    I was wondering why I feel like something's change when I sing after started mewing - but your instruction to suck the back of the tongue really helped me work out if I was mewing or not!
    I spent a few days wondering if I was really mewing or not as I couldn't see the position of my tongue lol

    It's true
    I' 26, ans I've been mewing counsciously for about 3 days.
    But in the past I've naturally noticed how my tongue actually prefers to rest on the palette. But it was very hard to engage the right side on my tongue. So I looked for the actual method, and found qhat mewing is about.
    Incidentally, I've had physical issues in the right side of my body . And well, it's been a very whole body process.
    Today (minutes ago), I was singing, and I felt this really 'funny', nice electrical sensation in the jaw, neck and tongue. What a weird breaktrhough. And my singing was shaky, like if I were through puberty again hahaha but it was so powerful!
    I recommend this.
    Preach!
    P.s: I really recommend doing facial exercises to train both the tongue, and also the jaw and neck. Also breathing exercises. For singers they work beautidully, I imagine.

    Thank you for doing this video. You're the only voice coach I've seen who has mentioned the orthodontist (and other specialist) understand of correct resting tongue posture. That being said, all other voice coaches say the rest tongue position is just behind the bottom front teeth. Do you think there is a time and place to rest the tongue there? Or should the tongue always go back to flat against the roof of the mouth?

      @@alexanderbaker4900 Can you reword that last part? I want to understand what you're saying there. I like effective visualization techniques. But I'm not sure what you mean by "making it shorter as it approaches the palate" soft palate? and I can't figure out what tongue up and jaw down is referring to. I'm doing it right now, and I can't imaging singing while doing it, so I must be misunderstanding what you're saying.

    One side of my soft palette is higher than the other. It's the side I sleep on. So I guess I was accidentally mewing on one side while asleep. I do have issues such as reaching high notes so I really hope this helps. Can you tell me if the tip of the tongue is supposed to be resting on the bumps in the front or further up? If it goes further up right behind my front teeth it hits my teeth that are two teeth away from the front teeth.

      Hi Kuldeepj, Are you wondering about the tongue position when at rest or during singing? During singing, ideally the middle/back portion of tongue will raise and sometimes maintain contact with the back molars, while the tip of the tongue remains relaxed by the bottom lower teeth. However, in rest position, ideally the tongue is attached to both the hard and soft palates. To get the correct tongue position during rest, we may have to practice by "sucking" the whole tongue against both hard and soft palates.

      Hi Garima! Do you mean how to get the back of the tongue up on the roof of the mouth?

    • @garimagarg3213
      @garimagarg3213 4 роки тому

      VoiceWithJulia yes i can only touch half of the tongue..

    • @VoiceWithJulia
      @VoiceWithJulia  4 роки тому +1

      There will always be a part of the tongue (the very back) that you can't move up, but if you are having trouble getting more of your tongue on the roof of your mouth, start with half of your tongue and then try sucking up the back of the tongue even harder. In reality, only about 2/3 of your tongue will be on the palate. It sometimes takes a couple of weeks to find as your tongue loosens and adjusts.
