  • When backing up a trailer, which way do you turn the steering wheel? Here's a simple trick to KNOW which way to turn your steering wheel as you back up your trailer. Save your marriage and embarrassment by using this one simple trick when backing up any trailer.
The pressure of backing up a trailer in public is IMMENSE! The possibility for laughter and ridicule is off the charts, especially when backing down a crowded boat ramp.
You need your trailer to go to the left, but what direction do you need to turn your steering wheel to accomplish this??
Your partner is helping you back up and keeps yelling things like...
    "Straighten it out!"
"LEFT!! LEFT!! I said LEFT!! Wait, RIGHHHHHHT!!!!" (Whose effing left you idiot!!??)
"I think you need to start over honey!"
Then there's the sinking feeling when you hear and feel a "CRUNCH"... oops there goes someone's taillight.
I hope this video helps simplify the backing up process for you.
I have one more simple trailer-backing tip that I'll make another video soon if I get any positive response from this one.

Glad you found it helpful. Practice when you get your trailer. Go to an empty parking lot and practice backing in a straight line using your mirrors.
Then try to parallel park up against a painted line. Do this for both sides.
This will take some of the intimidation out of it.
