Never been to either place since we both live in Europe would love to go to South America but these story's open my eyes that if your a western tourist you have a huge target on your back. I speak fluent Spanish but i am white blue eyes so i would not look like a local and be prime target to rob.

Same thing happened to a friend in Russia (robbery). But he met 2 girls, went to a bar with them. After drinks, they told him that he owed a $1,500 tab. Some guys took him (by gun) to an ATM and were only able to get $1250. Close enough. He booked a flight home 2 days later.

Bro yes there is. There called la rebaja, farmatodo, there drugstores/ convenience stores that are open 24/7. My airbnb was beachside so I had no choice to walk beachside until I turn a corner onto the next street over . Get your facts straight before commenting. I didn’t go to the police station because what they took wasn’t that significant and I had a backup phone. I didn’t wanna go to the police and then be worried about them retaliating . I was traveling alone. I took the loss and moved on.
