Beautiful rifle.. My Marlin 60 / year 2003, puts 10 rounds of CCI minimags in a penny size ragged hole at 50 yards till today. Will never let that rifle go..
Nice little Marlin. The Geco is usually pretty accurate especially the Match but may be slower which can cause cycling issues. A good peep sight sounds good & better than the buckhorn rear. If for hunting I wouldn't worry about stock finish but for a keepsake it's interesting to refinish a stock. Have fun. 👍🙏🇺🇸
When I tore in to it I found a broken extractor. Plus it was pretty gummed up. I shot quite a bit of the hv cci off camera and had multiple failures. Just needs some love.
Wikipedia reports that the model 99 came with a steel magazine tube instead of brass. Is that brass on yours? Perhaps the previous owner was smart enough to swap that out. Nice looking gun but my local gun store wants $325 for the one they got in stock.
I noticed that as well. There is also a white spacer between the butt pad and stock, which I don’t believe came on the original 99. Like I said, this rifle has been refurbished at some point. So it’s quite possible it is a frankengun. Good eye!
@@FirearmsandFellowship you mentioned recommended videos for maintenance. I recomend the Cumberland Outdoorsman. Complete teardown and reassembly! With no experience I could follow along and accomplish the same. After that I went with some replacement parts with Mcarbo springs to give my model 60 new life. Mcarbo has installation videos. ua-cam.com/video/Z992sT4akRI/v-deo.html
Field stripping for cleaning really isn't that complicated. It takes a few times to get to really get familiar with the process. The most important thing is not to kink the recoil spring.

Just bought one of these to add to the collection. Great rifle.
I had never owned a 60/99. They have a loyal following. After shooting the 99 I can see why. They are nice rifles. Enjoy and thanks for watching!
I had a 99DL like that. Super nice semiauto. Wish I still had it.
I’ve been really impressed with the 99 so far. In fact, several marlins have impressed me lately.

Rear of gun is moving every shot. You need a rear bag to run a group test
Yeah, the Precision Concrete Rifle Rest has its limitations 😂. Me! I have a sled. I just don’t enjoy using it.
The geco is standard velocity and probably doesn’t have quite enough energy to cycle it reliably. Nice gun!

And the distance.
That was between 25 and 35 yards. I Don’t recall exactly where I had the Precision Concrete Rifle Rest that day.

Yes, Cumberland has a plethora of great videos! I’ll check the other out too. Appreciate it!
I have an original 99 my dad bought new in 1959 with a Marlin branded 4x scope. It has a brass tube, Walnut stock with the bullseye.
