    I bought my 3.5v6tt GV70 sport with luxury pack last week. Matte white with red nappa interior. I’ve owned Audis, BMW’s and the Genesis is absolutely on another level. Turns heads everywhere, love it.

    Excellent comparison Tom.
    For me the “whole of life” ownership costs would favour the Genesis.The Hyundai group has an excellent customer service record with a very good warranty and complementary free servicing. While the Volkswagen group customer service has been somewhat indifferent recently and having to negotiate for an extended warranty period and servicing in a luxury vehicle just doesn’t cut it anymore.

    Hey Tom, great video as always! But I do have to point out the there was a fair bit of bias toward the Audi. The Genisis is also a great SUV but the majority of the review centred on the Audi. It also seemed like the Aldi was getting a bit too much positive feedback when the SUVs are so similar. The Aldi looks dated on the inside and out and the Genisis looks sleek, modern and stylish, I feel a less bias comparison would be beneficial.
    Now this is the first time I've had a negative reaction to one of your reviews so a I'd hate to think you'd take this feedback the wrong way. Keep up the good work make and I look forward to many more great videos 😎

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  3 роки тому +4

      I think it’s important not to confuse an effort to clearly justify why one vehicle is superior for ‘bias’. Bias means an unfair preference for one over another. I have no connection with Audi and no reason to prefer a base diesel Q5 over a diesel GV70. Just not my sort of cars at all. The reason perhaps 55% of the footage was centred on the Q5 was because it’s important to carefully lay out the facts about why it does the midsize luxury SUV thing so well - so that it is crystal clear where the GV70 needs further refinement in future. ‘Bias’ doesn’t mean one vehicle won. It means it won unfairly. Which, in this case, simply did not happen.

    Hi Tom. You say the Genesis has been taking notes on the premium end of luxury SUV’s and matches them very closely. Yes, it may be a new entry into the market, but I think they have a very strong product, especially with their great warranty. Over the years they will also make improvements most likely in less weight and better fuel economy. It’s certainly a great looking car and I always think the Audi is becoming a little dated. I always think of an Audi as a Volkswagen, albeit a very premium car. I’d have either before a BMW but probably lean towards the Genesis on style. The driving characteristics of both are very similar and not so noticeable for the average buyer. Great comparison Tom. I enjoy your tests.

    As good as the Audi is, don't forget that there are options packs that will easily push the price north of $100k. The Genisis is a fully loaded vehicle & the Audi can't really match what the Genisis has as standard . On the Genisis, The free 5 yr servicing will attract buyers as will the 5yr warranty , & though Audi's servicing costs are reasonable , its 3 yr warranty isn't. The Nappa leather in the Genisis is excellent, whereas Audi uses a Leatherette . Full leather is part of an options pack for the Q5. The Audi wins definitely on fuel efficiency , but the Korean wins on being fully loaded, a better warranty, free servicing & that Nappa Leather & a more attractive interior . Though the Audi sells in bigger numbers, the Genisis is a more unique, vehicle, & one that should be on any prospective buyers shopping list, particularly in diesel.

The GV70 is so much ahead of the Q5 in terms of its looks both inside and out Yet Genesis hasn't even done 4 digits in sales so far in 2022 and that's a big alarm bell for a car worth over 80K. Why am I not surprised that yet again you pick a VAG car over the competition.
    You seem to downplay the Q5’s deficiencies and amplify the Genesis’s.
    Its plain to see the Audi looks old and boring both interior and exterior, and that’s because its old. (It has Audi’s old interior, long phased out of the A6, Q7, A3 etc.)
    I have yet to drive the Genesis, so I will take your word that it doesn’t drive well, but it does look great, well specced, has an amazing warranty.
    I guess I should just follow your reviews that don’t compare cars to VAG, cause they arr very informative.
    Cheers

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  3 роки тому +8

      “Yet again”? The GV80 won over the Touareg in our recent comparison, so you’ve just made that up. Not everything is a conspiracy: the reasons the Q5 is easier to live with (superior ride quality, superior ergonomics, agility, pace, lower fuel consumption) were clearly stated, and the GV70 was given a fair showing. You don’t have to accept the results, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong, and it especially does not mean they’re biased, as you strongly imply without basis.

    Firstly, I have to say that Diesel is not an option for me as I suffer from acute asthma; secondly that my aim is towards the higher spectrum. That said, I'm still conflicted between the SQ5 (which is out due to my condition), the GLC 43 AMG (yes, I'm aware of their poor service and durability record), the X3-M40i, the Porsche Macan S or GTS (I find a little too small in the back), the F-Pace P400 and the GV70 3.5T.. I still have half a year to decide tho, even though my heart tends towards Genesis. Yes the Q5 is the typical Germanic and a bit bland, but functional. It does exactly what its made for and really nothing more. A saying my grandmother and mother always used was "Lo Borato sale caro," roughly meaning the cheap comes out expensive (in the long run). The Genesis is great looking, but I don't think I would ever be able to pass up on the fact it's a Hyundai underneath. Just like what Toyota did 3 decades ago and brought out Lexus. Amazingly built and extremely reliable, yet quite bland/ Even with the "surface" of the Genesis being quite great, it will always be a Hyundai with a lot of leather and soft, squishy materials. I would happily pay more for a Q5 (SQ5 would be my choice) for a great way from A to B.
