Carbon fiber fabric doesn't exist. At least not in the way you're thinking. What we think of as carbon fiber is carbon threads in a type of resin. In order to have the characteristic strength of carbon fiber, it becomes a ridged material. And, unfortunatly, while carbon fiber is insanely strong, it does so by becoming incredibly brittle. When carbon fiber "bends", it fails catestrophically, and shatters dangerously. Also, even though DLC is awesome, it does wear off over time, just like any other coating. So, sadly, as cool as forever sandpaper would be, it isn't really realistic with current technology. I hope that answers your question. :-)

You don't have to coat just add 6 percent dlc with fiber

You can get carbon fiber matting just like for fiberglass. No resin in it. You add the resin. And the matting is woven so it's technically fabric.@@israelgarcia7269

I wonder if part of it is that we're used to perky female voices selling us stuff, wheras experienced-sounding male voices are more used for explanations (documentaries, etc)? Imaging this in the old guy's voice makes it seem a lot more neutral to me.
