It's come to my attention that some of you can't handle the educational part of the video and that I talk to much so if you want to know what card I suggest than just buy the Smart Update cards you're welcome!
Yeah it is, I swear they were around $60 CAD back then people used to sell them with games for more too. I saw someone on Facebook recently selling them for $150 I just laughed in my mind like Good Luck as Amazon has them preloaded for $35 😂
I honestly was not aware of the different versions of that card until today. I think this is always going to be the best experience when playing DS games ( dual screen, and touch).
What % of people do you think prefer: MULTIPLE original hardwares + hardware-specific emulation solutions like this, vs. ONE new hardware capable of emulating anything?
I think it's a mix. In cases like the DS, nothing is like playing DS games on the DS. Maybe we'll get to a point where there is a better than DS, but as the Aya Neo slide has shown that's expensive and the software is not there yet. Where as for a lot of 4:3 systems on the same hardware doesn't necessarily degrade the experience, while offering great convenience. So combine for best experience with some systems, but having ideal hardware for systems has a definite appeal. Those who are about Nostalgia, definitely seem to favor original or very faithful to original hardware. Like Russ of RGC latest video about preferring a GBC remake over analog pocket, due to the GBC form factor without the draw backs of his modded GBC.
@@washuai Exactly, if the console is easy to emulate on PC without compromises, I'm fine with emulation. However like you said, what device are you going to emulate DS games on? I see no way of emulating the DS without compromises. The cost of the Aya Neo is a compromise for me. I see no point in playing GB/GBC/GBA on legit hardware. I prefer to play those on my Ps Vita since it has an AMOLED screen.
No problem I was hoping this would help many because I keep seeing other cards pop up that I own for study purposes and aren't any good. The one I shared here is the ones I recommend.

I just got a 3DS, never owned one before and to be honest all of this is very overwhelming. I just want to play Castlevania: Dawn of sorrow and the other two Castlevania games that were released for the NDS, however I don't even know where to start.
I found this out the hard way a few years ago when I ordered the Real time save one with a timebomb :( I then bought the cheaper smart update card and have been using the wood kernal ever since (probably could use an update). I have had the real time save card sitting in a drawer this whole time because I could never get any firmware to boot on it. I used your video the other day and got twilight working which is great. I heard you mention the YS menu works on the RTS card? I tried years ago and couldn't get this to work, I heard you mention its possible did I hear you incorrectly? I find twilight pretty slow to boot up and then start a game.
I use TWilight Menu only, YSMENU is gross to me and only works on the Smart Update card NOT Real Time Save cards not sure why but it just doesn't. I don't know why anyone suggests YSMENU but it truly isn't the best way in my opinion but someone on my Discord always suggests it when new gamers pop in asking how to setup their R4 lol. The time bomb now though doesn't exist either, I found a custom original RTS firmware that removed it completely. Not sure why companies keep using it when it literally has been bi-passed for years and at this point is a complete scam.

I've had one of those real time save cards since 2018 (i'm only just now learning it could have done save states...) but it can run BW2 just fine. I guess it's because twilight menu?
Thanks! Hey - if you don't have a video that shows how to set Twilight Menu ++ to play a game in DS mode, that would be great. A lot of the hacks won't play unless you (on my card in TM++) hit 'y' on the game in the list and then select Game Loader 'nds-bootstrap' rather than using 'Default' there. Took me a lot of time to figure out.
I was kind of hoping the ez flash parallel would be included in this consideration. I guess someone who saw this early mentioned that, so maybe it's yet to come. I see you mentioned it briefly. I hope this comment counts.

For a while it works, but sometimes the last save is gone, and then at some point everything is gone. Also some games won't open at all anymore. Do you think buing a new R4 card would fix the issue? I'm not a tech person, is the sd card fine or could that be damaged as well?
Well the time bomb has been fixed 3 different ways for the real time save cards. There's a default kernel that has been modified so you can use the NOT GOOD save state feature. Or there's TWilight Menu and YSMENU which I have guides for. New card well maybe if your current card causes lots of problems.
just found my old r4 card and wanted to start using it again for my NDSL and just wantet to know more about the hacked roms limitations is there a reason hacked roms dont work or is it the TWilight menu that stops it and is there any way around it?
Hey hacked emulation games like GBA for example don't appear to work many others including myself have tested this. DS games however if they're legit, do work mind you I've only tested a couple including Newer Super Mario Bros DS.
Game saves are stored on the SD card inside the R4 card. The save as .sav or .sav.nds format depending on what you choose. By default the are .sav typically.
I just ordered a 2024 R4 GOld Pro Real Time Save. Does the issue with game like Pokemon Black 2 apply to the newer cards like this? And if so, does using Twilight menu or something else circumvent that?
I also have an R4i Revolution RTS card. I run the stock firmware that supports RTS like you showed, but if you drop the YSMenu.nds into your games folder you can chain-load into YSMenu and boot Black/White 2 just fine. I've been trying to find a version of Wood that will work on this card but no luck.
I know the R4 card shown can be used in the ds lite and you could apply twilight to run GBA games as well, but just curious if I could load pokemon ultra moon as well since that is a 3ds game. If so, I would love to know how so i can play that on my ds lite.

Gold doesn't matter so as long as it's not the fake Real Time Save card that says .hk on it. Regarding your question I have a playlist that shows how to setup your RTS card plus shows how to upgrade it to TWilight Menu as more than likely your card won't come with the kernel.
The RTS card on Stock won't play Black 2 you have to use TWilight Menu or YSMENU where the Smart Update card will play a lot of DS/DSi enhanced games without question.
Hey I'm trying to get gba game data onto a SD card but I can't find the card to buy. I watched the vids fully and am wanting to use the 2024 dual core smart update (not the RTS) Card. But I can't find any online that perfectly match the card in the videos/how-to on discord. Can someone please point me in the direction of where to buy the card mentioned in the how to for the not-RTS card?
I don't really understand what you're asking? You are trying to play GBA games? If so the best bet is to get the Smart Update card, load it with TWilight Menu as I have guides for this as well.

@HyperHawg okay I'm not sure what tool that is but I tested a 256GB micro SDHC card with my parallel and it worked formatting it with Aomei. I'm just not sure if those 4K cards will read correctly. What size is it?
@@DNAMobileGaming I just set the settings to what the instructions on the EZ-Flash site said and went on adding ROMs and all. I’m getting SD Read error so I assume it just can’t read the way the card is formatted.

The one in this video that I suggested there's nothing special about any devices that won't allow the R4 to work. However you could just hack your DSi too

Not sure maybe you should dump your games so you get the proper game format probably half the reason the game might be broken is because you never know what you're going to get by doing what you did.

ok, since you didn't answer me again, I found the answer, I'm leaving it here in case it helps someone, after having done a little research, I found forums talking about this, Runner2 has been shit since the day it came out, it was improving, but today some games still do not play correctly, among them, pokemon fire red, the music is not synchronized and there are some more errors that people have found, if they don't fix it, we can't do anything, the case is that a man, on reddit, said that he would be able to fix the program, after trying he made it clear that this was impossible, and that GBARunner2 will never be able to play all the games perfectly.

I shared what I suggest as the EZP isn't fully compatible yet the card I mentioned is the best option imo.

Thr EZP will be great once they release the source. The fpga can be used to replicate any of the other cards, allowing the ultimate compatibility.

The R4 card is not for 3DS games only DS and DS homebrew/emulation.

They can stop if over used unless you're talking about the time bomb which the time bomb doesn't exist on the Real Time Save cards anymore.

@@jawesome8065 I could be wrong, but for time bomb bypass, you can change the date on your console (forward I think to the year 2099) try that.
I am new to this, do you need R4 card any more since you can mod and get custom firmware like homebrew.
Technically if you don't have a DS/DSL then no the R4 card isn't really needed if you want to hack your DSi or 3DS series console.

No there isn't any good rts cards out there they all have same issues with using save states.
I’m gonna have to figure out the best program to format an SDXC to Fat32 32K, because what I am using still gives errors every time in the Parallel

Try that card did you install just the basic files first to see if the Parallel would load?
@@DNAMobileGaming I just set the settings to what the instructions on the EZ-Flash site said and went on adding ROMs and all. I’m getting SD Read error so I assume it just can’t read the way the card is formatted.

Well most yes, these two for sure they're the best for TWilight Menu but the one I suggested is the top one I would and always tell others to get.

The one in this video that I suggested there's nothing special about any devices that won't allow the R4 to work. However you could just hack your DSi too

I use an R4 alongside my 3DS for loading DS games only.

Not sure maybe you should dump your games so you get the proper game format probably half the reason the game might be broken is because you never know what you're going to get by doing what you did.
@@DNAMobileGaming nothing work for me, I even delete kernel, installed Twilight, then I noticed I was doing a big shit with that, because there was the same emulatot for gba, runner2 or something like that, and man, something is going wrong, I play Scribblenauts perfectly, I played Mario and Luigi perfectly, but I can't play Pokemon, gba isn't working for me :(((( I have a question, is there any other emulator for gba that I can install on the r4 card ??? ok, since you didn't answer me again, I found the answer, I'm leaving it here in case it helps someone, after having done a little research, I found forums talking about this, Runner2 has been shit since the day it came out, it was improving, but today some games still do not play correctly, among them, pokemon fire red, the music is not synchronized and there are some more errors that people have found, if they don't fix it, we can't do anything, the case is that a man, on reddit, said that he would be able to fix the program, after trying he made it clear that this was impossible, and that GBARunner2 will never be able to play all the games perfectly.
