I remember getting the double CD they put out of this. Greenday had When I Come Around on it. The live version actually got played a lot on the radio, and even MTV played it split as a live video. Back in the 90s not much use of pedals. You plugged into a Marshall, turned your guitar down for light breakup, then turned it to 10 to fully distort. Super simple and effective Vs 20 pedals and a clean amp. Given they were a trio they had to play super tight to sound good. The pros are there’s more room to get the instruments sounding good and loud. The bad part is if you don’t have good energy and songs…they brought both here! Being a mixer for a living, the less instruments you have cluttering a mix the louder and punchier you can be…kudos to the sound guy as well! He was rocking a Marshall Super Lead for the amp here, and his guitar. That’s it nothing else!

Definitely one of the most underrated drummers out there. The drumming in Basket Case is phenomenal!
Dirnt has looked like he’s 40 since he was 20.
This is one of the greatest live performances of all time. I knew it when I was 10, and I know it now.
Obviously you’ve never seen nickel back perform.
I still come back to this for their performance of FOD. The look in Billy's face in the beginning as he plays through the hailing lumps of grass holding full composure up until the guy grabs his tie is insane. Seconds later full chaos mode ensues..
This is my favorite period of green days career
This sure brings back fun memories, thanks Green Day. They were so hilarious and wild.
“Were” key word there
@@braylendoesskitts8492 sadly they got old
@@JuanDavid-ig8fuI wouldn't say got old, more like became shitty sellouts.
They're still Green Day for sure. Just not *THIS* Green Day.
Fn love em to death, always will, but damn it's been a long time since they've released anything very noteworthy or memorable.
This is a freakishly perfect performance. Straight legends!
Amazing :)
It's also astonishing how Billy Joe's singing is so great and on point especially considering the fact he was playing guitar so hard!)
Pure energy
From all the drugs he was on at the time
Chrystal meth will do that for you
the magical power of speed and cocaine
Man. What a time to be there and alive. I believe I missed this Green Day set because I didn’t really know who they were and I was over at the North Stage getting a good spot for Porno For Pyros. Saw Dylan, Chili Peppers and Peter Gabriel later that same night.
And I had fucking mud in my ears and sinuses for weeks.
Man, you made some good choices otherwise. Those are excellent excellent bands. Porno for Pyros was awesome live!
@@user-cb2lz8yy9s Word. Nothing beat NIN the night before though. I was standing near the sub woofers on the left side, and it was so loud, I remember looking down at my shirt flapping around because of the sub harmonics. Although I was tripping too so it may have been that. Lol.
@@patton303 holy shit man that must've been insane
It was not mud. IT WAS SHIT
@@bluntforcetrauma2141 You took the time to think of fecal matter and had the actual urge to tell other people about it. WTF 💩💩
Mike Dirnt with the Screeching Weasel shirt 🤘 it’s because of Green Day I discovered the 👀Lookout! Records catalog and became aware of all the amazing underground pop punk that was happening.
Yeah man! Me too!
Same! Haha Green Day was definitely a gateway band
Screeching Weasel should've been up there with Green Day and Blink182 IMO. Had such a beautiful raw pop punk sound.
@@thesickle9006 I agree. I think they’re influential but mostly unknown. The catchy lead riffs Tom DeLonge/Blink 182 were known for were a signature style of SW years earlier.
This is a great example of how bands that sound the same as the album always thrive LIVE 🤘❤
Many memories, listening to this cassette on my radio, I was a 9-year-old boy... my sister, who is now far away, gave it to me for my birthday.
This is pure rock n roll, dangerously fun!
Tres Cool already showing what a great drummer he would become
For real, I don't think he gets nearly the recognition he does as a drummer. One of the tightest there is. Hell, I've been a Green Day fan for almost 30 years, and even I've never really given it much thought before, but this performance shows just how damn good he is.
All 3 are in powerhouse mode here. What a great live band
Not their biggest fan but this is every thing good about rock. Total 🔥
It has to be said they have some great tunes and they are putting their life and soul into this performance. How many bands would have stormed off once the mud started to fly?
agreed
@@shack7631 probably everybody because they are a bunch of pussies these days LMAO fucking clowns
You have to be really in good shape to play a show like this. It’s tight AF and they’re still doing it as old men!
They also dabbled in methamphetamine
@@ballathug8404 And?
@@MikalTheGoatBridges you tend to have more energy when you’re smoking a bubble
This video is nearly 30 years old...
They aren't old men, dumbass.
Finally someone mixed this
What a clusterfuck. Mad respect to Green Day for pulling this show off.
Feeling old. They were definitely one of the more memorable performances that weekend. Great, great live act.
fuck feeling old you got to be fucking alive for this shit. like "im not growing up im burning out" im 16 and im telling you man thats the fucking shit you were there. you got that energy, its with you forever. that youth is forever in you.
1994 green day was the best green day. reminds me of senior year baby
Seeing this show the first time legitimacy changed my life. 10 year old me realized there was a place for myself, and thats the absolute truth.
I was there. On the left field. The hay mud fight hilarious 😂 what fun. Thanks ❤ for posting.
The bass and drums sick !
Underrated 😳🤘
Not really lol. They are known as one of the tightest rhythm sections ever. Plus don't they have like millions of records sold. Yeah.
@@kane00000
To be exactly:
Green Day has sold more than 75 million records worldwide..
Rock & roll hall of fame.... underrated??? Shit comment bro'
What’s so scary is that they hadn’t even really hit their peak at this point.
28 years ago today! Come back to this video every year to watch this performance. Still holds up!
Legitimately cannot believe this video is older than me. Born in 95 and grew up skating after school listening to Green Day. Used to watch their International Superhits Music Video DVD on my Tube TV on repeat. Nostalgia is not the word
1994 was so amazing!

I love Mike antagonizing the crowd the entire concert lol. This was such a tight performance from beginning to - muddy - end, they were all at the top of their game. Been a fan ever since Dookie came out, but I never got to see this whole concert before now.
33:55 mike getting his teeth knocked out by a security who mistook him for one of the crowd 😂 (according to Wikipedia anyway!)
I just love 90's youth: so savage, reckless, honest and careless.
@mysticstrider Exactly.
Dookie was my first CD, I got it along with my very first CD player for my 14th birthday, and all these years later at 40 years old I still listen to it every now and then
beautifully mixed live show! and legendary performance
This was about 10 year before I was born, but I have loved this band for as long as I can remember ❤️ ♥️... I absolutely adore this video. I have never been fortunate enough to see them in concert. I really hope I can see them soon!
This performance made them an overnight sensation.
They did so well in my opinion, but they actually said that they think this performance was meh.
They were already famous, dumbass.
Meh at best
Absolutely Timeless.
so much awesome noise from 3 guys. what a great show. Dookie (my favorite) holds up 10000000% to this day. Brings back many great memories (i'm almost 40 now)
when someone says GD is not punk, show them this
I was 3 years old when this happened. Imagine being there, shit looked crazy!
Great performance by GreenDay like I just love this performances!! I'll always be a fan of GreenDay Forever!!

You really can't get more Punk Rock than that! Was by far one of the best sets from Woodstock 94. Still by far one of my favorite bands!
What a performance that was. Seen them at TITP and they’re one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen.
still one of the best bands. Cant wait for their new album this year in 2022. It’s been rumored on a few different platforms to be called 1972. The year all 3 members where born are all turning 50 this year.
What’s crazy is dookie came out when I was 10-11 years old.
Still waiting on that, painfully. It's been teased and shit for too long. I get they're probably just taking their time making sure it's everything they can make it, but damn it's taking too long 😂
I was on stage (to the left) It was one of the craziest things I have ever seen! So f-ing punk it was incredible. The mud started flowing on stage and it became really weird. The worst part was when Mike got punched in the face, he rushed past me and said "He f-ing punched me in the face, I'm going to sue the mother----er!" I later talked to Michael Lang (organizer of the event) and he said that incident almost ended Woodstock forever.
That would be 1999….
@@ianscomics No it was 1994, 1999 was a total mess, where they burned stuff down, that was the year Michael decided to not have anymore Woodstocks, but the fight at this concert almost brought it to a halt too.
Hahahaha "I'm gonna sue" what a rich boy reaction, so not very punk
Punk? I doubt that
@@bessallin459 I guess you would have had to be there, I've been in mosh pits, slam danced at CBGB's and performed for over 15 years, I can assure you it was very Punk.
One of the most epic live music sets ever!
Thanks for this video, after nearly 30 years world deserve to see that green day had been stands out through everything, this performance was quite a controversy, at the end crowd starts throwing clothes soaked in mud, I think they got pissed when started to rain 🤘
Gotta love how fun-lovin' and riotous the crowd was...
I just love how Mike Dirnt plays the Paper Laterns bass riff like....forever.
I still remember watching this concert when I was 13 years old everyday after school and even on the weekends. I have to say I had such a great adolescence, now I´m 30 years old and I can still feel the feeling of those days and back then I didn't understand a shit about what the songs said or what they talked about in the concerts, but now that I know English I understand almost everything hahahaha.
Tre Cool is a drum god NO CAP the genus clock work while attempting to look aloof is mind boggling.
The sound mix on this is really great. Tre's drums sound fantastic, precise and well defined!!
When I was 14 (in 1994)... I thought the mud fight was the coolest thing in the world!!!!
Then I turned 24 and all of a sudden I was just way too cool for school, and thought this was so lame.
Before I knew it I was in my early 30's and thought, "I mean... it's kind of obnoxious, but hey... they're having fun."
I'm 42 now, and realize just how iconic that mud fight was... and am right back to thinking this is one of the coolest things in the world.
I love some guy that is one hundred percent methed out grabs billie and hes just cool with it
They were probably on the same wavelength
I used to have an import/bootleg copy of this performance along with another show slapped on at the end of the concert on CD. Ahhhhh, the beautiful memories
