I have a 13 year old Samsung tv. Still running fine. That’s from when they still made quality products. Nowadays it’s all just garbage that dies once it’s out of warranty or even before.

Hurray, we can hear you again Allen.
Re TV engineers are now a rare breed, i closed my shop last November
it just wasn't making enough to pay all the overheads.
Now i work from home, but i will only work on brands and models that
you can fix with some certainty.
Samsung models are a very mixed bag, LG are also a common sight
but they are in general more reliable.

5:17 You need to hire an apprentice.
Letting your knowledge leave this world without passing it on to someone would be criminal.

I think you would have a great voice for radio ! A phone in show ! You would have LOTS of listeners !!

Funny you should say that. In a past life, Allen was very much a radio legend in Devon and Cornwall. I was fortunate enough to grow up listening to him and now I'm here watching him instead.

@@aaronjamesf1 Was he on the station called DevonAir ? I ask because I used to work for a Jingle company that produced jingles for that station back in the day. As soon as I heard his voice I could hear something special that I've also heard in many presenters voices over the years

Allan, have you made a video detailing how you go about isolating which clock lines are the problem. I battle with these Samsungs. Please help.

Yes I was in the TV Video trade for many years good for repairing things got bad when wide screen CRT ones appeared then LED LCD etc were good for selling light weight but only latest a few years then I was gone

Will drop you a PM or email shortly...
Just bought a house and the previous owners left several older TV sets behind.
From memory, 2 are broken (screen issues) so I'll happily strip circuit boards from them for you (saw the previous vid which mentioned this as being "a thing")
The local tip charge for TVs so it makes sense to cannibalise & break down as much as possible

Around this time, Samsung offered a 5 year warranty on some of their TVs. I had to register to get mine with Samsung. That was in 2022. Hopefully, owners know if their TV is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty 👍🏻

This is something that needs to be sorted by UA-cam to be honest. It's impossible to watch a playlist on UA-cam without having to run for the remote control at the start of each video in the playlist in order to adjust the volume . I cannot believe that UA-cam for not have some kind of equalising software that allows the user to set the desired volume level regardless of which video they are watching..

Not sure what this video had to do with a parts manufacture(r) going bankrupt?

    • @irishguy200007
      @irishguy200007 11 днів тому +1

It's everything to do with parts manufacturers going bankrupt because he only used a small piece of tape to achieve a perfect screen rather than buying a new screen from manufacturer and replacing it.

I thought I'd missed something, as I was expecting some company to be named that had gone backrupt. Slightly confusing title on this one.

Thanks Allen, Samsung are total rubbish now hero to zero in a matter of a few years, but across the board since 4k has been out all makes are failing too quick, is it that they’re cramming too much technology into the glass panels ?

@@pauldavies6037 Most people run their laptops directly connected to said 19v power supply most of the time. In both cases the desktop/laptop is equally susceptible to mains spikes.
