WHEN Carlie McMaster, 28, from Ontario, Canada took a DNA test, it was to find out some more about her medical history. But when Rylee Hall, 26, from Minnesota, USA, got in touch after also taking a test, the women found out they were in fact…sisters. It transpired that both Carlie and Rylee were conceived by sperm donation. After messaging back and forth, the sisters finally got to meet in person last year. They decided to start a podcast called ‘Our Daddy’s A Donor’ to create a space for donor-conceived stories. Rylee said: “Going forward I really hope we can hang out more and keep our relationship going strong like it is.” After a lot of research, Carlie and Rylee found their biological father and today, they’re going to meet him for the first time... How will they feel?!

I think it's a lot tougher to keep it a secret it's better to be honest as soon as possible.
My boys have known they were donor babies since they were tiny. At 10 & 12, they just now think they might want to meet their donor, who is open to it. I never wanted to hide who they were, or the great gift that allowed me to have them. I have never hidden who the donor was, have pics for them and keep in touch with their older half siblings. I feel for the girl who never knew, what a gut punch, but I know why her parents did what they did.
You are smart to be honest with them,that would freak a person out if they found out later in life.

Everybody in this documentary has my thumbs up. To me, the biological father was the one that delivered this miracle. His noble action brought the joy of life to a family that could not conceive. The joy and the hardship of bringing up a child could not and would not have been realistic without the biological father gift and selflessness.
Props to the brown haired one because i could never forgive my parents for keeping something like this a secret from me
You can still be angry and hurt but decide to maintain a relationship with your parents even after discovering such a big lie. She has had a few years to process the shock and anger.
These secrets these mother’s keep from their children haunt them for life. Don’t hold the truth back from your children, it’ll cause way more harm.
This is amazing! I'm having a baby with a donor too, if everything goes well. He/she will know that he/she has been conceived with the help of a donor, but I am just so happy that these type of things are so common nowadays.

I'm not being critical or judgmental, but I felt a little sad for these lovely young women when I realized how underwhelmed & seemingly unemotional their bio Father was at meeting them...I expected him to be a bit warmer & more interested in getting to know them & learning about their lives & interests...I imagine it was somewhat more awkward for him in the beginning...Anyway, I hope they'll eventually have an enduring friendship & a sense of a special "connection" among them...
He's not technically their father. He's not obligated to get to know them, he's just a sperm donor. He owes these girls nothing. That was the deal
Grant may look uninterested in the video but what they didn’t say in the video was that Carlie and I had been messaging and FaceTiming with Grant for months prior to our in person visit

Imagine being filmed for such an important event in your life, especially when it looks like his life was pretty private or small. I think he did well! ❤
II think he did a great effort in accommodating his two, newly found treasures and bringing them into his emotional world. He strikes as being a very tactful man of great finesse.

I don't think she did. She seemed really uncomfortable at that part of the video. Plus, she is on camera. Most people don't want to act a fool on camera.
@@Sweetyhide you right...she did look uncomfortable. But her podcast would be off the roof...it she kept it 💯. People want authenticity. This happened to my aunt ...aka..my mom bedt friend, but she was adopted. She found out she was adopted in her late 40s; again her mother was gonna take it to the grave. Let me just say that she went missing for 3 weeks , left kids, husband and would only talk to my mother her best friend. People gotta know where they come from. She questioned her skin color, eyes, build, everything and they always had a story from what my mom told me. People know.....why else you do a test...it's somatic.

I took a DNA test but I didn't think I was adopted. I did it to find my heritage. My family always said there was Indian blood in our family.

Well just imagine you are like 60 years old and two strangers say hi we’re your daughters lol😁 You wont be able to feel like a mom or anything. As a matter of fact, it will give a more “strange” vibe than emotional one. I think he explained it pretty well, he said he has genetic ties with them and not a parenting role. The fact that he was open and welcoming towards them in the first place was far than enough.
@@Yasi_nzi My reading from the pictures is that he must have prepared his emotions too. He is, obviously, a highly intelligent man. I found him there, as a very warm person. I am sure that in the same circumstances i would be a wreck. He handled the whole air time brilliantly.

We definitely see him as more of an Uncle than a father figure. I had a father and a step father - there isn’t a void that needed filling. It is like finding lost family but we definitely don’t have a father/daughter connection in the traditional sense!
