  • In this video I change out the thermostats in my children rooms to fix a sticking thermostat and hopefully save some money this winter. In the process I find a major problem that luckily has an easy fix.

    Ok, the "this was supposed to be a 10 minute job" is classic. I've said that WAY TOO many times! Great video, thanks for sharing!

    Another comment here - go with wago nuts. Way better than wire nuts, especially for stranded and solid connections!

    Well done, very convoluted.

    This might seem like a dumb question but why would an in ceiling heating source be better when heat travels up?

      I thought the same when I first found out the heat panels were in the ceiling but they are a radiant type heat panel meaning they work more like the run and heat the objects in the room rather than the air like traditional heat sources. They have actually proved to be quite a bit more efficient than we had thought they would be.

      @@drewmansmodestmansion1917 Yeah that makes sense, It's kind of like a convection heat lamp. Glad it's working out! I'll be checking out some 240V electric radiant floor options when I redo our floors in place of our baseboards. I just need to make sure they are powerful enough to serve as a primary heat source as some are not and will just warm the floor!

    Well we just moved in to our new place last Nov 1. The heating bill seems to come every 2 months. We have base board heat, and just left them all around 18c. Well first bill hits the mail box....$1300. My friggen jaw dropped. Hope yours is cheaper. Needless to say we have re-tuned our approach to which heaters can stay down at 10c when your not in the room. I should mention this is in Canadian dollars.

      Yes electric is one of the most expensive heating fuels especially baseboard electric, the In ceiling panels we have seen to be a little more efficient. I would look into swapping in these newer thermostats that modulate the power, typically I don’t see ours go above 50% power as they get closer to the set point. Might help out a little. The good thing about electric is low maintenance/ replacement cost.

    I thought I was the only one who stuck stranded wire a little past the solid in a wire nut😂😂

      @drewmansmodestmansion1917  3 роки тому +1

      No sir! That’s the only way to do it! I have seen where guys didn’t do that and the solid wire actually poked through the wire nut and shorted to the box.

      @@drewmansmodestmansion1917 I was wiring a junction box in the attic of our new church building and I had 1 strand of the 12ga stranded sticking out of the nut and when I went to put the cover on...boom! 🤣
