I can only wish my little brother remembers me as fondly. I know they were always tight as brothers. But Lanny has been a great voice for Macho since his death.
Lanny is without a doubt such a genuine good soul. This world could use more brothers, more people like him. That made me shed tears which I am not known to do at all. Such a great guy showing love for his brother and shared his wish with his sister in-law. That is a true brother right there and I'm certain Randy was smiling all the way from the Golden Gates above!
I was a huge Randy Savage fan! My eldest brother got me into pro wrestling when I was a young kid. My brother died five years ago last month. He would have been 55 on the 22nd of this month. I miss my brother and I miss The Macho Man! Deepest sympathy to The Genius Lanny Poffo.
i was lucky to meet randy at a nitro in 97. such a nice dude. i said thank you for all the great matches and great interviews he gave us all. and you could tell he was so thankful to hear that a 18 year old fan liked his stuff. mach man will never be forgotten in my house!
I was 10 years old in 1997 and wrestling was becoming my favorite thing in the world. For about 4 years or so i loved WCW and Randy was by far my favorite of all time. I used to rent the old Wrestlemania VHS's so i could watch his old matches. About the time Randy got screwed out the the belt in 2000 was about the time was starting to not watch it at all. By 2001 i wasn't the least bit interested in it.
His voice is so calming. When he was speaking and telling of his brothers wishes, it brought tears to my eyes. I haven't cried in a long time, but after listening to what Lanny had to say, I broke down and let go. May God watch over Lanny and his family. Thank You....

Randy Poffo was my favorite 80's WWF guy. i played baseball at many levels and always admired that your brother made it to the AAA level. That "Voice" during those Epic promos will always live inside my heart. Honestly cried the Friday afternoon when I heard "Macho Madness" was gone.
Randy would deepen his voice in order to do the Macho Man voice. Eventually it became so natural to him that he would always talk that way. Lanny's mentioned a few times that Randy's voice that we heard didn't always sound that way.
I just wanted to say to you that your brother randy was a true legend in the making of wwf. I used to watch him in wrestling as a kid he was my favorite wrestler.
Lanny has now joined Randy on the other side now. Lanny passed on 2-2-23, and here is hoping they can all rest in power with all of their other brothers from the business. The Macho Genius brothers stomping their way through the afterlife!

Of all the stories I've heard told about the Macho Man over the years this one has always been my absolute favorite. It showed how down to earth he really was and a humbleness that you don't find in many humans. Especially those that have any level of fame much less the amount of fame he had achieved. He has been my favorite wrestler since the first time I watched wrestling. His promos, matches and intensity stood out to me even at six years old. He was on a different level than everyone else at the time including Hogan. R.I.P. to the man who may not be considered the greatest ever by most people but to me will always be the 🐐

There is an interview here on UA-cam with Randy wearing a red shirt and shades, sitting down, and he's completely being himself w/ NO gimmick at all! He keeps complimenting the interviewer for knowing his stuff and was just laid back and cool/calm... One of the only interviews that I've seen where Randy is being 100% himself, and it shows the good hearted/intellectual side of Randy that other wrestlers always talk about when they speak on him being a perfectionist and a laid back guy outside of work.
His energy is still here in a lot of us.When I think back to my childhood and all the weekend shows and the ppvs.How live that was.Somethings you think on and your mind can go back and you can get lost in those moments because the imprint of that energy is still there.Orndorff was my first favorite.I loved Bret,Austin,Benoit,Angle and Eventually Shawn.Last 2 Favs before I stopped watching was AJ Styles and The Boss but Savage 85-89 was my favorite all time wrestler.Intensity and charisma was off the meter.During the Monday night war era the bad guys were kinda popular but in the 80s you were a heel or a face and most of the time the fans fell in line with what you were.Savage was so good at the height of his heeldom that fans were liked him despite him treating Liz awful.I remember this wrestling magazine called Wrestling Eye had him on the cover”Wrestling’s most popular bad guy”like I said rare.I think maybe the Horsemen also achieved that love hate also

Found some old footage on UA-cam of Savage from his pre WWE days. He was more Mick Foley than Mick Foley. It was brutally obvious where Mick drew inspiration. RIP legend. Always missed.
He was an amazing person.. an athlete and he had heart and drive. He was the best. My Father had Dementia and was watching wrestling and Randy Macho King was in a match ..my dad that guy is tough... I said he is....he reminded me of the toughest kid in high school.... he reminded me of number one,,,on top.
Lanny will always be a Genius in my book. The day that Randy died was my first night at an independent wrestling show. I went on to referee for that promotion in Utah for a couple years after that. Many wonderful memories about Randy Savage.
Randy was the man! No one had, or will have, his swagger. Didn't know he loved dogs so much. Makes me like him even more. I doing the same thing when i go. Loved all my dogs. Cremate me and mix in the dogs ashes too.

For all his idiosyncrasies and flaws, it seems you always knew what you had with the Macho Man. Not a single "shoot" on him plotting, scheming, backstabbing or burying anyone, like so many others in their day did. Honest and upfront, almost to a fault. I don't care too much about celebrity deaths, but when I learned of his passing all those years ago, I cried without realizing it, such a big part of my childhood was he. Lanny's send-off was beautiful, it felt from the heart and just candid enough to elicit a smile beyond the tragedy. Lanny, you are the greatest kind of brother anyone could wish for, and I know your brother was as proud of you as you are of him.
