Session 6 Pagden, Nucleus & Modified Demaree

Welcome to session 6 in my All About Bees swarming and swarm control video collection. Today we are looking at swarm control, i.e. what you do when you discover unsealed queen cells in your hive. To be blunt with you, most beekeepers I have met don't have a clue what they are doing when it comes to swarm control and when asked what they do, they will tend to merge one or two different methods together which if carried out would be doomed to end in failure. I will be covering the Pagden method, otherwise known as the artificial swarm, only because it is part of the beekeeping exam syllabus and you need to know how to perform it if taking exams. I will then show you what I consider to be the best and easiest method, the nucleus method and end with a modified Demaree, which I also use.
