Navy Recognition takes you on a detailed tour aboard aboard one of the newest and most capable platforms in the U.S. Navy fleet right now: The Mk VI Patrol Boat. - Наука та технологія
The video is showcasing a vessel built for war, but the soundtrack thinks it's showing Coachella highlights
War's a business I guess...
lmfao
Lol
That's the free music selection for youtube videos. I thought it was the intro for how to beat the claw machine at an arcade, or how to tint your car windows. Or how to fit 400 50 cals on your patrol boat.
😂😂😂
There u go!.......That's what we have needed on the Somalia coast to deal with pirates.......A modern version of the WW2 P,T. Boat.......Good Show Navy..
tHE pT boat would've been nice if they kept it for a longer time, although it needs upgrade, which is kinda this boat.
More like a PBR from Vietnam I would say. Probably very good on rivers too.
So it might be the New McCale's Navy????
Yea or the new "Apocalypse now" set on the Euphrates river......
...PBRs upgrades ..
Running one of these boats would be the best job in the Navy! Awesome craft!
@BRAVOZULU DWEST boathouse Not sure what your going on about. If its the even that happened a few years back where a US ship VIOLATED Iranian waters and the crew was DETAINED for it. I don't see how that has anything what so ever to do with Obama. Like I said the US ship violated Iranian water, the US vessel was stopped and detained by the Iranian Navy. ONCE both sides concluded it was a simple navigation mistake and there was no malicious intent on either side the America crew and vessel were released. They didn't "surrender" And Obama had absolutely NOTHING to do with the situation. Are you seriously so cognitively deficient you think a Cpt. of a PT boat just has the commander in chiefs personal phone number and just calls him up saying "Hey theres some Iranians following us....what do?" Obama did NOT give them their orders. Its standard practice to just comply and try to deescalate the situation instead of being a dumb fucking arrogant american and potentially causing an International Crisis. And make no mistake of it I'am by NO stretch of the imagination a supporter of Obama or the Democratic party but Idiots like you just make anyone who doesn't like Obama sound/look like a dumb fucking inbreed trailer trash hick.

Great presentation Lt. Bue, it sure is a nice vessel. What is nicer is knowing we have great men like Lt. Bue serving our Navy. Thank you for your service Lt. Bue, God Bless you and God Bless the US.
So, really it's an armoured yacht with a lotta guns
AND jets
I like YOUR description. :-)
@Stealthy Raccoon PT Boats aren't really designed with firepower in mind, they could fight another PT boat, or a kayak, but not much else. Really their main purpose would be recon and checking small boats for smugglers.
@Stealthy Raccoon Four .50 Cal Machine Guns on manual mounts, A 30mm gun? forward and 2 more remote .50 cals. Good enough to take on Pirates and the Iranian Navy.

Who the hell chose this music to go with video tour of the coolest combat yacht ever?!? Somebody call Hans Zimmer!

What an updated version of the old PT boats, I like it.
Thank you for the tour of your boat. Happy to see the modern high tech that goes to sea. I served during Vietnam and the US Navy was still using WWII ships and technology.
These things are so badass. Looks real good and armed heavily. I love seeing these things on my way to work. They don't look big at all. Tons of space in there tho
Tons of space to show to the cameras, filled to the max when its' time to get busy.
Awesome and Beautiful..
Good to know our weapons on seas.. Thank you all for your services with the Navy..!
Sweet boat. We been needing a sweet boat like this for a long time.
Sure beats the heck out of the 27' Boston Whalers we had in Bahrain in the 90's. 4 crew, Boat Captain, Bow and Stern Hook and Coxswain. Vigilant 901. I still miss my friends. My Boat Captain? BM3 Jennifer Merritt.
Thank you for a great video! And thank you for your comments about paper charts (around 2:20). I have great sophisticated electronics on my boat, but I still carry paper charts (and nav-tools) for everywhere I will be in the boat. All electronics can fail; paper charts and a basic compass will not. (A wise contributor to ClassicParker boating website is fond of saying, Everything on your boat is broken, you just don't know it, yet"...)
2:25 I get the feeling from his tone of voice that he has a particular feeling about paper charts, lol
I bet he can say just how much each one cost.
When all else fails, paper charts will still work.
Technology is here that will knock out or misdirect all electronics, with the old paper charts he can still carry out the mission and return.
Iran fooled our GPS systems and ended up taking a crew prisoner for a little but not too long ago. Reliance on electronics causes that.
@@Owlberightback uh no they had mechanical problems and drifted into Iranian waters before friendlies could get to them
It’s good to hear from someone with actual tactical experience! Definitely needed this platform to protect against unconventional, non-state aggressors. Excellent!
Ironically they're already getting rid of them...
Man! If I were young this would be a job I’d deffinitly want to go for! Exciting And adventurous!
Best job on the planet is the Coxswain driver who is in complete control of a fascinating machine. A 75 meter sports car, on the water.

This guy has a super mario mustache. It's perfect
That is, BY FAR, the coolest vessel I have ever seen!! Top of my shopping list if my Powerball numbers ever get drawn....
Very nice. I had no idea we had these. Couple of mean looking guns aboard too. And an awesome bridge deck.
When I retired from active duty my last command was with the riverines. They were just beginning to plan and request funding for this platform. I'd like to take a trip out with them to see how they compared to the boats we had in Riverine Squadron One.
Really cool video!

Go Navy! Thank you for sharing!
What an amazing job. To be part of that boat team must be amazing.
The MK38 gun is unreal, check out the videos about it and how accurate it is in even heavy seas, incredible gun.
That nursery music makes this production a challenger for top music video of the year.
What a high tech gun boat, fully automation and remote. With the 1981 25 mm chain guns, it has some fire power. But to my great surprise, there are two .50 caliber MG originated from the 1911 Browning M2. I am glad my favor heavy MG is still in service.
As a Cavalry and Infantry grunt, I couldn't have ever handled life as a squid on a ship, I would have lost my damn mind and eaten the paint off the walls. But man, I would have handed in the magic socket driver to my Bradley to be a coxswain (lol, I just wanted to say it) on a Navy Mk 6 or Puddle Pirate MLB in a heartbeat. A Brown Water, Small Craft career would have been very appealing.
And while I'm on the subject, and in complete contravention to normal intra-service rivalry SOP in the joint environment, much love to the Coasties and Sailors who patrolled the Tigris and Euphrates next to us in OIF. You guys shoot bad guys good.

The most important piece of equipment on that tug would be a George Foreman grill.
I would not be surprised if they had one, even if they had to buy it. You would eventually get bored of microwave dinners lol.
More shots of it skimming across the water would have been nice!
Idk why I always just figured patrol boats stayed the same as we had them on WW2, I never expected these things to look like the new shops the Navy is getting. They look very cool.
This project looks like a great 'potential' success! Great job Navy!
Eventually failed.
Some inspirations from the Strb 90 I see :)
The Navy uses DOZENS of STRB 90's so I'm sure you're right. It was a pair of River Command Boats (what the US calls the STRB 90) that the Iranians took into custody after one suffered an engine failure and drifted into Iranian waters.
this is what the US Coast Guard needs for drug interdiction, etc
Do you really believe that's their priority?
@@TheBluesnbob It is one-third of their mission.
I'm sure they'll receive them soon enough when these boats become "surplus," and "obsolete."
Not fast enough for drug interdiction
Lubecer 74 really ? I did drug interdiction on a ship a lot slower than that. Not all drug boats do 40+ knots. We sank a ship capable of doing a max of 15 knots carrying several tons of coke. Just saying
A civilian version of this would be so cool, perfect room for fishing of the decks and plenty of room inside for living at sea.

Need at least 2 MK 19 auto grenade launchers(prefer 4) to go with those .50's. Of course the MK19's would have HE as well as AP and anti personnel rounds. I would also consider having some side mounted torpedo tubes for large targets.
Damn Navy i see yall with yall high tech boats! Looking good!
Very nicely equipped nice boat!
I was a Boat Captain and Patrol Officer on River Patrol Boats (PBR) One B-40 (RPG-7) hit in the forward Deck House, with five stations grouped together would be a Bad Day.
You have my most sincere respect for doing a tough job in hard circumstances. I thought the B-40 was a copy of the RPG-2 though? Nevertheless, you've made a good observation there, and to make it worse, it seems that the powerplant is right beneath the forward Deck House, so any hit in that area could leave the boat sitting dead in the water either way. It looks like the designers may have made the mistake of clustering too many vital systems and personnel in the same space, but hopefully that's also where they put the armor protection.
Lol, the first time on UA-cam someone told me "Good morning sir!"
Yeah. Usually it's, "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Wish they had these when I was in the Navy 😉 These look fun!
Absolutely beautiful evolutionary design of perfection
The John Moses Browning M2 is what, over 100 years old? Still the best.
Walter 86 years
Not the best, but to good to replace.
@Thot PaTroll there are a few that I could name that out perform the legendary and amazomg Ma Deuce. However I will only name one as I am quite sleepy and my mind isn't really awake. The GAU 19/b a tripple barrel 50. Cal hmg. It carries more ammo, it fires twice as fast, and wighs a quarter less.
@@A_literal_cat_that That would make good sense for a remotely operated weapon station on a vessel like this which can obviously provide the required electric power and ammunition supply. I wonder if with the right targeting systems on such a mount the GAU-19B could be used as a sort of CWIS against drones and maybe even subsonic missiles?
@Joshua N. Ajang Probably not if you think about it, gas ports to maintain the barrels revolution speed would vastly complicate the system and have high maintenance issues keeping those ports clean. They'd also have to be adjustable and controlled for various conditions and maybe even extreme temperatures. A simple electric motor or more likely servo drive is much simpler and easier to maintain. And gas driven would require a bit of time before the full rate of fire due to barrel rotation speed was established.
These boats will be instrumental and very much in demand for escort duties whenever a Navy ship enters or leaves possibly hazardous ports, whenever an aircraft carrier battle group transits the Strait of Hormuz, Strait of Gibraltar and other choke points. It could also assist in anti-piracy missions. The Navy could incorporate a "mother" ship in the form of an amphibious assault ship for groups of several Mark VI patrol boats operating in a particular area. The Iranian Navy would be extremely foolish to try to interfere with the operations of these Mark VI boats, especially now that a totally new hardline doctrine has been established. What this boat needs is a small hand-held missile system, which I believe it probably already has.
I think these ships may be meant for shallower waters. An Amphibious Assault Ship would have a much larger draft than 4 feet. This ship appears to be a Littoral Combat Ship. Those are meant for shallow water patrol. However, I could see how loading a few of these ships with Marines could make for a very threatening boarding force.
Those are not the purposes of these very small boats. I spent over 24 years in the Navy, so I have sound knowledge of naval operations. After 9/11, the U.S. Navy really upped its defensive posture, especially when it's ships enter or leave port, or are moored or anchored in port. And that is precisely what these very small boats are going to be used for. The U.S. Navy already has similar small boats, and these new boats will be their modern, improved replacements.
Makes sense. But it would really suck to have to go in deep waters with a 4-foot draft, and then have a storm crop up. Take it from me, a 6-foot draft can be bad enough. I only wonder how they'll transport these. With that draft, trans-oceanic voyages would be extremely dangerous, plus the apparent lack of racks, and the relatively short range. I know the Navy has supply ships, but I don't think that's quite what they're designed for. Thoughts on that? (By the way, what was your rank/rate?)
Could use these for patrol of sections of interior waterways such as major rivers, the Great Lakes, and the Intracoastal Waterway.
+Stu Bur
What, you think the US needs to face the Canadiacs on the great Lakes with 25mm Bushmaster autocannons? Over compensate much?
Very cool, good explanations.
Very cool! I wish I had one of those boats.
When i was in the artillery we did everything on paper, and the computer was just to check our work. And we took half as long to get a solution.
Guys in the infantry used to laugh at the advanced mortar course. Didn't realize how hard it was till they got there! Paper doesn't brake down.
Electronics when paper isn't viable, and paper when electronics aren't viable.

Just shoot those FKING PT BOATS with your 50 cal and 20mm cannon. But reserve your ammo for the KAMIKAZES
@Ribeye Robert D Timemark 0:57, what's that fish about?
They can mount MK50s(?)(the ones our Helos carry for ASW) using a special mount. They can also mount Hellfire missiles, Griffin Missiles, Penguin Missiles, and Stinger Missiles...all from a variety of mounts the Navy has been playing with.
I liked the BAE proposed mount which incorporated a MK38 25mm Gun Mount (the 25mm cannon shown on the boats in the video) featuring dual feeds (to select from two different ammo types) with two Quad Missile Launchers on either side of the cannon, allowing you to carry either two different missiles (with 4 rounds each) or 8 missiles of one type.
@Joshua N. Ajang I don't know. I have seen an article where they tested Spike but IDK if Brimstone has been tested.
Replacement for cyclone class ??
I'm wondering that too. Shorter range (PCs do 2500 nm to 500nm here) but she can carry just about as much "firepower" with HALF the crew. She's also probably 20 knots faster with HALF the draft. IDK what the actual operational costs would be but Payroll is much less right off the bat.

Wow thats a pretty spacious little speed boat, I wonder if it has any armor on it to protect the sailors from pirate gunfire.
Yes, it does. Aluminum and Kevlar in the hull along with a ballistic material in the RIB (the "flotation ring" around the outside of the boat). Most military RIBs have ballistic protection for small arms.
@@swaghauler8334 Pretty neat, thanks for the info :-)
@@WiseSilverWolf The armor will keep the crew alive in a non full-scale war, so in this regard, it serves its purpose. If you need protection from torpedoes, and missiles, then the larger Destroyers, and Frigates, have already failed at their jobs. I could be wrong about the armor, as it's likely meant to protect against anything smaller than a LRASM. Best way to find out? Decommission one, and start shooting it. lol
We need a lot of these all over the world. Sending these to the Philippines now what have there is not enough
Wondering? Are there hard points to attach torpedoes?

Nice, but might this old CAV Trooper suggest some Chicken shields on the M-2 and 240s? There was a reason the Oerlkons of old had them. ; )
most if not all of the guns on this vessel are or can be controlled remotely which he describes numerous times in the video.
So I saw, but there are a few unprotected and manually operated 240s on the top deck that concerned me. However in another video about this boat model, I noticed that there ARE indeed chickenshields protecting the gunners. Just a case of an over protective Army looking out for its little sister service(s).
John Taylor only one is controlled remotely, the rest are manned
Guys, I'm not trying to put down the system nor the Navy (well, at least not TOO much on the later), it is an outstanding boat. However, there are similarity between the Boat and our equipment in the Cavalry (CAV). This idea is range and protection of the crew. With the old ACAV (a M-113 derivative) there were three gunners; two with 7.62 and on the commander manning the 50 cal. Arcs of fire had to be established not only from the vehicle, but also with supporting "Tracks". Jumping ahead a few years to the M-1 Abrams, we find a similar system this time with what the Navy would consider a 4 inch gun (Closer to a 5 inch) plus three MGs (two 7.62s and one 50 cal). Yet despite the outstanding firepower, the Abrams alone is still vulnerable. Tactics have been developed that involve a page out of the Air Force's manual: Our Tankers use the Wingman Concept. Moving on to a provable engagement scenario in the Persian Gulf, the Crew of this Boat will not just be facing one or two armed speedboats, but dozens. Each putting out as much lead as possible to suppress the crew of the Mark VI, therefore crew protection is important for the guys manning the boat to survive and accomplish their mission. Finally, lets put my sentiments in the proper perspective: GO ARMY....SAVE THE SQUIDS! ; )
TheStuntdude12 actually, it has two remote controlled Mk 38 Mod 2 25mm autocannons.
Outstanding !!

Little overkill for that boat but I love the GAU-8 as well, the Vulcan cannon, the 20mm could work though for serious anti piracy and then bring in a slightly larger craft w 2 GAU-8s as support. Some navies use the GAU-8 as a CWIS and call it Goalkeeper but use a 21mm sabo instead of the full 30mm round. The Vulcan is part of the Phalanx CWIS, gotta love rotary cannons !!
