- The final part of UK's greatest roads trip with myself and @baldandbankrupt ended in Scotland! We finally made it after 3 long days of driving and seeing the wonders of Britain. What we was not expecting was Scotland to be our favourite place! We first made it to Glasgow in hunt for Scottish cuisine, haggis and Irn-Bru! Before heading through the highlands to the finishing point at John o Groats, what a journey it was! 🇬🇧

Do more of these with bald , Ireland would be class after seeing u go across England wales and Scotland
I hope they dress up like pretty sheep and smile real big on there visit.
Great shout that like. You just know it would be gold already.
big up people of Scotland! loved it there 😎
Show us red head of Britain too 😁
You should have visited the towns in Scottish Borders
I love Scotland
Scotlands great pal just great
Where's Harald Baldr been?
"We're not a couple, he' my dad." 😂👍
Love Scotland! I hitchhiked all over UK & Ireland many years back, but didn't make it all the way to the northernmost point. So many legends gave me a ride...more than 100 people! Cheers🍻
Honestly a brilliant 3 part series guys that was excellent British banter the entire time
it's a Bold statement saying the Scottish despise the English i didn't find that at all and I've spent a lot of time in Glasgow with my Scouse accent i love Glasgow
Within 'English culture', Scouse is really Irish and 50% of Glasgow can been see to be Irish.
It’s all banter. I’m very aware it’s fine
@@BackpackerBen i thought so...the so called "Rough" areas and cities are always friendlier
@@spacemanclips and ironically despite blaming the English for invasion the Scottish have invaded Ireland way more times than the English have. The amount of Irish the Scottish slaughtered is off the scale, if you do some research on ancient history you’ll get the true picture. Plus all that shared heritage comes from mass rape and pillaging of towns and villages right across Ireland, by Scottish soldiers.
Are Scousers English?
As an Englishman living in Scotland it’s hilarious how worried you were, as long as you don’t slag off the country they’re sound.
It’s all banter mate cmon. We were not worried
British humour is the best thank you guys so much from Canada. I really get a kick out of all your videos.
Warms my heart when people who have never been to Edinburgh fall in love with it so quickly. Greatest city in the UK by a long shot, so much culture and energy and vibrancy. Do yourselves a favour and return for a couple of days, you'll have a wonderful time.
not the greatest city in the UK
I’d love to return 😎
@@gazriley624 And yet you neglected to mention what IS (in your opinion) the greatest one. Scared we'll all laugh at you when we compare it to Edinburgh? ;-)
@@iankogneeto4882 yes i forgot...it's Liverpool followed by London i do like Edinburgh and Leeds though but the thing about Edinbourgh is they knocked down my fave Pub the Tap o' Lauriston and it's a long time since I've been there it's not the greatest as it's too small and once you go not too far out the centre you hit Leith and some rough housing estates
@@gazriley624 I enjoyed Liverpool...definitely one of the best UK Cities but like Edinburgh you don't have to venture far from the centre before you hit some right sh*t holes...same as every city really.
Scotland is beautiful! And the people have the best sense of humour 😎
Lmaooooo that joke about the girl from Bristol! Class!😂😂😂
The Bristol girls can take the banter ;)
I remember a Scottish male in a Flixbus from Hamburg to Amsterdam. I take a seat behind him and he started talking to me. He told me that he like to fight with English people and he told some stories about his fights 😂 With a volume that everybody could understand him in the Bus. My feel was very uncomfortable but I was afraid to cut off the conversation with him.
Never feelt luckier to exit a Bus after this 😂
And that’s why I was worried to film 😆😆😆😆 heard many stories like this
@@BackpackerBen I think that in all prejudices of nations is a core of verity but scumbags you have in all countries. I also want to visit Scotland one time and I see there live mostly nice people and it would be a adventure :)
For some reason Scottish racism against the English is acceptable, whilst the English massively subsidise the Scottish economy. The dirty secret, little reported, is that either the English don't care because it's too far away, or the English closer by, would rather they f*** off a go independent.
Their appetite for independence tends to rise and fall with the oil price. Interestingly several areas who hold the oil supplies say they would seek independence from an independent Scotland, which would be an interesting outcome for the racist Scottish nationalists,.
Typical loudmouth Jock!
He was probably the biggest bullshitter in Scotland at the time and had probably never been in a fight in his life. There's plenty of folk like that here.
When you come back to the US, let me show you around Vegas, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Keep up the great work, Gentlemen!
the guy who looked like Bald from the back ha ha brilliant he even had the same Jacket on
I'm Scottish and I have no problem with English people, we're stronger together.
🤝
So glad you saw Edinburgh, the most beautiful city of all, absolutely stunning
Yeh Edinburgh is beautiful. Haven’t been there for years, I must visit again. Great night out aswell, went on a stag do up there and we had a great time.
Haggis is bloody wonderful :- Haggis (Scottish Gaelic: taigeis) is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and cooked while traditionally encased in the animal's stomach though now an artificial casing is often used instead.
Before you turn your nose up at it,read the ingredients for hotdogs or cheap beefburgers !
It's really not much different to sausage 'meat'.
Spot on Neil :)
It might be wonderful, but it sounds revolting.
Dinnae listen to the stereotypes, we don’t have a problem with the English at all. Maybe a wee problem with Westminster, but not you guys. Scotland is one of the most friendly places to travel to. Glad you enjoyed it and hope we’ve changed your perspective. 😀
Dinnae 😆 quality word. Yeah it’s all rumours 👍👍
They literally had someone say "why doesn't that English tosser get out of my f*cking country". What an embarrassment. But the SNP seem to encourage it.
Lets be honest Sally, nearly half of Scotland does, but it's not at a personal level.
@@spacemanclips It's not half at all. It's a relatively small minority of Saltire flag-shagging Nationalists.
@@spacemanclips WOW what a small insular little brain you must have to assume the 50% of Scots who want independence dont like English folk , it's not about you it never was , how about growing a backbone and be proud to be an English man stand tall and stop pretending you're in a union with folk who you hold in contempt
Welcome to scotland 💙 loved the banter guys very funny keep up the good work. 🇬🇧🏴🏴
Scotland looks beautiful. It really reminds me of driving through the Appalachian mountains of America. I can see why so many of the Scottish and Irish settled there.
I love the alternate look of Bald's videos, thanks for do this.
Loved this series with bald, used to live in Plymouth myself and now living in Inverness so it’s nice to see you journey across the U.K. those Inverness hotel prices are bevause of the time of year you came, height of tourist season so prices go up by about £80!
Haggis is brilliant with brown sauce. The one you had was a chippy version, in batter. Usually it's a bit bigger and round and wrapped in a sheep's stomache and I think it's boiled. I did a pub crawl from Glagow city centre, to the Northen suburbs and probably visited about 15 random pubs and it was all OK.
10:30 It is insane to me how different the accent is from Englad to Scottland given that the distance is honestly not that big. It is like crossing Texas, accents in here do not change that drastically. Quite fascinating
I’m a far eastern Asian , never been to Scotland , but even I know what haggis is , because I watched Anthony Bourdain .
I was born in the U.S. but my blood is strongly Scottish and Rob Roy McGregor a direct ancestor. After Scottish I have Irish, English and least of all German. I moved to Thailand 25 years ago and have a house and a Thai wife and am 67 years old but people say look 54, CHEERS!!!
This is the first Backpacker Ben video I've watched and I just subscribed. I'm only 5 minutes in but I watched Bald's version of this trip. Your manners are admirable - on Bald's videos you're obviously staying quiet because it's his baby and here Bald is hanging in the background a bit. I know it's not a big deal but it's nice to see.
Thanks for watching Casey! :)
I think the guy outside the bar said “you missed it then, mate. If you didn’t have the sugar you didn’t have the actual taste of it… they might not’ve ruined it though”
Glad to see you both together!
Haggis is sold as lungs, stomach, heart etc but is actually bum holes, bawbags and general floor sweepings from the slaughter house
Sorry - having lived in Scotland for almost 25 years I can tell you that in 99% of cases there is no anti English sentiment. Scots treat people well - if you are being an arsehole then then you will be treated to reflect it. Iron Bru is brilliant and so is Haggis. Your first taste of haggis is not typical of the product.
Patella make iron bru ice-cream that you can have with your deep fried mars bar.
Yeah, I thought that haggis looked deep fried... 🤔
No idea irn bru was scotish we got it there in UK it just not so popular like other drinks .
What you can get Irn Bru ice cream? That sounds mental😂 love too try it though.
Famous saying in Scotland you'll have more fun at a Glasgow stabbing than an Edinburgh wedding (im a wedding musician from Edinburgh and can concur)
Easter House is on the Celtic republican part of the city. If you sung God Save The Queen you would get abuse because its linked to northern Ireland troubles) Years ago the area you were was on of the most dangerous areas in the UK.
Loch Ness is expensive because of the amount of tourists who go there but Loch Lomond next to glasgow is prettier. Hope you avoid the midges (like mosquitos).
When the earth was one continent (Pangea) Loch Ness was physically linked to USA The Appalachian Mountains. They still call them hillbillies from protestant Scots Irish ancestry
Glad you like Scotland lol. I was shocked how London looks so amazing but a lot of parts of England looked like Coronation Street.
We do our version of fried breakfast with potato scone (best bit) black pudding or haggis. You'll probably like red kola and deep fried pizza. I'll need to try a deep fried mars bar.
lol that's a funny saying, I kinda get it unless you're the one being stabbed, or indeed married
The first pizza I ever had was deep fried. In a chippy just found the corner from the seven ways in Brig'ton. I'd just worked a train into Brig'ton Central that's how long ago it was.
Yeh Glasgow is still very sectarian in parts. You get those strange Scottish Celtic supporters who think their Irish and sing pro I.R.A songs. Never get that, especially when the Celtic vs Rangers games are on and you see Scots walking around Glasgow with Ireland flags🤷🏻♂️
"What's different about the haggis supper?"
"It comes with chips."
🤣 only in Glasgow ! 😂
The chips are the supper part...haggis without the chips is called a single haggis.
"Supper" is used in all chippies in Scotland to mean with chips
I thought you were supposed to have haggis and neeps?
@@MrDavidc yeah, it's more of a family meal. I've never had Haggis from a chippy before. If you make it at home you make it with neeps and tatties.
Been Scotland so many times,by train and coach, explored for 3 days on Scottish Citylink pass many times, or wandered around by train, never a problem, never even thought about feeling un safe, even at 3am in morning at Glasgow bus station waiting coach to Aberdeen, love Scotland great place, fantastic scenery.
I am not from Scotland, I've never been there, I don't know anybody from Scotland but I love IRN BRU since I was a kid.
Bloody hell great vlog
Like how when he said its a mini Cooper says "we not a couple" 😂😂😂
Glasgow my favourite city in Scotland, best peoples!
Edinburgh is one of my fave cities i was last there in 2006 though been a long time! Great video Ben
Haggis Supper and a can of ginger, I bet that sorted your hangover right out. Glad you had a good time, a lot of these places have a bad reputation but in reality the people would give you the shirts off of their own backs if you were ever in need.
English people seem quite fond of muttering or whispering. Conversations are happening but much of it is inaudible. Things are being communicated somehow.
the weathers not warm in scotland but the people are
Nice one ben really enjoying this series
Thank you mate
Hiya pal, we've loved these videos and subbed to you because of them. Your others look really interesting too!
Really glad you enjoyed yourselves here in Scotland and we didn't show ourselves up- see, we don't all hate the English, just the fannies 😝
Appreciate that mate! 😎
Lovely Scotland🏴🐻🇬🇧
Love it mate
bloody brilliant
Edinburgh, most probably one of the best cities in Europe, a beautiful place to visit but not at those hotel prices.....cheaper ones are available.
So glad you did this with Bald as would not have come across your channel otherwise. Been ill at home the past few days and your Pakistan videos have kept me entertained, so thank you.
Hope you guys do another venture together soon, maybe include Simon Wilson for a trio, now that would be a laugh.
Cheers
Steve
One of the worst hotel experiences of my life in Edinburgh - literally a used tampon in the room - seriously contemplated staying the night in the hire car.
Appreciate that Steve 👏🏼😎
Lovely to see old Grassmarket again! Edinburgh is a great city! Never had the deep fried Mars bar though and don't think I will.
The maddest thing is I really enjoy the British videos you both do but I don’t like going round myself😂
I like these Dad and Son series :D
The real home of the deep fried mars bar belongs to, “The Carron” in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
Also great live music this Friday 1st July, up in Ullapool, at Argyll Hotel.
You two make a great team, I really enjoyed the videos!
Another great video. Edinburgh looks amazing. Really cool to see that part of the journey that Bald and Bankrupt omitted. Glad I discovered this channel.
Thanks for watching mate
Drink every time Ben says "I'm knackered" or "Jesusssss Christ" in all his videos. Fun drinking game. 😅
What beautiful and hospitality people wow wonderful country ❤️😊
Love the duo
wauw.....from Harald Balder...to Bald and bankrupt....to you....love your
stuff....I will be watching U
Legend cheers Dave
Iets not forget Simon 🤙
Great video and the one in Blackpool Lancashire. I laughed at the bin view in Inverness.
Stunning scenery
Please do Britain again. Absolutely loved this!
My god. We payed 100 quid a night in Edinburgh in 4* hotel 500m from train station in July 4 years ago. Weather was nice except day on arrival. We took a really long walk to the sea. Saw the zoological garden and the Queen Elizabeth II ship. A few Scottish pints and walked back. Really nice city. Did also a bus tour to a lake, castles and a whisky distillery.
Hey Ben. Hello from Canada Enjoying the channel, thanks for entertainment!
Thanks Erik 😎😎
This reminds me a little bit of Top Gear trips. Idk why :)
Loving the videos, Edinburgh is great. Did a ghost hunt at the vaults there and was pretty active.
I don't think Ben is aware how close he was to getting battered by that guy outside the Easterhouse bar
I’m very aware 🤣
10:07 probs been said by now but what he’s saying is that when the sugar tax was introduced in 2018 barr’s changed the recipe to include less sugar and more sweeteners as if they kept it at the same sugar level as the original the can would have been more expensive than it was previously. So it stayed the same price but doesn’t taste as good as it used to.
@Glasgow Rossco agreed mate
'Loch Ness...Lake' 😅🥲
13:05 It looks like the view from the station in Trainspotting where the lads went.
It really does
Your coverage of Scotland was better than Bald's coverage. Thank you.
Yeah? Well I don’t want you here after your childish negative comments so bye 👋
@@BackpackerBen loool was this reaction to a different comment than Bills?

Good times
Glad you enjoyed Scotland! Also funny that you posted this a few hours after the announcement of a referendum date for Scottish independence next year.
The racist nationalist Krankie announces it everyday - much to her annoyance the majority of Scots consistently vote to stay a part of Great Britain. As a proud Englishman, I wish every Scotsman their independence from massive English subsidies and think they should jump at the chance of EU subjugation.
Result will be the same as the last one, wee krankie will resign like fat alec did last time. Every cloud has a silver lining! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Oh, what will you give me?
Say the bald bells of Rim me (Rhymney)
"Is there hope for the future?"
Say the Tower Baldroom of Blackpool
"Who made the haggis and the Irn Bru?
said Backpacker Ben
"Deep Fried Mars Bar"
groaned the grim bells of Edinburgh
Awesome video dude. Scotland looks like good craic
Good fun mate
Was waiting for this 😁😁😁
Did you mean Mars bar in batter, we have a chicken and chip shop in Enfield that sells those so it's crazy you couldn't find them in their place of origin xD
Lovely to see you guys together.. awesome video..cool wet weather tho but you guys always make it happen...thanks
I came to your videos via Balds channel, but really enjoying them.
Thanks mate! Welcome
love this series mate!
Thanks mate
It's a young man's sport, Mr Bald. I gave it all away, when I was 36, because I was sick of being sick
I saw the Loch Ness Monster on Lake St, Clair in 1971!
If you ever go up to Scotland again near to Loch Ness then drive 30 minutes away to Glen Affric. It is stunning!
Edinburgh is an awesome city. Edinburgh Festival was amazing when I went. Also hiking up to the top of Arthur's seat has epic views of the whole of the city. Top 5 most beautiful city on Europe. 1 in the UK in my opinion.
Amazing trip. Thank you for confirming I never need to go to Blackpool
Drinking buckfast then driving ? Tut tut Ben 😂
Great video lads 👍🏻
Yous done well getting out of Easterhouse alive 😂😂
That room for £125 was a total rip off
It’s the Highlands for you, all the hotels are extortionate up there. Even a basic B&B can set you back 50/60 quid a night.
Tried Buckfast as a Brit in Germany the first time last year. Fucking disgusting
Needs to be freezing 🥶
Britain weather and the Red meat wow...- Loved Trainspotting movie.. Ewan movie...
Seen in Anthony Bourdain videos visit to SCOTLAND .. MARS fried ones....
Lovely mate.. Ben...
Lovely scotland
In 1997 I was given the chance to travel anywhere United Airlines flew, for $33USD each way and I had 4 one way tickets. I WAS going to fly to Edinburgh Scotland because I saw a movie once that was set in Scotland and the women in it were not only friendly, they were beautiful and I wanted to go and find a Scottish wife(I was 21 and full of hopes and dreams). I never traveled outside the USA and I just graduated from Technical school and wanted a better life. I sadly changed me mind and flew to Chile instead.. Came back home with many electrical sockets and switches I liked to collect from around the globe, but no wife and no girlfriend.. As a Puerto Rican I just blended in too well in Chile I guess.. I wonder what could have been in Scotland in 1997? I guess my biggest fear now is racism since that seems to be in vogue again. But who knows? I still see Edinburgh and think back to what could have been.. Sad but true.. Haggis? I was told it was sheep's BLADDER stuffed with mince meat and rice and spices.. Hence why so many around the globe say do not eat that lol! Meanwhile in Puerto Rico, my local pub is serving up pig intestines stuffed with mince meat and rice and deep fried or stewed!
Sheep intestine stuffed with oats barley spices and lambs heart and lung. Lovely stuff, puts hairs on your chest 🤣🤣
@@WeAreThePeople1690 LOL LOL!
