It originated in Scotland in the 1960s and quickly gained popularity for its distinctive looks and friendly personality. The breed is known for being affectionate and loyal to its owners, making it a great pet for families. However, it is also one of the most expensive cat breeds in the world due to its rarity and high demand.

@@osp02 To my knowledge British Shorthair is a very sturdy breed that has a life expectancy of 14-20years and only suffer from kidney diseases and heart diseases(which all cats do, especially kidneys) however I %100 agree that folds are very problematic, poor babies suffer from joint pains all the time and their ears frequently gets infected and needs to be atleast mixed with other breeds but it is best NOT to breed them because like Pugs they suffer

@@petrolhead9702 thanks a lot, i was going to say the same thing. Joint pain comes from the weak cartelage. Thats what makes their ears droop. And any animal with droopy ears has usualy more ear problems since the moisture gets trapped more easily in the earcanal.

      I had a Scottish fold
We named him zombie after a cat that had issues with her leg that the vet called Zombie (they refused to sell her, saying she wasn't healthy enough) he had a very bad temper and he feared humans. We found bruises on his body, and we discovered that he was probably mistreated, so we handed him over to someone more capable of caring for him.
3 years later, we still get videos of him and how much better he has gotten with the new owner. Giving him away pained me, but it was the right thing if he had stayed with us he would have been in a worse state 😢

They have SO many health problems which link to the reason their ears fild like that.Their ear folds develop joint pain and stiffness due to a genetic disease called osteochondrodysplasia that causes abnormalities in the cartilage and bone and have many problems with their joints due to this. They are constantly suffering and their medical bills are expensive.
A word of a advice, (no hate but) if you love animals and pets be honest and point out their flaws and other important details as your videos could influence people to buy these pets and as a content creator about pet breeds you should mention this and not promote animals that suffer just from existing. Thank you
Edit:Please do not give hate to the creator, when I made this comment it was to inform others and give feedback on the video but be sure to check any animal breeds carefully before getting it. Many pets are idolised for unique features which come with health problems and expensive medical bills or are hard to maintain. Always do your research and ALWAYS adopt from shelters or online because many pet stores use puppy mills or cruel methods to get a large amount of animals for cheap. Thank you and once again be carefully and don't leave hate comments as it is not the creators fault they exist.

I wouldn't go after the content creator over this just because their channel introduces animals. They're not really advocating for animals on here. They're just introducing different breeds of animals. There are plenty of other channels that advocate for responsible ownership and explain the issues surrounding different animals and why breeding them can be problematic. If people want to know about that kind of stuff, they can go to those channels. This channel only gets one minute per video to introduce the animal and give a small amount of explanation about them. I will say, however, that they should be careful about sharing incorrect information about the animals like they did in this video when they said that spanish folds are known to be healthy when that is obviously not true.

    From Wikipedia:
"All Fold cats are affected by Osteochondrodysplasia (OCD) a developmental abnormality that affects cartilage and bone development throughout the body. This condition causes the ear fold in the breed and studies point to all Fold cats being affected by it. Fold cats therefore have malformed bone structures and can develop severe painful degenerative joint diseases at an early age. Due to these health conditions, breeding Fold cats is prohibited in several countries and some major cat registries do not recognise the cat breed."
I once saw the spine of a dead Fold cat. The cartilage lesion made the originally segmented spine be connected into a whole segment. Think how miserable it would be for you if you got such a disease.

Cats are universally adored for their endearing qualities and charming behaviors. One of the key factors contributing to their cuteness is their physical appearance. Many people find their soft fur, expressive eyes, and playful antics irresistibly charming.
Beyond their appearance, cats exhibit behaviors that tug at our heartstrings. Their playful nature, curiosity, and agility can be entertaining and endearing to observe. The way they groom themselves, knead with their paws, or curl up in a cozy ball adds to their overall charm.
The unique vocalizations of cats, from gentle purring to adorable meows, create a connection with humans. These sounds often convey a sense of comfort and companionship, enhancing the bond between cats and their owners.
Cats also have a knack for finding cozy spots to rest, whether it’s a sunny window sill or a warm lap. Their ability to create a sense of comfort and relaxation in their surroundings adds to their overall cuteness.
Furthermore, the independence of cats, coupled with their occasional displays of affection, strikes a balance that many find appealing. They can be both playful and aloof, making their interactions intriguing and delightful.
In conclusion, the undeniable charm of cats goes beyond their physical appearance to include their behaviors, sounds, and the unique bond they form with humans. These qualities collectively contribute to why cats are widely regarded as one of the cutest and most beloved pets.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.😊😊😊😊

I have a scottish fold with a recessive gene (straight ears) that the video doesn't even bother to mention. Their features are just as rounded and adorable.
Let me tell you. She is allergic to everything. Everything. Allergic to 99% of all foods on the market (including 2 hypoallergenic types). Allergic to cleaning products (aka unscented everything). Allergic to dust. Allergic to pollen. Allergic to the anti-allergy medicine. Allergic to side compunds of vitamins. That's not all, though - stress or low humidity can ALSO make her allergies flare up.
We've been to the vet SO many times, she knows how her health book and card look like, and knows we're going to the vet if I pack those.
She's the loveliest and sweetest cat ever, and I love her to bits, but she has her own savings acount after deflating mine to zero multiple times.
She's also incredibly docile and gets alonng great with my pet bird and plants.

unfortunately their ears are floppy because of a gene that makes the cartilage weak, and it doesn't just affect their ears. Scottish folds suffer from health problems like arthritis earlier in life because the weak cartilage between their bones wears down quickly and they endure a lot of pain as they get older.
not saying you shouldnt adopt or give a scottish fold a good life should you come across one at a shelter or as a stray, but please reconsider financially supporting breeders and encouraging the floppy eared gene to carry on

@@_mollusc_lover_1509 My current ‘monkey’ we rescued from a family friends house, we think he had quite the journey & most certainly wasn’t a street cat all his young life (estimated age around a year old back then), he would let you stroke his head but anything below that he’d bend his body away & wouldn’t let you touch him (he’s much better now but due to his rather distinctive personality, if he’s in a grump he won’t like you stroking him! Lol), he had no chip & despite our best efforts no one came forward to claim him, so he stayed. I live in the UK & it’s much safer for cats to go outside here, I had 5 other cats at the time & I just couldn’t keep the window (live in a bungalow - 1 storey / ground floor house) closed as it wouldn’t have been fair on them, so my mum & I said if he goes he goes, we can’t lock him up.. turns out he knew what side his bread was buttered as he came back diligently every day! However, he would appear in peoples cars during the spring & summer (they’d leave their windows open - live in a quiet cul de sac), an ambulance was called for my Dad once, gave the paramedic quite the fright as he made himself at home on their bed lol. So we had to make sure neighbours & visitors closed their windows, & wondered if he got to this area by travelling in someone’s vehicle!
He’s now 16, in fantastic health, & our old vet thinks he’s part Maine coon - he’s a BIG boy!
I’m going to be interested to see the age he lives to (hopefully many years yet), as he’s the only kitty I’ve ever had that’s likely of any ‘breed’ (very distinctive looking, wish I could share a piccie!)
Someone I know spent thousands buying 2 foxtail cats… 1 of them is only 5 years old & receiving end of life care (& has already had 2 litters.. she has her daughter living with her..) as she’s in renal failure & going blind.
That’s just absolutely insane to me, not just the fact you’re losing your furrbaby at such a young age (& they’ve been unnecessarily bred twice!), but that you paid thousands for them in the first place.
I love that you & your family have adopted / rescued so many kitties - it’s such a rewarding thing to do isn’t it? 🥰 x

The folded ears are not natural. They are a symptom of a cartilage disease osteochondrodysplasia. This results in deformities in their cartilage throughout their body which causes lots of pain issues and sometimes results in cats being euthanized at a young age because they are in too much pain. Breeding this type of cat or promoting their "cuteness" on social media is highly unethical as it results in more cats being born in a life of pain just because humans think they look "cute".

Fun fact the fold in their ear is cause by very weak cartilage defect so the ears litterally collapse under their own weight, but that isn't exclusive to their ears only and leads to weak cartilage in every single joint of their body causing very early joint issues and an array of other health problems. If you don't have a massive bank in order to keep the cat comfortable once it gets sick, get a different breed.

Or just pick up a kitten from a farm, there's always so many kittens born and these kittens could really use a home. That's what I did and now I have the most beautiful boy with a lovely personality, completely for free. The farmer even wanted me to take multiple kittens because there were so many. I love the kitten I got, he's now 3 years old and I couldn't imagine living without him anymore.

@@asurmenhandofasuryan4610 The thought of buying a cat is crazy for me. There's so many in my neighbourhood. I got one because she showed up at my house when she was a kitten. I'm a dog person anyway.

Hi, zoologist here. You were completely disingenuous when you said they were healthy. The gene that causes the folded ears also affects their bones, so many Scottish Folds suffer from spinal, skeletal, and neurological problems. They are highly prone to having strokes, and if you breed two cats with folded ears, 100% of the kittens will die. THAT'S why they are so expensive, because of the difficulty breeding them and the high rate of kitten mortality.
Please do not support the breeding and sale of these cats. You will be indirectly supporting their suffering.

Personally, I don't think we should put prices on animals of any kind and with that said, we shouldn't mass produce animals either for people to just adopt
We should love what we have and love them too. Not treat them like a product
