You actually can do it on either one you wish. Hagarmans can be easy as pie or it can be a bit difficult just all depends on the amounts of rain wash it out from time to time. Other than that I would surely say go for it on the one depending on the trip you take.
Just went over that going the other way on my loaded Super Tenere. Hope to be taking rides like this 20 years from now like you friend's Dad. Inspirational!
OH MAN your not kidding. my friends dad is a trooper for sure. actually we are heading to WY to do the BDR the first week of September and i believe his dad is going to be joining us again. How was Hagermans this year? ive not made it up their yet but ive been down to the south of CO as well as Utah this year.
@@RockyMountainMotoAdventures Hagerman was challenging--rocky and steep. Nothing unusual compared to the videos I've watched on UA-cam. No snow. The water crossing on the North side was running steady.
The COBDR map totally undersells this section of the route. We were expecting a nice relaxing day and then.........THIS! 😲 The video cameras never really show the degree of incline/decline very well. This climb is much steeper than it looks on video. I also had to stop just below where the Dad went down, to help my buddy get going. It wasn't easy to get myself going either! Good riding, boys!
Thank you for commenting. I totally agree with you that I believe that the COBDR totally down plays hagarmans. I've taken this pass when its been a very lets say as smooth of a road a possible to one year in 2017 after massive rains washed the trail out so much it was the rockiest ive ever been on. Honestly it was harder than Hurricane pass or even California at that time. So all depends on mother nature at that time. The funny thing where my buddies dad went down is exactly where i did in 2017, toppled over and i landed on a rock from falling off. broke my wrist and fractured a rib. Talk about a very long ride down to turquoise lake
Thanks for the video, I moved to Leadville area 2 years ago. I recently sold my Harley and bought a Polaris Ranger 900 xp and really want to take Hagermanns. Thanks again for the video! Also if you crank handlebars all the way and put you butt against seat and walk backwards it's a lot easier to lift the bike. Great video
Thank you! Yep love Leadville and is my wife favorite spot as well. Done this on the 1200GS and 800GS and have to say it just depends on the year what the conditions will be like but overall a really great way to spend the day
I rode a pass from The Frying Pan / Basalt to Eagle in 2018. Have you ever done that one? It would make a great return route. I forgot the name of it. 🤠🤠 🏍🏍🏍
having done it in a jeep! props to those who do this on motorcycles! I was thinking arm pump/death grip must occur for much of it as I was seated in a comfy wheel vehicle!
Its a great place to ride and we do it quit often. This video is with my buddy Jonathan and his 75yr old dad which is on the 650GS. One hell of a rider i have to say. He comes out and we do the COBDR each year.
Hey bud long time no see. I hear you, my pace when im alone is so much quicker but was nice to meet up with my buddy and his dad for this little section. I was very impressed though that his dad was 73yrs old on when shooting this video and was a trooper. never had anything to complain about nothing and just kept going. Id like to hope im still riding at that age well i hope i make it to that age lol
@@RockyMountainMotoAdventures Don't misunderstand, I meant that I would be the old guy falling, duct taping and zip-tying splints to my legs :-) Not faulting anyone believe me :-)
Still love this video! That was a great day with my best friend and my Father!
Yes it was a bad ass day
This is one I haven’t done yet. I don’t know whether to do it on my 650 Dakar or my Norden 901. This beautiful! Thanks for sharing. ♥️♥️🏍️🏍️

@@RockyMountainMotoAdventures ya think my 650 Dakar would be the ticket for this?
Lol, I actually think that spot at 7:20 is where I dumped the bike as well. Hagerman is no joke.
Yep that spot got me good when i was on my 05 1200GS.

Yes that is the opposite side of Hagarmans as you head into Basalt then up into Glenwood Springs.

Shout out!! from coloardo springs Coloardo
Thanks for watching. Have you gotten up to any good riding before winter hit?
If people are looking for a challenge this is worth a look...
For sure. I keep making it a point to take on Hagarmans once a year and love it
Better or worse than when we did it?
some parts where worse but the entire trail changes depending on the traffic it gets, rain, and so on but some places just stayed the same.
Why I don't ride with people :-)

LOL i thought you were saying you would be the dakar racer speeding through everything lol
You boys figgered out that its a lot safer and easier to stand on the pegs riding shit like this?
Think you can keep up with a 76 yr old man riding shit like this? Id put money on it any day
