Scotts back!
I am everywhere focker!
Canada needs to protect the income of its farmers. Hence, the 200% tariff you refer to. The US economy DWARFS Canada's economy. The tariffs we impose on Canada will be out of pure silly contempt, and not for valid economic reasons.
Then you advocate for protectionism? Either we ALL tariff, or nobody does, can't have it both ways and call it fair.
@@ThePodocasts1 Sure, and in the playground it was unfair to stay on the tire swing the whole time, because other kids wanted to use it too.
But the situation here relates to survival. A country with a relatively minuscule economy should indeed be afforded certain protections, in order to give its own people a chance to make a living and not starve to death, even if it's not "fair" that the monstrously gigantic economy doesn't have the same thing. It's only common decency.
@@DaveSmith-is6dc And I will disagree fundamentally with that sir. Tariffs are universally bad as is protectionism, it stagnates both growth and innovation. You should get the best your currency will purchase, not the 'best after the tarrifs'. This has nothing to do with country, and everything to do with overreaching global governments.
@ If tariffs are universally bad, then why did they help us when we were a small economy in the late 19th, early 20th centuries? My point is that this is nuanced. Tariffs when applied for logical rather than purely vindictive reasons, help Canada the way they helped us.
