  • I have a problem…
    Art Supply Separation Anxiety or ASSA for short. What this means, is that I need an organizational system that will allow me to take a wide variety of art supplies with me so that I am ready for any art situation. I want my supplies to be easily accessible, protected, and portable. I also want to be able to use the storage system in a wide variety of ways depending on the projects I’m working on and where I will be working on them.
    Is this too much to ask for?
    After much research (not sponsored), I decided to purchase and test the Everything Mary Deluxe Rolling Craft Case and the Everything Mary Scrapbook Craft Storage Organizer. At almost $150 for the pair, this big investment needed to do everything I wanted and more.
    Find out in this video how I use this system, the pros and cons, and whether I would recommend you purchase it.
    If you are like me, and you suffer from ASSA, then this video is for you!

    I'm so glad u gave the ANXIETY I feel when I have to leave my house and know that I have to pick and choose only SOME OFmy supplies, to go with me... I always endup hauling with at at least 3 or more separate bags, especially when I'm going to work for the whole day. I too try and pack a little bit assortment of each art medium I have,so when I color my supplies will cover a variety of my what I call " my coloring attacks" LOL... I'm so glad I'm not alone in this, and now I have a name to go with my diagnosis. I will be sure to check this system out ...

    I am going to have to look into these bags. I like that they are not ginormous in size. I also like that they have large compartments. This makes much more sense for us who use 12x12 paper and those exact paper containers that you showed. I also liked that it was NOT filled with a gazillion small plastic storage bags. I guess you could say, “I liked the bags and the review.” I LOVE how you organize all your art supplies in the bags.

    Great news about your little sprinter Rose! :) Please add the mentioned Amzn links in the description, especially if they're affiliate links because I know your audience loves supporting you.
    On wishful stacking while in use... once at your destination, they MAY work stacked back to back. Meaning turn the top (non-wheel) bag 180 degrees to face the back but still on the upright handle, open the front, THEN open the wheeled bag lid and velcro it to the still upright handle so it stays up and open. They'd be hooked together, both fully open, and all items accessible. Maybe add a rolled up towel or something under the carry bag for support so it doesn't pull on that large back strap (especially if loaded down) and to help prevent any tipping.
    Be sure they're first "placed in their use spot" so you're not later trying to lift them together. And without support under the carry bag, it MAY (or may not) eventually pull a little where that large back strap is over the upright handle, unlike when it faces front where it's on top of and supported by the large bag. Stacked back to back like that takes up a little more room than stacked on top, but they're still all together and all items accessible like you wanted.
    Anyway, hope that's worth a try and hope it helps! :)

    So glad that little Rose is doing so well! Your organization system is brilliant and I can see where you will get a lot of use out of it!! I wouldn't need something quite so big and it occurs to me that buried in my closet I have this really nice computer bag on Wheels and it is probably just the perfect size to hold a binder with pencils and a few coloring books and then my smaller organizer bag with all my miscellaneous items, which I have very well organized. I can just put it in the car and maybe even take it with me on an airplane...that's real separation anxiety, not taking my art supplies on an airplane. I am taking a trip involving air travel in a week, so I am going to see what I can do to put that together. I can also see myself leaving it put together and just reaching for stuff out of it as I need what is not around in my other art supplies. I am going to check out those plastic boxes and see if one will fit in it to hold the books and art pads for extra protection. Thanks for the inspiration 🥰

It's also easy to over fill, but it wasn't as expensive. I think I only paid $60. But the wheels are sturdy and so far it has withstood taking it around with me.

    I attend art classes at our senior center so I need to regularly pack and take tools and supplies. We don't always have a clear idea of what we will be needing so I definitely overpack! Have you created a minimal packing list? We often need to do some drawing and then add color with pencils, paint, markers, etc. I also like to take art supplies along when traveling so I need to only pack essentials.

I looked at every type of system and none really measured up, but THIS! Wow! You really did your homework. I will be buying both because I suffer terribly from ASSA and I most likely will be overloading my system too. Who doesn't, that suffers from ASSA? I love the name. Never quite knew what to call my condition, but it is funny and so true to us creatives. You're the best! THANKS! I'll let you know how it works out, when I get it together.

    It's a good and cute system and you're very well organized. For me, I can fit my board, coloring book (in a felt portfolio case), my small pencil case, my fidgets, and my small global art travel case. And fit all my working pencils, gel pens, erasers, sharpeners, and extenders, ect... so it seems slightly excessive for me unless I needed to be away for a month... lol
    But I can understand your ASSA diagnosis and the need to share with others, or even if someone who was in a school situation where that was a necessity. 👍❤

    Hi, Jennifer, Steve and Rose! Like everyone else, I am deeply happy that Rose is improving!
    Thanks for this video. My thoughts:
    First, I am really happy to see supplies that you've reviewed in the past in daily use - eg all five pencil cases!!! I get really fed up at times with ArtTuber product reviews which we rarely / never see being used afterwards. It's rather like those 'my favourite ...'videos, and we see a case of pencils which are the 'favourite', and they've hardly been used, if at all. (Sorry - this is a serious concern to me, which is why I'm so relieved to see your equipment in everyday use.)
    The cases: The biggest no-go for me is the wheels! They are tiny, and as you've said, we'd need to lift the bag up and down even the smallest step. Mine was a gift to me from one of my art group ladies, and is like a very sturdy shopping trolley (not a supermarket trolley, but a deep shopping bag on wheels). The bag part also has a frame to keep its shape and make it easy to load / unload. The metal parts are also workmanlike, being of really sturdy tubes - unlike those on trolley cases and (it seems from the video) those on your craft trolley, and those I've seen. The downside is that I have to take the top bag out of it (usually it's my overloaded handbag, as the messenger bag won't fit!!!) to get at the bottom bag with my plein air kit in it.
    At the time, I thought, "Whatever am I going to do with this? We paint in the countryside, and I have to use the car!" Now, with the cost of fuel and a reduced budget, I am sooo thankful!!! It has a seat and it also has *big* wheels. The tiny wheels on the one you've shown us wouldn't cope here, where there are high kerbs and cobbled streets, or even back in the UK.
    The price: I couldn't afford it now, but from the video, it looks really well made (apart from the wheels and the lifting handles). It looks really sturdy, and for the most part, it's well-designed. I'm not sure how the plastic linings of pockets will last with regular use? Will they become brittle with age, as plastic is inclined to do? I think the price is probably justified, though.
    ASSA? Yes! I've got my kit pretty well defined after 25+ years of plein air painting, but now I only use the car for essentials, and am doing far more in-town urban sketching, there are things I can't take with me, eg the satchel of soft pastels, or coloured and pastel pencils (in the same case) or watercolour pencils. The w/c pencil case usually win even though it is heavier, because they are dual purpose and I have a wider selection of colours.
    Yes, I'd love a trolley with organised pockets: one with a completely unzippable front and the interior set up with compartments, like a cupboard, with external side pockets each side to take a collapsible easel or tripod, and the big fisherman's brolley (!!!) Of course, it would be designed for my kit, with the right shapes and number of compartments... I can see it in my mind's eye, but haven't found it yet.

    I know you made it sound like a joke, but the struggle is real! I take a small backpack with some art supplies wherever I go, and YES it gives me some anxiety trying to decide what I need to take, depending on where Im going and how long Im going to ne there!
    Thank you so much for this video. And enjoy your purchase! 🥰

    • @MrsBarnabas
      @MrsBarnabas 2 роки тому

      If it helps you at all, I understand what you mean, possibly because I have an art trolley (like a wheeled shopping bag, but far sturdier)! Let's hope that Jenifer and Steve read this, too, test it out, and report back to us all - a very likely thing, I think. I also think that it is worth testing it out.
      One possible problem that I see is that of balance. These bags are designed for the weight to be resting on the 'footplate' / metal support. If the top bag is weighty, and the bottom one less heavy, because things have been taken out, it will fall over backwards.
      The other possible problem is the strength of the metal rods of the handle. The weight of the small bag is on the top of the other, and the rods will have been designed to support that, even when the bag is tilted to pull it. If that weight is now completely on the rods, they may bend.
      But we won't know till Jennifer and Steve test it / someone else who has one tells us.
      :)

    • @veystone2580
      @veystone2580 2 роки тому

      @@MrsBarnabas I get what you said, but judging on the content she has in the bigger bag, perhaps that will prevent balance problems!!! Let's hope so! Im glad u understood what I was trying to explain! Now I feel better. 😅

    • @veystone2580
      @veystone2580 2 роки тому

      @@MrsBarnabas that about the strength of the metal rods is also an issue that maybe it could be solve by using a small foldable sitting tool! I know is an extra item, but hey... Still thinking here! 😅

    First of all, as a scrapbookers I take many supplies with me every time I go scrap. it looks like a nice bag. Is there a link you can provide?, you said you would one, but I don’t see it. Also what is the weight limit of the bag? That impacts how it functions, how the wheels work etc. unreal expectations are not fair to the manufacturer as your bag will fail much sooner than it should.
    Glad Rose is better! Thanks for a good video.

    Glad wee Rose is doing better. She looks like a really tiny dog. So cute. No, I don't suffer from "art supply separation anxiety", although when I first got my first urushi (Japanese lacquer) fountain pen I wanted to take it with me where ever I went. I thought the better of it and it like the rest of my art supplies stay home. If I should take some art supplies with me I think I would just take a small watercolor palette and some paper, but this could get messy so I haven't done that either. I don't like water brushes so there is the water situation I would need to consider as well. How do people manage this anyway? I totally understand the overstuffing compulsion though. The bigger the purse the more I put in it, short of the kitchen sink, which is why I try not to get big bags. It's hard carrying such a bag! Let us know how it works out when you are actually out and about. Thanks for sharing.

    What are the names and brands of your big totes. Where did you purchase them? I like them. Thank you.

    I was looking at something like that to drag around my work junk. I was worried about the quality of the wheels and how much weight they could deal with

    My problem is, I have to may different art forms I was to bring. Do I want to color, bible journal, crochet, plastic canvas or diamond paint or acrylic painting. I usually end up picking two of them. And end up bring 2 bages. I haven't figured out how to bring acrylic painting on trips yet 😁.

    Just an idea...can't you slit the top bag over the handle, but on the other side..and than open and velcro the big bag? You can use the bag, turning it 90 degrees on its wheels, and use both bags, while the small one hangs on the back..as there are wheels, you can easily turn the base.....don't know if that works with this system, i have used my suitcase and topbag that way..don't know if i explain it clear enough.... 😘

    I dont know how to say this.....
    I hope you understand...
    Okay... You know that strappy velcro thingy to hold the flap open.... ... Ok, I dont know how it is strapped back there.... BUT is there any chance you can, place the small bag on top but facing the other side (like backwards) WHEN you are ready to use it, (not when you are carrying around)... And then maybe (just maybe cause I dont know how the strappy velcro thingy works).... Could u just, have the small bag on top, facing the other side, and then open de flap of the big one and velcro it somehow, so then it wont cover your small bag, and everything will be open and accessible, you just have to turn the cart to access the contents of the small bag, but it will be on top of the big one, and the big one will have the flap open!
    This will work, only if you can strap that flap, even with the small bag on top! (Again, turning the small bag backwards)
    I FEEL SOOOO FRUSTRATED NOT BEEN ABLE JUST TO SHOW U IN PERSON WHAT I MEAN!!!!
    I really hope you can understand and visualize what Im so DESPERATELY trying to explain here! 😂

    Why don’t you put the one that goes on top backwards over the handle on the back so they can both be open and accessible? And you didn’t show what is in the bottom one in the inside top bit that lifts up
