I agree. There's room for everything but they got it right hundreds of years ago - using the fingers as a "trigger" mechanism gives power, speed, and control instead of the hamfisted foolishness you often see. This cat has it all!
Due to a combination of liking the crisp sound and my being very old causing issues with bending down to the face of the cajon, I have taken to using bamboo multi sticks. Up to now I have been using a trad' over and under grip but having tried your 'double under' idea I am now retraining myself. Thanks.
