Thank you so much! I love not having to take the time to add glue. I can also walk away at any point and the tape will still be sticky when I get back. Another plus: no glue squeezing between the boards and blocking stain.

This is so cool!! My sister and I have done the second method you demonstrated and to add a bit more "character" we made indentations representing nail heads. We have also made deeper marks that kind of look like knots and other imperfections in the wood. When she and I began doing mini's 25+ years ago there was very little choice available for so many things. And if you could find what you were looking for it was so expensive that buying it wasn't an option so making what we needed became the norm. One of the reasons I enjoy your channel is because you make everything you possibly can by hand. Thank you for creating, showing, and sharing your creative spark!!
That's such a cool idea! You could definitely create a lot of character by doing that. For people with a Cricut Maker and a debossing tool, the machine could do all the work for you. I have a Cricut Maker but I rarely use it bc I hate taking the time to deal with technology.
@@queencityminis I have thought about maybe purchasing a Cricut but I just can't justify the cost for what I would be using it for. I am enjoying your channel...great ideas... And that you explain the different process used....I'm going to try this ...I am presently trying to make 3 doll houses for my 3 granddaughters... I am learning everything on UA-cam
They both look great. I think it engraved lines one looks a little more like the linoleum you get that looks like wood paneling. Where as the first looks like it IS wood paneling
That's true. I don't have a dollhouse set up but I think the engraved floors would look very convincing with baseboard trim and furniture and rugs etc.
I love this! I have just taken on three doll house, renovations, and this will be a game changer. I’m thinking I could use it as backsplash even… Possibly make the look of subway tiles or shiplap. Can I ask what the water-based polyurethane brand is?
This. Is. Awesome. Now I think I have to rip up my Lowes paint stir stick floor and do this instead in my book nook to roombox conversion. I love the finish, especially the polyurethane. Which did you use? Is it a satin finish? It has a very nice non-glossy look. I will get on this as soon as I finish the quilts I suddenly decided to make last week despite having never made quilts before. Yay adhd! Ps I just realized I could use the embossing (debossing?) tool on my Cricut to do the second method. 🎉
YES! You could absolutely use the debossing tool on your Cricut to engrave the floors. I was thinking about that this morning. I used Satin Polycrylic. I don't like high gloss finishes on wood. I think it looks more realistic with a lower sheen and photographs better.
I'm not sure what it is. It's a tool I got in a box of random art supplies secondhand. Someone gave it to me. A pen that has run out of ink would work really well
I have just come across your channel. So inspired by your makes. I’m a self taught crafter and I have done up a few dolls houses for friends. Easy is right! Love it. You said you would pre-paint the canvas board if you did it again, what colour would you recommend? A black, brown, or something else?
Yeah, I'm thinking black or brown. A dark color showing between the cracks makes a lot more sense than white. I had to take extra time to cover the white on mine.
amzn.to/3Ziqr6y It's called Amazing Mold putty. I get it from Amazon. They seem to be out so this stuff will work well, too. There are lots of options for mold putty.
have you ever made marble flooring? I have an idea id like to try once I finish moving(warning its gonna be weird and require alot of marble and crystal
I do have plans to make a tile video once I get a bit more time. In the meantime, you can check out this video from Little Structures. ua-cam.com/video/8Z3PByhwM2I/v-deo.html
What is the name of the glue you used for dust covers? You stated you just touch the corner and it runs down the seam. I have looked online at all my hobby stores just trying to find it by what the jar looked like. Can’t seem to find it. I really need that glue…LOL
Ii did a kit. Dream dollhouse. A few years ago and tape wire electric. Then stuck there wallpaper onto cardstock with double sided tape. The wallpaper is falling off nowadays. As the double sided tape has dried up
That stinks! Regular tape doesn't have much staying power. That's why I use flooring tape. It's meant to permanently install full-size flooring that's being walked on for decades. It's more than strong enough to hold miniature flooring.
I have some interesting reoccurring items random things I think I can make some cool mini stuff with. I would love to send you a few of each of these things to see what you make with them. Would you like to take the challenge?

It's called Amazing Mold putty. I get it from Amazon. They seem to be out so this stuff will work well, too. There are lots of options for mold putty.
@@queencityminis thanks! I need to make a mold of the corner of a decor piece my husband broke by accident.
have you ever made marble flooring? I have an idea id like to try once I finish moving(warning its gonna be weird and require alot of marble and crystal
I haven't. From real marble? That sounds fancy!
@@queencityminis I meant made fake stuff. like for tiles and such
I do have plans to make a tile video once I get a bit more time. In the meantime, you can check out this video from Little Structures. ua-cam.com/video/8Z3PByhwM2I/v-deo.html
@@queencityminis thank you so much.
Cool method
Thank you :)
What is the name of the glue you used for dust covers? You stated you just touch the corner and it runs down the seam. I have looked online at all my hobby stores just trying to find it by what the jar looked like. Can’t seem to find it. I really need that glue…LOL
Is this question intended for me? I don't know what you mean. Sorry!
I thought it was you. Maybe on A. Bentley site. Sorry. 🙃
What double sided tape do you use?
I use double-sided flooring tape from the hardware store. It's meant to permanently install carpet and sheet vinyl flooring.
1000 :)
I have some interesting reoccurring items random things I think I can make some cool mini stuff with. I would love to send you a few of each of these things to see what you make with them. Would you like to take the challenge?
That sounds fun! I'm planning to get a po box so people can send me things. I'll add it to my bio when I do.
@@queencityminis awesome!
I sometimes make card backgrounds from strips of cardstock, so i should've been able to figure this out. But no.😂
😆 We all have, "Why didn't I think of that?" moments.
@@queencityminis Absolutely! 😂
