I cannot reach that reference link that you are referring to at four minutes in into the video. would love to know which video in particular you are referring to. Thanks for the content.
Let's say, I have a communication failure (over remote like cellular, VDSL etc.) with OPC server like 4 hour or so. Will the OPC-UA return lost values with their timestamps to the OPC-UA Client when communication back up? Or is there a communication protocol can do that?
Good question! Normally OPC UA sever like in Siemens PLC has no such option to back up the values automatically. You have to store the data in the database to retrieve it later. But OPC UA sever might have this back up function built-in but I am not sure which one.
Unti I saw this video I thought the OPC UA Server can be the main element of an OPC UA network, but this shows, that the Client can be the central and communicate with several servers in this case. For example a Computer (client) can communicate with several PLCs (servers) and gather production data from them, right?
Thanks a lot for the video Rajvir. I am little confused, is the main idea for OPC-UA is data collection or is also for real time control. e.g. controlling a motor , synchronization between industrial controllers, turning on/off actuators, etc ? I mean is it a replacement to existing protocols as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc ?
OPC-UA is not the fastest way of communication. But it can collect the data, control the output, read the inputs securely. If you want high speed control then PROFINET is better :)
Hi. Very good video! congratulations! Do you know if we can send CSV file (500ko to 1Mo) with OPCUA? Can we use it like FTP? If yes, what type of file can be send thanks opcua? Thanks a lot for your answers. Have a good day.
@@genantamtam9364 correct, they’ve got opc servers integrated. But please check that further for the s7-1200, as it doen’t have the same specs as s7-1500
Lets say the PLC is OPC UA sending data over to a system OPC DA Client, are there any additional requirement such a tunneller or something like that. Sorry of my question is not structured properly.
Hi, I Am working on a project where the OPC UA Server (Phoenix contact AXC 1050 PLC) is connected to a Sierra RV50 router with a M2M Sim-Card (Router 1). The OPC UA Client is a laptop with TIA Portal WinCC professional on a office-network (Router 2). So I know that I Should put the IP "opc.tcp://name:Port" of the PLC (OPC UA Server) in the "OPC UA Discovery URL" in TIA Portal Scada (OPC UA Client.) But this won't work because the PLC is on another network. I found something that it should be possible to connect the 2 networks with a VPN-Tunnel. But now my question is, *Is it possible to send and receive data over a VPN Tunnel using OPC UA?* Hope to receive a reaction. Thanks in advance! Joost
This is the best tutorial on OPC UA. Thank you for your time :)
Glad it was helpful!
Great explanation and using real world example to explain the OPC UA. Now, its very clear to me about server and client concept. Thanks Sir

Keep on posting sir...Love your videos
Great explanation 👏 👏 👏
Thank you! 😃
Bro, This is my 1st of your video, my 1st of knowing about UPC UA by the end of video gained pretty much. Awesome explaination. Thx keep rock on.. 💐💐
Glad it helped :)
thanks for sharing ! is very amazing that with opc ua connect simulation enviorements with real filed devices
Glad you like it!
Are there any alternative to OPC UA ? Is it a must have for 4.0 industry ?

@@thegeterrdone I have been told that IEC-104 protocol is able to do that. But I don't know about the limits. I never had a chance to test it.
Thanki you for sharing! It's a wonderfual explanationt of opcua

Yes you are right. An OPC UA Client can take data from multiple servers.
Thank you Gellért, i had the same thought.
Thanks for insights, is the OPC UA can be installed in any make of PLC???
OPC UA Server is installed in some PLC like Siemens S7-1200. Not all PLC has this Server.
Is OPC UA the only option to connect hardwares ?
Do you have videos on Ignition Perspective here or in Udemy ? Will you take any online class for ignition
My SCADA course will be updated hopefully this year with the latest version of Ignition software

Excellent explanation, will you take any classes on Ignition with PLC ?
I already have a full course on that available at www.codeandcompile.com
Where is the link for downloading simulation server & client?
Kindly check prosys website.www.prosysopc.com/products/
hello Rajvir , i want to know how can i transfer the realtime database from opc server to my react native app .
thanks in advance
Not sure about react but does react supports REST API?
Very nice explanation!!!

No you cannot send CSV fike via OPC UA but I advice you to store data in database then I'm CSV.
Would you please make a video for Extraction of data from Siemens Plc 400,1200 to OPC ??
There is a full course on that. Check OPCUA course at learn.codeandcompile.com

How many tags are used in total in opc-ua?
It depends on the server .. ranging from 200 - 20000 or more :)
Can I use the opc software with S7-400 CPU
I am not sure if it supports. Check the latest firmware from Siemens
yess, but only via CP card on the s7-400 rack

Can I create a opc server to read data from Siemens plc?
Which Siemens plc model you are talking about?
Awesome bro
Well explained, thank u
Sir this video is lovely but I have a question, does it mean that OPC clients are devices that have memories of their own?
What i was meant to say in this comment was OPC servers not client... Sometimes i can be forgetful
OPC servers are the one which holds the data and clients can read and write the data :)
So basically it is for data acquisition only and cannot actually control the equipment/devices?
It can also control the equipment if you write the values to the OPC UA tags
Very clear
Sir is it OPC UA & ONLY OPC SAME
No, OPC UA is further standalone protocol of OPC. There are OPC DA, OPC AE as well
I love you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤😅😅😅😅😅😅

No additional requirement, the client needs opc ua endpoint and login details if connection is secure.
