Wow….just, wow. I wish my Dad was alive to watch these videos. He was a master carpenter and spend a lot of time with his lathe. I’m totally blown away by the time and effort gone into this gorgeous piece of art, so so beautiful.
I was hooked from start to finish. Couldn’t envisage how this was going to work out. Looks awesome. The colour combinations just work and the final piece is so impressive. A true piece of art!
Absolutely true. As a painter myself, I can say that there is a lot of flat out garbage in a lot of modern art museums. Good stuff too but some of it is just a joke.
I just find your work fascinating to watch, like reading a book you can't put down. Both your skill and the right tools, combine to make beautiful works of art, and have answered many of questions of 'how the hell?'. Thank you!!
This turned bowl is gorgeous and incredible. It's amazing how you made it. What Molly Weinstien said is true. Your art works belong in galleries or museums. People need to see your extraordinary creativity. Thank you.
They say it is not the destination that is important, but the journey…but if your prep and lathe, and finishing work are the ‘ journey’ and the bowl is your ‘destination’, then both are as significant as each other. A work of art! I hope you got a good price for it.
Normally I'm not a huge fan of a contrasting foot, but with this piece it anchors the rainbow so that it floats instead of being chaotic. I really like that. You could probably do one with an Ebony foot quite effectively, too.
Fantastic work Jack! I was alive in the 1960's and 70's and loved designs like this. I miss those days. This brought back some beautiful memories. Thanks for another wonderful ride.
The optical illusions that occur as a result of putting small amounts of drag on the lathe when carving, the inside especially, are incredible. For a moment I saw it flicker from one stationary image to a completely different stationary image, all while in motion. It's like a rim on a fast moving car times a thousand.
It takes an enormous amount of patience - and time, and foresight, and talent - to see what and how this would come about! I am in awe of your beautiful accomplishment!
Pinocchio did not appear out of nowhere; he was carved from a special wood by the talented and art loving Geppetto. And that’s who Jack Mack is -- a modern Geppetto who’s searching for his soulmate. As the manufacturer of the material used in this video, we could not be more amazed and proud with the final results... way to go Jack, you did it again! And lastly, not to take anything away from Jack’s professional craftsmanship, for everyone out there watching this and thinking, I could probably replicate this but got spooked by the circles cutting and build back time consuming part, just a suggestion, all that can be easily carved on a CNC and also customized for different desired bowl shapes. Happy turning!
I love watching Damascus blades being made and this had a similar feel, with all the layers. Watching it spin for a while I think would create a hypnotic effect. Beautiful piece as usual. Thanks
Heck, I even loved the sawdust :) I like how all we have to do is sit back and just enjoy the ride with you, Jack. You know it's gonna be amazing and a thing of beauty when it is over. Thank you for sharing your love of wood :)
I was thinking about the saw dust being used to fill homemade pincushions. My Dad was a woodworker up into his 90’s, and kept a box under his table saw to catch sawdust. During the summer before he passed(2017), I asked Dad for some of the sawdust to fill homemade pincushions. He said to take as much as I wanted. I ended up with 4 or 5 gallon-size ziplock bags. I want to made pincushions for the women in our family filled with sawdust from Dad’s/Grampa’s/GreatGrampa’s workshop.
I am from a family of carpenters the whole journey of this piece of art transformed me in my childhood when I saw my dad and uncles making piece of arts as well as other equipments for routine life Beautiful indeed beautiful 💐💐
that sawdust would be fun in some resin! it's so pretty

Hello my friend, Unless you try what's new, you can't learn anything new. And you are always trying to teach innovations. And you always produce innovative works and ideas. Thank you for sharing. See you. Big greetings.
Your ideas and creativity are on another level. It blows my mind how you can start with something like that and created such a phenomenal product. Keep up the great work!
Glue..... from the original coloered plywood. To the final wood base. It was all about the glue. You've got to be one of the best "gluer upper" I've ever seen. I still had to fast forward through some of the boring parts. Glue is fascinating!!
I'd like to put the saw dust & shavings in my flower beds, it's so pretty. I'm fascinated watching the process. The result is incredible! Thanks for sharing.
I don't think I've seen anyone make as perfect a cut on a bandsaw as you did with those arcs. Damn, that was satisfying to watch.
Thanks buddy. I spend a great deal of my working day cutting on the bandsaw and have done for 20 years. It’s all about practice 👍🏻

Lot of prep work just to get to the lathe. I appreciate your patience...
