Jacob, I appreciate that you add the shorting rings to the motors of the newer designs. Alot of people including myself like SQ & SPL and it gives me peace of mind crossing over higher knowing its helping the inductance spikes.... Alot of other manufacturers dont care because they know most people dont even know what that is.

Oh man this one is interesting! I love the SD series, but it would be nice to have a shallower sub that is optimized for a ported enclosure. Those little 2.5’s are 🤘🏼🔥

Just bought an extended cab pick up and it came with a ported box under the seat. I’m definitely throwing this thing in there

1000th Like woohoo and I’m actually in the market for this style of sub. I have been doing my research for replacements for the two subs(well over 10 years old) that I just blew the other day.
i just installed 2 12" SLDs in a subthump sealed box in my C6 corvette...sounds really good...very punchy bass but then again, it is a sealed box...going to eventually make a custom ported box that will fit these subs...kinda hard working with small spaces like the trunk of the corvette

I have 4 sd2 10s in a huge ported upfiring car box. I won't sell them. Or the stitched sa15 in a "console topped" probox. I have the ns18 v1 on the bucket list. Great product thanks guys
Just put two of these in an under seat truck enclosure with the sundown 1750 amp. Pretty good sound. Not dissatisfied

I'm loving these shallow options. Now that I live out in the mountains, I'm really seeing the demand for 6.5", 8", and shallow mount options since many people drive work trucks. This is probably a silly question, but is there any chance of seeing a SD or SLD 15"? Every year, I give Google a little "15 shallow subwoofer" search, hoping to see a game changer. Even if it was a limited run with a 15" basket and suspension on the 12" motor and coil, I think it would be a really cool experiment for all the single-cab bass junkies who like big cone subs

I have 2 of these 10 inch subs in my truck
Running 1400 watts to both and let me tell you, there's absolutely no shallow mount sound coming from these bad boyz . These hit hard as f*** and sound like normal subs. This is a must buy!!

I have an 04 crew cab silverado. You should be good.. at 1 time I had 4 10s .2 behind the seats and downfire under..rite now I have 2 behind the the rear seats in a fox box enclosed

I have 1 of these 12s d4 in a 1.5 ported box behind the seat of my standard cab chevy truck on term lab I hit 136db on 700 watts and it's taking the power like a champ
These subs are worth the money man. I got 1 12 in a ported center console box and mannn it does well.

Lol they have made affordable lineups of subs for a long time. The Sundown LCS, the EV series, SD series and even the badass SA series all for around 200 or less.

I have 2. sld-12s in my dodge mega cab. They are pretty impressive for 2-12s in a sealed box. Not hitting lows like I want tho so I’m dumping the Hifonics amp and gonna get a rp2000 and see if there’s any improvement
i would stay awake from RP amps if you can get the SK amp its WAY better

I prefer the sound of the ported box, but I'm afraid that the drive of the sld's would hot the sear.

I would really check your depth. You save an inch in front of the cone on the SD4 vs the SLD.
The SD4 also will tolerate ported boxes but thermally not nearly the abuse the SLD will.

I bought 2 10" D4's and put them in a separately chambered sealed enclosure with 1sqft per sub on a CXA800.1 they sounded pretty good so I decided to install a SAE 1000.1 and they sounded just a little better. 2 days ago I swapped out the SAE 1000.1 for a Wolfram audio Artic Wolf 1500.1. I have never had any experiences like this before but it was a very big mistake. Too much power. I took the sealed enclosure out and put in a TRU-SPEC dual 10" ported enclosure made for 2 SAv2 10"s.
Believe it the Sundown Audio SLD 3 loves ported enclosures. Anything over 500 watts and just port it. The 10" SD 3 sounds way better than my 8" L7's even the 10" L7. Next up is a set of 10" SA Classics in the Tru-Spec enclosure same Wolfram 1500.1. Then the JP23V1.5 or JP23v2 with a pair of SAv2 10"s. Got my electrical system upgraded to handle at least 10k rms. Soon enough I will have my Surge 7k and ZV6 10"s in a Bassahaulic Production designed 4th order.

When will you be doing another mythbusters video? I would like to know about inverting a subwoofer and having to reverse polarities? Also about the battery delete when moving from AGM to Lithium. Love the info and channel.
I tested that myself many times before, no you dont need to reverse anything, power and score on termlab doesnt change :)
" shallow mount" to Sundown has its own interpretation I guess. Id call this a reduced depth over the standard lineup but shallow it is not. Given there are no depth specifications provided it looks even taller than the SD12 which is marketed as a shallow mount, 4.8" depth. Also, if that coil isn't tapping the back plate and launching well outside of the gap its not turned up enough.

I think this is Sundown's solution to offering more SA series results in a package that allows the sub to be mounted in more restrictive spaces. I wouldn't whine about the semantics too much. It's incredible that they offer such a wide range of subwoofer options. Now, if they'd just get around to making a SD or SLD 15"... 🤤

I had them in a regular ported enclosure GP dynamic and they sounded great. They have yet to be fully tested by me. I have some plans for them.

What's the difference between Xmech (full amount the sub can mechanically move without damage), and the often quoted Xmax parameter?
Xmax is 1 wat excursion to a given BL(70% usually). Xmech is the 2 way throw where the suspension will hard stop the cone or the former will touch the back plate.
