Wish everyone would watch this before showing up to play poker. Very good explanation of how to act or what to expect at the table. Good luck on your journey.
THIS is the video I’ve been looking for! You explained everything perfectly to make me feel comfortable sitting at a Vegas table. Been going for 4 years now and was always too nervous. Thank you so much. 36 days till I play for the first time in Vegas!!!
What a great manager to know! Josh did an amazing job. And Jeremy as always you make great content! Loved the video. I’ve been playing for many years and still found your video interesting and fun. 🎉
This is an outstanding video on casino poker table "etiquette." To a beginner, looking at the sea of poker tables and not knowing what to do can be very intimidating. Plus, you never want to look like a beginner at a poker table. :)
I will say, if you KNOW how to play poker, but you look like a fish cause you don't know casino etiquette and rules, that can be a benefit to you. People will call you a lot wider thinking you have no idea what you are doing. Learned that the hard way with a guy who sat down. He really was confused and didn't know how casino poker worked, but we all quickly realized he was GOOD at the game. Talked to him a bit and he was a VERY good online player. He made some silly mistakes, but when it came to the actual game, he was better than me.
Thank you so much guys for this much needed video I get overwhelmed when I go to a poker room at a casino for the first time now after watching this I will be better prepared and less nervous hats off to you guys👍🏿
I play poker on my phone and understand it for the most part, but am terrified to play at a real table(not really terrified, just a bit of exaggeration!!) Need to find a table of all beginners to play at! Thanks for these videos!
I was very nervous, but you can make it through. You can literally fold every hand if you are worried. Will just cost you a few dollars in blinds. Just get some time at table to get comfortable. You can do it!
Thank you man this tutorial is absolutely useful! All your questions asked were right on point lol, exactly the same as what I was wondering as a beginner who never step my foot into the casino. Now I am much more confident and looking forwards to my first poker game
Great video, a lot of great information for new players. Would have liked to have seen information on stacking chips (i.e. high denomination chips up front) and missed blinds.
I started watching your dice videos about over a year ago and I love that content but my true game is Texas hold ‘em. I’m over the moon to see your journey as a starting poker player. I hope to see you talk with some poker coaches and discuss GTO poker as well. I’m excited for you! GLHF!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Always remember the most important rule, you can try to learn and understand the game as much as possible but nothing is more effective than the actual experience to learn the culture of poker. As a new player, you will be nervous, and you won’t know all the tidbits- you will forget most of these answers while under pressure when playing. It will take time to adjust, I essentially did cold turkey when I turned 21, had never even played poker before, I went to my local casino, and checked the poker hand rank 2 min before I was seated. Did not understand what big or small blinds were, was still unsure of wether trips beats 2 pair or not (forget things like counterfeit, double gutter, wether 5-A straight was better of worse than 6-5 straight etc). You will learn all these things in the room. But it will take time. I’d say for me, without any knowledge of the game, it took maybe 50 hours to be the “average” comfortable poker player.
The dealer will always take the rake from the pot and then push the remainder to the winner. In most venues, chips in play on the table can be used for drinks, food, tipping staff, etc. BUT you may NEVER remove chips that are in play from your stack to take them out of play. They must remain on the table. Removing them is called "going south" and will usually result in arguments, the floor being called and sometimes even bans.
20:40 How I like to explain this is that the 1st raise has to be double the 1st bet. Then any re-raise after has to be atleast the amount the raise was more than the 1st bet. So $10 bet, $25 raise, re-raise at minimum would have to be $40. 40 is 15 more than 25, and 25 was 15 more than the 1st bet. Maybe my way of thinking is dumb, but it works for me lol.
@@asastevens4694 I assume for new players they'd let me know, right? It might take a few hands. The sad thing is I'm really, really good at Hold'em, but having played with friends we never used blinds, just ante, and online it's automatic.
If its only been 10 or 20 seconds and you look a bit aloof, the dealer or another player might signal toward you to make sure you know its your turn. After a minute or two, someone might "call the clock" on you. You are then given 1 more minute to decide. It is often against casino rules to talk about yours or others current hand so I would avoid it until you confirm their policy.
Totally new players, home game players, online players, all sometimes have trouble at a casino or club. I'd particularly reference avoiding string bets. That announces to the world you're a beginner. I would also suggest sliding cards when you fold and never ever lift them off the table. You sort of pantomimed folding by somewhat lifting and tossing. Way too many things can go wrong. Just slide.
Not at the poker table. Casino's have a specific place for this called the "cage area" or the "cashier". There are chip trays available for those that need them.

Good breakdown for those just joining the game! As far as leaving the table goes, my own personal preference is I like to leave after I play my blinds - courtesy to the folks at the table, and whomever is coming in. And for tipping, I usually am a heavy tipper (dealers can go through tough days - they deal with more BS than most), and I usually wind up giving over my singles before I cash out.
I was playing $4-8 at Wild Horse Pass a few yrs ago and they splashed $200 on the table for the next hand. (There was some kind of promotion). Anyway, I get the AK of hearts and a flop the nut flush. There's no pairs so there's no full houses. I know I have the winning hand. Everybody is betting & raising at $8-16-24 etc. Finally there's $1K and I win. I get one thousand white $1 chips. I can't stack them. They won't color up the chips. They wont give me racks at the table. My only option was to get racks and leave. I felt bad b/c I wanted to put the money back in play. But, fk them , I woke up the next day UP+ $1K
@@pctotty They wanted me to stack 1,000 chips in neat little stacks, like 20 stacks of 50 chips, it was impossible. One of my friends at the table came over and was helping me stack the chips, but the dealer wanted to continue, I was holding up the game , like I said they wouldn't color me up , so fk them, I left
MAN was this helpful. I’ve always been too scared to approach the table foe fear of looking like a moron. THANK YOUYOU!
Glad it was helpful

These were all questions I had, I figured new players should know. Thanks for watching, and wishing me luck!

Thanks, as a veteran I’m glad it still had some entertainment value for you. Appreciate the feedback, and welcome any tips for poker.

Very informative!! When I saw it was a 40 minute video, I thought OOF, but I enjoyed watching to the end!!
Josh breaks everything down pretty solidly.
Helped me understand for sure
Killer vid for newbies! Love all the questions I didn't know I had!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Its a lot of detail, but it certainly helped me
very helpful... always good to review the basics and table etiquette👍😎👍
Who doesn’t love the typical movie string bet line at the poker table? “I see your bet…and I raise you!!” 😂
I just started watching UA-cam poker and this video answered so many questions that I had 😂 thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Great video, super helpful and really good insight into etiquette - thank you!!
thanks for watching
This was the best poker video I’ve watched. I have some family who is trying to to learn and this is the perfect video.
Watching pros play teaching almost nothing. Like learning a new language from a guy who speaks in slang.
This taught me a boatload. I thank you!
glad to hear
Thank you so much I’ve played online and never live. I feel way more comfortable to approach a live action table now.
Alot of information to learn than playing online, good vid 💯 ☝️❤👊.

Ah, good topics to cover in another vid
I am liking and subscribing. This answered my questions I didn't know I had.
I’ve been searching for this kind of video for ages. Thank you for making me prepared
I made it because i couldn't find anything like it on youtube.
Thanks for this information. I've been wanting to play, but get nervous about the procedures.

I'll add to my list, thanks

I've never sat at a live table, the biggest thing that worries me is knowing when to pay the blinds. Is there some sort of marker for that?
Dealer button gets passed around. Player directly to the left is small blind player directly left of small blind is big blind

I don’t gamble much, haven’t even played with chips before and the sounds are low-key ASMR

Awesome, learned a lot
Great video!!! How much time would I have to think about my hand? Also, could I think outloud trying to read what other player(s) have?

When you leave the table , you take the chips on your hands or the dealer change it for dollars before you leave ?
Entry Fee, Rake, any other fees associated with playing would be good information.

Thanks for this! I too am looking for something other than craps.
Join the journey with me :)
@@coloruppoker I'll meet you at the final table in 900 days.
Does the dealer color you up when you leave the table, or do you have a rack to bring your chips to the cage?
Looks like everyone grabs a rack and takes chips to poker desk, or cage to cash out.
QUESTION: If I decide to use My right to ask my opponent to see his losing cards when he fold..can he refuse and say NO,or show just One card instead?
Good knowledge
Glad you liked
