This exceptional concert of Jean-Philippe Rameau Opera-Ballet No.1 Les Indes galantes, RCT 44, extract Entry III Scene 7: Les Fleurs « Tendre Amour » was broadcast at the Philharmonie de Paris by France Musique Concerts in 2019. Jean-Philippe Rameau is a French composer and music theorist during the High Baroque period. Rameau's lyrical work forms the largest part of his musical contribution and marks the apogee of French classicism, whose canons were forcefully opposed to those of Italian music until well into the 18th century. In this area, the composer's most famous creation is the opera-ballet « Les Indes galantes » created in 1735. This part of its production remained forgotten for almost two centuries, but has now been largely rediscovered. The French musicians of the Romantic period were not mistaken, in the midst of Germanic musical hegemony, allowing the gradual rediscovery of his work. Quote from Jean-Philippe Rameau: « True music is the language of the heart ». Harpsichordist, conductor, musicologist and equally teacher, William Christie is the artisan of one of the most remarkable musical adventures of the last forty years. Pioneer in the rediscovery of French baroque music by creating the Les Arts Florissants orchestra in 1979. We owe a lot to this great Master for his diligent work during all these decades. *Lucien*
I love my old baroque compatriot RAMEAU, and in particular his "Indes Galandes"? I have a private music room which I called "Salon de musique Jean-Philippe RAMEAU"
Only the French seem to be able to marshal so many super-stars to come together in this way. Magical. But then only the French state seems to value classical music so much. Equally magical.
agree, but i think you mean the major 7th (F#) over the G chord (subdominant), with the added major 9th (A). It's a wonderful passage, not common at all.

I love seeing Christie gesture for the singers to sing more quietly, only none of them are looking at him!
Magnifique 👏
This is a beautiful, timeless song, of not so long ago.
Look to 100+ years ago to understand today:)
Things HAVE NOT changed so much.
