That made a big difference! Nice job, Ben! My preference would be to be rid of the artificial turf and prep the soil beds and seed it with grass. It would be low maintenance and make a pleasant green garden that Barbara can enjoy while having a tea or meal.
Artificial grass awful. Grass is more more environmentally friendly too, anything outside becomes a burden to the infirm if they can't maintain it. Theres low maintenance, but there's never a no maintenance garden!
Ewwww that nasty green carpet should have been taken out...Ben should have advise Barbara that fake moss /carpet should be toss out..i cant imagine the stunk musty dirty filthy smell
Wow what a great clean up job on that back garden. If I was Barbara, I would make a path down the middle once she removes that fake grass. Then I would plant a nice vegetable garden on the left and right she can pick from. Tomatoes, cabbage, red bell peppers, sweet onions, green onions, cherry tomatoes (very expensive here to buy), even cantelope at the back. She could save a lot of money with fresh garden stuff that wouldn't cost much to buy or maintain. Nice family outro. Those kids will have these video's for when they are old. I still love baked pumpkin seeds. A rare treat!

I cannot believe you are just beaming at the beginning of these videos. If I’d walked up or open a gate on some of the messes you’ve cleaned up - I’d cry! Bless her heart! One of the hardest things for us elderly is asking for help. I bet she hasn’t had her drapes opened in quite a while! You and you family are the best! Much love! ❤️
This was a beautiful job, Ben. If Barbara's not a gardener, I'd recommend a creeping ground cover for the soil. If she just doesn't have the time to garden but loves flowers, lavender, dianthus, flowering shrubby plants can do the trick. Of course there's always planting individuals with a 4" mulch layer. This isn't a weed free solution but will help a lot.

Gosh, that was a real weed-fest! Shame the lovely brickwork is covered by the green ‘carpet’. Hopefully in the spring Barbara will be able to plant some nice evergreen shrubs that will be low maintenance and provide colour all year. Lavender would also be nice and not too much work. You did a great job particularly given the absence of drainage! Theo’s outfit was so cute! Yes, Arthur saying ‘pumkin’ was the cutest! Love that he got muddy and didn’t even seem to notice!

Shrubs along the fences, maybe lower perennials away from the fences, like lavender, catmint (bees love the blue flowers), penstemons, heuchera, and then lower groundcovers and mulch. Perhaps a bird bath and something comfy to sit on and a table to rest a cup and plate on.

Same here. I would cut the artifical turf to cover the dirt areas and leave the bricks exposed , to give some character to the 'backyard '{as we call it here in Florida, U.S.A} I enjoy watching the great work you do.

Wow, that's a stunner. Great area to start on in the spring, I would suggest various succulents if gardening is a problem for Barbara, don't take much caring for and they can be placed in things that are a good hight to avoid bending or kneeling. You can get nice trailing ones, flowery ones and some also cover the ground areas. Bet she can't stop looking out back. Loved the outro as always, Thank you so much.

Lovely job. That top area is just gagging for a nice bit of gravel in the mud areas. Or preferably, throw a load of grass seed in there and let it grow.

Also a patio table, chairs and umbrella would look nice. Also because of no drainage I would put raised planters with colorful plants. Something she could do in spring. Love family outtro. What a transformation! Suggestions for spring: Paving the centre strip arond the decorative paving and to the right would give a nice area for table and chairs. Raised beds along the fences would give flower beds that are easier to look after without having to get down on hands and knees. Maybe flowers to attract bees butterflies and birds- meadow flowers would be easy care.

The front and back areas look lovely now! Great job!! In the back I would plant clover as a ground cover as it stays low, eventually spreads and covers the area without being evasive. It’s soft under foot and looks beautiful. She can use a lightweight manual push mower, no batteries or petrol, every few weeks.

Artificial turf also needs maintenance. Dirt collects and weeds populate. Looks terrible. 😫

They both had pumpkins and skeleton costumes but Theo has a few marvel costumes in his dressing up box too

The front and back areas look lovely now! Great job!! In the back I would plant clover as a ground cover as it stays low, eventually spreads and covers the area without being evasive. It’s soft under foot and looks beautiful. She can use a lightweight manual push mower, no batteries or petrol, every few weeks.

The brickwork and pavers look like someone prepared that back garden to grow veggies or flowers in tidy beds. That is what I would do with it.

brilliant job, Barbara must have been so happy🙂 if that was my garden, I'd trim the astroturf to fit round the borders, then plant them with ferns or feature grasses which look good but require virtually no upkeep. and i for one am glad you're still wearing shorts!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
