Thank you for putting up these movies. I stopped watching the garbage being passed today as entertainment when in fact most are an insult to our intelligence. Thank you thank you thank you ☺️
This is a fun movie!
i know it's kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to stream newly released series online?
@Cayson Christopher Flixportal :D
@Brayden Bjorn Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
@Cayson Christopher no problem :D
Very sad that what passes for movies these days cannot even come close to the classics like this one. Thank you
Oh, that is what our parents probably said...

They're out there, uou just have to look harder.
Old and new
So grateful for UA-cam because it allows awesomely generous people to upload these wonderful old films for us to watch free of charge. No CGI, gratuitous sex scenes and car chases to make up for lack of plot.
In psychology, comments such as yours are called:
Passive Aggression.
This is a profoundly common method pf hate speech and denigration in youtube commenters.
The bias is not directly addressed by practicing theraposts and psychiatrists, but is called "rosy retrospection" and recognized as one of the severe cognitive errors.
It would be nice to cease engaging in such covert hate speech. Your culture, that of internet commenting with intent to demean others, in fact entire generations, appears to have severely degenerated in its civility.
Since first seeing Donald O'Connor dancing in Singing in the Rain, I knew he was special (his dancing was absolute perfection!). It wasn't until I recently viewed a documentary about him that I learned he was vaudeville royalty and acted in film as a child. Though his family was in vaudeville - he personally was royalty by virtue of his talent on the stage. Absolutely trajic he was tied to talkig horse films. More trajic he hasn't received the accolades he deserves.
He's a legendary performer!
I met Donald O'Connor when he was in my home town for a performance. He stayed at the hotel where I was working. Just an absolute prince of a fellow.
Glenn is good in any role he plays. This movie is very funny.
He could do it all -- comedy, drama, Western, romance, superhero, horror....
As usual Glen Ford displaying his finesse yet again. The man is versatile in any role. His smooth, flawless style was just right in this comedy portraying life for US marines in Japan.Just so nice seeing the honourable geisha girls and their simple life. Not forgetting all those cute Japanese kids.A all round good movie. Thanks for screening.❤
You're welcome and a great post!
very cute happy movie we need that once in awhile laughter or even a smile on our face helps even if we don't LOL it helps stress I noticed I get nervous when I see the shoot I'm up or movies but I watch him and I watch The Westerns shooting but this was different this is nice thank you for the video movie I would watch Glenn Ford and anything and my old age it looks like I'm getting a crush on him I should have had one when I was younger but I didn't pay that much attention LOL I'm only 89

Another Classic Glenn Ford Comedy, thanks for posting.

Teahouse of the August Moon ⛩
One of Glenn Ford’s best movies and it is his best comedy ever.
He is spectacular in this.
I didn't think I would like the movie. Normally not my cup of tea but the underlying story is wonderful. A small treasure from the past. Thank you Robb for bringing us this collection.
You're welcome!

Brilliant. I laughed and cried. 🥰
Great locations and a a great cast!!!
Love bar scene with who has the fortune 🍪! Ha.
Great cast!
Saw this when I was a kid. Later in life I joined the Navy and was eventually stationed in Japan.
Cool!
I enjoyed the movie. We need that kind of happiness during this difficult time of Covid-19.
I agree.
I love that two of the actors were the main leads in The Flower Drum Song movie! ❤️
Miyoshi Umeki
And who else???
@@RobbGF James Shigeta! He played the son, Tah. The Flower Drum Song is possibly the best musical ever made, IMO.
@@gordonmorris6359 He was in Die Hard also!!!
Another jem of a movie!! Reminds me of another movie called "Joe Butterfly" from the 50's!! Hilarious!! Coincidence Tony Curtis starred and they show his magazine picture in this one!!
We will have to check it out!
Thanks you, Classic Robb, I didn't know that Glenn Ford made so much movies and in so much different kinds. It's a real pleasure to discover all these gems.
You are welcome. We have a lot of his lesser known movies. His most famous can't be uploaded like: Gilda, 3:10 to Yuma, The Big Heat, Superman, Jubal... ...copyright issues.
Maybe you would like Tea House of The August Moon with Glen Ford and Marlon Brando in a surprisingly unexpected part.
If you can find glen ford on you tube they did his life on old rerun on this is your life
@@RobbGF Gilda is an unforgetable movie!!!

I watch old movies and every episode of Drag Race, including all the international franchises. Everything else today has been done a million times before. Drag Race fuels my creativity and touches my heart. Old films give my amateur fashion historian self great satisfaction. They also tell a good story.
Good post!
Thank you 😊
You're welcome! How'd you like the movie?
I'm watching from Mizoram... Very nice
Northeast India!!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for putting this movie up. It just keeps on moving and moving. That what I call a good movie. 👍
A little dated, but it has some great scenes.
I know of the film but have yet to see it. I also know that Glenn Ford had a very deft hand at playing comedy. I well remember laughing uproariously when I saw 1957s "Don't Go Near The Water." I don't know whether it would hold up today, but on that does is my favourite of all of his westerns, "The Sheepman" which, when MGM made it available on dvd, I immediately added to my film library. Another light hearted western, especially the first half, I re-watched it only a week or so ago and enjoyed it as much as I did when I first saw it upon its 1958 theatrical release in a local theatre.
Great post!
Cool film
Great cast and great locations!
I haven't seen this movie in over 40 yrs. Such a wonderful movie. Glenn Ford is nice but James Shigeta & Donald O'Conner sparkle in this picture.
I love how it ends.
What a nice and entertaining movie from a time, when Hollywood still turned out masterpieces! Politically absolutely incorrect, offensive, discriminatory - and so wonderful!
At the least the women get the upper hand! Great post!
It's great to see this movie on the Tube, thanks
You're welcome. A great cast!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Miyoshi Umeki singing. Cute as hell!!!!!!!
Old Yokosuka and BIG BLUE (crane) in the background.
A very fun movie!
Enjoyed this very watered-down look at Japanese culture and in particular the ultra-mysterious Geisha. Thanks for the upload, really cried for happy too! 💖 🇨🇦
Wonderful post.
I´ve been looking for this movies for decades since I first viewed it around 1975. Only remembered the laughable Korean western sequence. Praise you for uploading. Things tend to come one´s way, if waiting long enough.
Nice post!
So nice and fresh movie with very clever script !! It's so enjoying to see Ford in a funny role than a gangster, or soldier etc !!
Thank you for the upload
He is very good in this!
I'm not used in seeing Ford laughing or being so children loving !!
Glenn Ford is great in this one. It goes well with the Tea house of the August Moon .
Glenn Ford really hit his comedic stride in the late 50's and early 60's.
glen ford is the man another good film
I am glad you liked it. Check out some of his early movies. We have his first starring role, Heaven with a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), in the Glenn Ford Movie Collection: ua-cam.com/play/PLA9dyopf8noOGXEe8WdBxqynIJkzkRWQH.html
I went to the movies daily between when I was close to 5 until I was 11 or 12. I forget how much I did that until I see movies like this come back that I doubt anyone has seen in 20 to 40 years. Otherwise I forgot this movie existed at all, but remember thinking so much talent wasted back when I was 7.
Romantic comedies...
Oh! A great real Classic movie indeed
:)
Love these 50-60's Asian American movies like this, Signora, Sand Pebbles,Durms august tea moon

I always thought Glenn Ford an under appreciated actor.

Fantastic job guys!!

Never seen this film, if shot in Japan, great to view it at a quiet time in 1961
I thought the same thing.
It not only made my heart warm but also me laugh aloud.
My father made American soldiers lodge in his house and made money as in this movie in 1950s when I was a kid .
I have heard that father of former US Ambassador to South Korea had married Japanese lady in 1950s.
It is a traditional custom for Japanese or Korean to take off his shoes before he enters the room.
And several decades ago they didn't make a dog be in the room in Japan ,which was the same as in Korea .
We don't wear shoes in our house.

In "Cry For Happy", JAMES SHIGETA was only months away from his signature star-making role in "Flower Drum Song" alongside NANCY KWAN and MIYOSHI UMEKI. Indeed, Shigeta became the biggest Asian star (even a romantic lead) that Hollywood had seen in some time. No small feat given the lingering anti-Japanese sentiment following WWII. It didn't matter that Shigeta was Hawaiian-born or that the characters in "Flower Drum Song" are Chinese. There is an interesting documentary film, "The Slanted Screen" (2006), about this subject (it includes Shigeta and many others like MAKO and JASON SCOTT LEE).
Trivia: GLENN FORD also starred in "The Teahouse of the August Moon" (1956) which is similar to "Cry for Happy".
Cry for Happy and Teahouse haven't dated well, but are still enjoyable films.
@@RobbGF I think Cry for Happy aged a lot better than Teahouse thanks to a better screenplay (Irving Brecher developed his skills with Groucho and the other Marx bros) and great performances from Umeki &Taka; even Ford is more at ease here.
@@Neurodisco77 Both movies are quite dated, but Glenn Ford shines in both. He is a great comedic actor.

same thing what I had read in Library of Allahabad university, 'nagarvadhu' traditions, Asian eastern ancient cultures understood how to make layers society where there is not somebody hurting anybody unnecessarily and what are needs of men, and what consent of women in any given field means. this was missed in English culture even French had earlier something of this nature.. anyway point is better make this slice of life, clean disease free regulated organized because it is "oldest profession and it is going to stay'.
