As a rzr 1k owner who has driven and absolutely beaten on a talon. I can honestly say the talon can take on absolute hell of a beating. I have been driving my brothers talon for the last 2 weeks, and put 500 hard miles on it so far. I have done rock crawling, mud bogging, hill climbing, jumped the hell out of it, and flipped it twice. It has held up better than any rzr I have owend/ driven. The thing is a tank. The only negative I can even say about it as of right now is that i do wish it had more power at times.
Jackson Racing has been working with Honda to come up with a turbo kit. They just announced the release. Honda is also going to make it a factory option soon!
I’ve been a Honda guy for almost 4 decades. I still have Honda dirt bikes. But my 2020 Polaris RS1 is the best thing I have ever bought in my entire life. Period.
If you're constantly changing belts on your RZR you either have something wrong with your clutches, or you're not driving it properly. We get thousands of miles out of ours. The Talon is a great machine, and I might end up with one at some point. The X model is the way to go here on the East coast where we don't need turbo horsepower, and the width of the R would be a hinderance on tight trails. That said, I don't see the Talon R being very popular out West because it has a severe lacking in power compared to the flagship desert/dune cars from Polaris and Canned Ham. I'd want at least 2 solid model years out and abused before I bought a Talon though. I don't think Honda has ever made something that actually has enough power to break things before LOL.
Agree, they are "durable" because they are underpowered. If you want durability from a rzr you need to not be a cheap ass and go up to at least an xp1000 with its heavier duty components. People buy trail machines and try to drive them like a pure sport sxs then they wonder why they break: simple answer its breaking because you're an idiot
@@christopherlarter4386 In my case my RZR XP4 Turbo I use in mud, as on land, and I do not think at least for me it is a purchase option, I repeat for my NO, and I do not put myself as Polaris Fan, as my RZR buys it without no discount, or anything that looks like .... I continue with my RZR
Totalltly agree with you. I got over 550 miles on my RS1 so far and it has seen a LOT of track use and some trail and sand use. Its just the way you decide to drive them.
I've got a 15 xp 18 rs1 and a 19 turbo. when I first got the 15 I was blowing belts and breaking axles left and right. I soon learned it wasn't the machine it was my right foot. I've been on the roughest trails imaginable. a rzr don't break no more than the can ams do. we took a group of about 15 thru Pritchett canyon in Moab. the experienced drivers made it. the novices stayed broke. just how it is
Canuck Trail Rides 1000 xp Doesn’t have the heavy duty components you want the heavy duty components you get the turbo It has a gear to gear reverse XP 1000 has garbage transmission Also soon as you get it also need to change out the clutch Slides to rollers XP 1000 garbage at least get the turbo it has all the better components
You can buy a new 18 turbo rzr with more hp more travel and better suspension for the same or less. Only plus is the belt and the shifter that only works good in a straight line. An upgraded clutch will take care of the belt thing too. Soo...while it's getting there , I wouldn't say better...yet.
So agree, argue this all the time. 22k for this & 108 hp? Are you serious - can get a new RZR turbo @ Abernathy's any day for 16,500. then add 2k in parts that every machine will need - tires, suspension turning, still @ 18,500. 22k for a car with 28" tires, lacking suspension is a non starter IMO. I will say though they are learning fast & I would expect more out of them soon. The one thing that will keep them from being competitive is their higher cost structure vs. the RZR. I bet Polaris could make money selling the Turbo for 14k based on volume. Honda is big though, serious competition which is good for all of us!
Junk - This is the way a global company operates, no different than auto companies. The days of American made anything is behind us - I don’t particularly like it, but it’s life.
@@todda2026 The Talon is made in the USA. BTW - None of the major brands makes “junk”. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. But they are overall really good products, But you already knew that didn’t you?
I've never owned or operated a sxs but I'm considering buying one. I ride slow in the mountains and I'm thinking that the hold back on the hills, reliability and dual clutch fits me better. Anyone with any other thought between Talon x and rzr 1000 or Polaris General? I would also take it hunting, thoughts appreciated.
First time sxs buyer that chose to go with a Talon R in AK here...so far I am glad I didn’t let the width of the R deter me from choosing it in Regards to location. Sorry Canada🥴 Due to rain and work only have had 3 20min rips in it...low /mid end torque is great...the third time out I forgot about the paddles lol...tight unit...but you def hear it shift lol...like mechanically audible lol...so far I feel it’s a great choice for me to be introduced to sxs Rigs...kinda eye opening as to differences of perception and feel of “fast” “torque” “horsepower” ...can’t wait until I feel comfortable with how it is now...and then hopefully the elusive Turbo Kit will be available
Dude, thanks for making the video, but stop comparing the SxS with dirt bikes for the good Lord's love! I ride all sort of bikes and have a RZR, and does not make any sense comparing them. Not even ATV and SxS gives the same experience, or Sports bike and choppers.
Ok, Jay, I’ll give you one pass, and hope that you’ve satisfied that weird homosexual itch you got. One more side-by-side (or quad) video and I’m unsubscribing.
Ugliest side x side on the market. Can't even beat an xp1k in a race. Cant outjump it, can't out handle it. Tons of body roll. Bottoms out easily. Does have nice fit and finish. That's about it. Wait till the DCT's start burning up on the turbo models.
@duneyxjealousz although the YXZ is a wild machine, your opinion is worthless. your talon experience is limited to hours of you tube videos. buy one and get over it.
Doodle Bug Well the more we learn about the Talon...it appears to be a great unit. It was just my opinion. Don’t get triggered! This is a place where people share their thoughts.

Best overall non turbo for sure.

automotive torgue converters. Winning
It’s a dct no torque converter
Great Machines
All Talons are made in the USA 🇺🇸
And the rest are in China.

Big difference is price and DCT.
Reliability also

I did lots of research...That's why I bought a Talon.
I-Am Dougg can’t go wrong with anything Honda. Snowblowers, mowers, UTV, cars, SUV’s, they all outlast their competitors.
Honda Talon Better option than a Polaris RZR in the SXS UTV market ?
R = Definitely ......................NOT!
Best side by side is not rzr. Is can am x3
Learning more about that thing--
I would rather have three yz250's

It won’t break axles cause it makes no power compared to a rzr plus belt drive is the most efficient way to deliver power
Jackster2019 completely the opposite. Belts rob power wayyyyy more than double clutch
So 6 hp difference then the xp1000 that will allow it not to break stuff interesting.
You a damn fool obviously
