Seems like so many people have criticism regarding music. If you don't like what you are listening to then change the channel, no one is forcing you to listen! For those who are enjoying Xeno and Oaklander we get to share something special together. Musicians make music to inspire, express their thoughts and emotions and most importantly for people to be moved by. I love how people are willing to learn something new even if it was done many years ago in a different fashion. Keep up the epic music!
When an artist gives you detailes about their tools you know they are in another level
By far the most substantial music in years. This is vocal electronic music at its purest. I hope to achieve half the magic these two have...
i know it's kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch newly released movies online?
I love how incredibly awkward these people are!!! Love it! You go nerds!😮
Fun and brilliant! Everyone needs to love live radio especially when there is video footage for it ha! Xeno & Oakland, thank you for your performance and interview!
I love this duo. So enchanting.
my chest cracks open and my mind explodes, thank you guys for being here
This deserves more praise. It's nice to see electronic music get it's fair share of the sunlight.
I love the way Sean waves his arms during the interview. It's obvious he spends a lot of time in Italy lol
Keep coming back to this. What an amzing set up. Raw analogue at its finest. Side by side sh101 looks so cool.
The atmosphere their music brings... Oh, God, love them 🖤
just read about them on Dais website, and I had to buy vinyl so to be true to the band. Now I dont consider myself an electronic or any wave music fan, just a good music fan. It was seeing The Faint live in Seattle, Choir Boy opened for them, UA-cam Choir Boy vid brought me Drab Majesty, I bought tickets to them and see Xeno and Oaklander on the bill and yeah full circle, music, technology and a love for sound brought me here
Going to see them open for Drab Majesty in Detroit. This video is my first time seeing/hearing them.
Perfect blend of engineering, dexterity and emotion. Easily the best full analog act in the past decade.
it's 2017. why are you even _thinking_ about analog synths?
maybe you can go home after the show and play atari?
not sure if trolling. Most artist have a whole other level of creativity when it comes to analog synths, drum machines etc.
nonsense.
the anti-digital backlash was initially a question of sound, and there was certainly a strong argument against digital for a few years in the late 80s. these arguments have been obsolete for years. what you're holding to is an ability to create sound without understanding the equipment. and, in that restricted context i will agree with you: analog gear makes it far easier for somebody that is untrained to start mashing things. but, this is not _creativity_; what it is is _pretension_.
in addition to eventually fixing the initial sound quality issues, the digital revolution brought with it an ability to order and control sound that is far more conducive to a legitimate creative process.
They are so good live!
This is out of this world, for real
I thank you for having this up !!! It so made my day!! (:
hits all the right waves. one of those perfect tracks
Love their sound--Ya really gotta know those machines--respect!
Great upload, delightful to see them so up close and personal making their magic. I've seen many of their live shows, but never gotten this close! And I love the transition between Par Avion and The Staircase around 22:00. Delightful, hope you all come to Stockholm soon!
Great performance!
Back for my annual fix
Wow! Simply excellent👌👍
Amazing, i love it!!
I'm loving this!!
saw them live in a concert , some years ago. awesome stuff, cool gig.
Nice nostalgic new wave sound. Not only 3 SH101 but also SH-09. It's amazing how the engineering at Roland recreated the SH-101, the SH-02 and the 808-909 on their Aira machines. They sound very close.
That's actually an RS-09 (a string machine), not an SH-09. I have the latter and it slays.
Nice song, thanks.
They are so far ahead of their time, pure genius
SpiritANML nah
just saw them in brussels :-) great show
Demencial 🖤
GREAT
Awesomeness and she's a total babe
Gold
Круто ребята..продолжайте✊
THEY MAKE NICE MUSIC.
Xeno & Oaklander !!!!!!!!!! >.<
not 2 but 3 SH-101
Step by step I walk towards you
Круто👍🙏
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! E>
I like flowers.
I'm HOOKED
real music art can't believe its not butter%
she forgot to bring her pants!
+Elimnio Most people only dream about forgetting to wear their pants. She's living the dream.
I always wonder how he changes his patches between songs. Any idea?
More bands like this?
minimal synth / minimal wave bands
Second song: 16:20
the off-kilter vox takes some getting used to... But, the frenetic synth playing is an earful. amazing how someone can actually keep pace with their machines. Where can I buy stock in Roland? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
modular mayhem, indeed!

2:30 = elle est en slip ?
before i utterly shit on music i treat like a new whiskey; i take a drink, swish it around, then consume it.
if i don't like it at first i place it on the shelf and return later for another tasting...
here i am returning one year later and fucken hell - it still tastes like a bitter man's boot nailed to a truck tire swing set melting in the hot sun.
That being said, here is a small list of bands and their albums that have crafted a fine sound you might enjoy:
Factory Floor - self titled
Joy Electric - The Otherly Opus
Bon Voyage - L'imposture
Void Vision - Sub Rosa
Miss Kittin & The Hacker - First Album
Cascading Slopes - Towards A Quaker View Of Synthesizers
1:10 ok la meuf est carrément en slip .. classe
Back for another fix
take a shot every time they say analog. Good music though!!
two sh-101s as controllers , LOL WOW
Who's the minion on the mixer? KEXP employee? ;-)
thats kevin
@@iamyourfuture808 that's liz's husband, egan frantz
Why is the host's nose so red and flared???
⭐️🌟💫🪐✨
2 sh-101 and tr-606 for controllers lol wow
tl596 what's wrong with that?
tl596 like I genuinely have no idea about these things so I want to know why that's bad?
Sonia T My guess is that it's because these synths are so coveted in their own right. Using a few of them as controllers, and not for their actual sound, might be seen as decadent by those who'd be happy just to get their hands on one of those machines. Just a guess.
+robotlove3000 yeah they are also pretty rare and expensive now a days, their sound is awesome too. Acid ftw.
On m’a dit en églises non xénon ? Ccpp
so who's the new engineer?just some guy,huh?
Liz's husband, Egan Frantz.
why the hell is the soundmen sittingthere
It’s Liz’s husband I think
He sounds like Richie Hawtin
Love it!! These guys are probably into weird sex though ;((
Like mimicking the rhythm of the beat machine or using all those cables :))
Cool but I can't stand the frantic sequencers. Gotta stop listening now.
why is our culture perpetually stuck in 1983?
it's not. And that's a problem
but, it is, and it's a giant problem.
it's minimal and this is not a problem
@@jessicavlogger You don't equate the creation of an instrument with the creation of the music. Song is independent from origin of the instrumental devices.
Piano, why are people stuck in the 1710s
Violin, why are people stuck in the 1510s
1870s electronic keyboard
The invention of synths, rock, rap, country, blues, jazz, let's throw it all away and start new.
@@app369 that's a false equivalency, because these are primitive instruments that should be discarded - like claviers and lutes.
No comment. Damn Jim Morrison for being right predicting the future of music envisioning electronic sounds created by someone turning dials & moving levers- too plastic for me...no soul- but to all who like ..enjoy!
Haven't you heard? The new soul is the electronic chip. Look no further than the smartphone to see how connected we are to Our Bionic Mother.
What's the point of prefacing a comment with "no comment"?
if there is music, there is soul
This is not a dj playing stuff out on a computer...this is organic. everything you heard in there was payed by hands into sequencers.
Ar Cobol Probably to emphasize that everything that follows will be impressively douchey.
ehh, this is OK..
had to scan through the comments tho--
sorry , but *this is NOT ahead of it's time!*
it IS stinkingly *RETRO-GRESSIVE*
a TON of bands from the late 70's early 80's done this already as single tracks, one off albums etc -- the genre is called "minimal synth"
....and then there ARE actually the pioneers some still around: ( as far as this particular sound) Chris and Cosey decades ahead, Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, OMD....... blah blah....
Boring ass modular excess and vintage gear boring crap,
you could do all this mostly on one Elektron Analog Four (as far as what the dude is doing)
Electronic Music is not new kiddies,
and (definitely) neither is this
+liverawkstar Who said they were trying to do something brand new anyway? Good music is good music and theres no need to re-invent the wheel each time. X&O are actually one of the best Minimal Wave duo's of this era in mine and a lot of other people's opinion.
Hi, I disagree. I own an Analog Four, and whilst it is a very powerful machine, what Sean is doing here goes far beyond its capabilities, Eurorack is whole different ballpark. It also sounds more organic due to its unpredictable nature. However, to suggest that this is minimal synth genre...sure, of course it is, what's so bad about that? It's a great genre and it's great that we have modern artists creating new and interesting music down that vein. I don't think people here are saying this is new, I think they're just enjoying it because they like it. Peace out internet grump, hope your day gets better xoxox
-The music has no "soul" like jim morrison predicted"

have you read that comment thread.
