    I never have to worry about running out to the rods tangled up in a sleeping bag, I mastered the angry caterpillar many years ago

    Would love to see you guys do an honest review of the Pallatrax Gripz and Stonez #teampallatrax

      @@carpologytv Thanks for the reply, I've just watched that video and what a session it was. It's a shame you barely gave 30 seconds to the stonez, or really mentioned the environmental benefits. A proper review of the pallatrax products would be nice 🎣🎣🎣🎣

      @@iangodwin5282 They're ok for short range where aerodynamics aren't critical but the lack of density really hurts them at long range, aside from that difference it's just a weight. The environmental benefits are a bit overstated, lead doesn't really break down in lakes unless they are too acidic to actually support fish life, a coated lead would take about 10000 years to dissolve in a mildly acidic (pH 5.5-6.5) lake or substrate. In running water where the leads can get bumped around by strong currents and abraded by rocks/gravel the breakdown is faster but coatings do an awful lot to prevent this process occuring. Lead shot is a different matter altogether because water birds ingest them when looking for gizzard stones to aid digestion and when subjected to stomach acid the lead is dissolved and absorbed by the bird which can lead to severe problems and usually death.

      @@DjDolHaus86 thanks for your reply, but I'd suggest you're not quite correct on both counts, the stonez are very capable of being used at long range, many members of the pallatrax team have verified this, its a mystery where this idea came from that they don't cast well! On the second point in this era of dropping leads all the time the amount of lead being left in lakes can be harmful, I believe a few European countries are banning them or considering banning them, Hungary for a suggestion where the video mentioned was filmed, Carpinsula. 🎣🎣🎣

      @DjDolHaus86 2 роки тому

      @@iangodwin5282 It's not a mystery where the idea came from, it's just air resistance, if you've got two projectiles of equal weight and one is much larger than the other it simply won't go as far when the same amount of force is applied to it. If the shape of the projectile isn't aerodynamically stable then it also won't be as predictable in flight. Whether these percentages of distance and accuracy matter you as an angler is entirely up to you.
      Talk of banning lead products from fishing has been ongoing since at least the 70s in many countries. I'm obviously not saying that it's a non issue because lead oxides are soluble under the right conditions but the actual harm caused by fishing leads (as opposed to natural lead sources and dumping in the form of actual lead and lead based products) is as yet unproven and fishing is getting bundled in with a larger, underlying problem caused by commercial pollution. I spent many years gaining qualifications in freshwater ecology and working on water quality testing for both the EA and private companies, I'm yet to see any water quality problems that were caused by elevated quantities of dissolved lead caused by fishing activities. While I've got nothing against Pallatrax I do think they toot the high and mighty horn a bit loud, business is business and they're trying to carve out their niche which is fair enough.

      @@DjDolHaus86 thanks for your input, many people with much more experience and expertise than me will argue over the safety of using lead weights, personally I think the right option is to err on the side of caution and find a different option.
      The percentage difference while casting the stonez has been exaggerated in my mind. I have seen and been able to cast just as well and as far with a stonez as with a lead.
      Whatever your thoughts on pallatrax my original comment was asking the guys to do an honest review of their products on offer, and maybe more than a brief 30 second mention in passing on a half hour video, is that too much for a subscriber of the channel to ask when the channel is all about reviewing fishing gear?

    Why do these companies keep making bags with fleece linings. Horrible material to have inside of a sleeping bag
