Homemade slow feeder for horse hay

I made this myself after seeing some on youtube. I had a few trials of using different systems such as ropes and a plastic lid but the clips kept catching on the fibres of the rope so that idea was scrapped. This is the best I have found so far. It also helps to have a husband with an amazingly well set up workshop.

Is your grid made of METAL? If so, you might want to rethink that part of the design, as your horses will wear their teeth right off! However, the overall idea is genius!

Very clever! I don't mean to offend, but because of the metal fencing inside of it, the horses scrape and damage their teeth. There's been vet studies about it. But, I think you are very , very close to making a good design! I like those Port feeders or whatever they are called- plastic barrel trash cans with a good grade plastic cover that fits in top that doesn't hurt their teeth. Just too pricey! Maybe they'll come down soon. I think they're called " port o grazers" or something.
