When the Laurentide Ice Sheet melted from the surface of Maine around 14,000 years ago, , the land surface, which had been depressed below sea level, was flooded by the Degeer Sea until the land rose due to the principal of isostasy. Marine sediments on the Presumpscot Formation were raised, and contained microfossils of single-celled organisms called foraminifera. These were the subject of my master's thesis in 1985.

I'd like to offer a modest suggestion for a topic: Historical Figures we didn't know were caught on film. I myself have seen:
Annie Oakley showing off her skills in 1894 Edison short.
Anne Frank on a balcony watching a royal procession in Amsterdam.
Mark Twain with 2 of his daughters in 1909.
A somewhat frightening fragment from 1945. Women on a welcome wagon greet returning soldiers. Is the black haired beauty... Elizabeth Short?
Marcel Proust descending a staircase, about 1904. Never takes his hat off, drat.
Yesterday I saw a clip of the 1900 Paris Expo. The focus is terrible, but a man in a white suit is easy enough to see. Is that man Oscar Wilde?
    Please surprise me.

      Strange how that works.
      *cough"
It's almost like the Earth has It's own cycles of heating and cooling that doesn't require environmental activists to put temperature sensors in parking lots and on rooftop to give intentionally high readings. Why? For the purposes of political fear mongering favoring a certain political party that are not shy about buying ocean front property despite the promises that it'll be underwater in 20 minutes, or 20 years ago depending on who you ask and when. The same party that pressures for stricter environmental restrictions, with no actual data that anything is changing that wasn't already changing, causing the prices of goods, services, and housing to rise. This rise in costs then squeezes the people, who then turn to that same party requesting aid which they are only too happy to give... assuming you pull the correct lever every few years. If for some reason these stupid plebs don't get "the message" and pull that other lever, it's still ok because the rising costs will still force them to buy their goods and services from a certain red country overseas, who uses a great deal of unpaid "interns", who may or may not be in control of said party anyway. Nbd.
      *cough*
Sorry, something got stuck in my throat there for a minute. Praise be to Gaia! Praise be to Al Gore! Praise be to the Media Industrial Complex!Orange Man bad!

I was taught that the Earth has a set of North & South geographic poles, and a very different set of North & South magnetic poles. The Himalayan plateau may have an impact on weather, but I don’t see how that would make it a “pole”. That bit sounded like hype used as an excuse to bring up (once again) the theory of anthropogenic global warming.

Mike you called Everest and K-2 "the tallest mountains in the world." While they may be the highest elevations on Earth, even that is debatable since there is a bulge around our world's equator causing the highest point above Earth’s center to be the peak of Ecuador’s Mount Chimborazo, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are both taller when measured from base to peak. They just start their climb from the sea floor instead of dry land like the other 2.

My question to is: Do you really think that your eyes are good enough to see a difference of 0.0001480933 inches? That would be the average rate of daily change to the sea level. Something tells me the answer is no, you can't.

See how easy it is to lie. Now imagine someone who stands to gain millions of dollars in funding telling people offeringsaid funding "no." Knowing they could help researching a treatment for any number of horrible things. What's one little fib? One sensor placed in an asphalt parking lot or on a rooftop? • @Allegedly_Monkey
      @Allegedly_Monkey 11 місяців тому

@user-gc7md3he9b So, you worked on the bay "for years." And your son keeps an EYE (something you admit can not detect very small changes like what is being discussed here) on the rub rails. And a good friend told you that it is no higher than it was "years ago." With accurate and verifiable measurements like these, I guess I'll just have to accept the fact that you have defeated the notion that sea levels are rising.... 🤣
So you admit your eyes can't detect these very small changes, but apparently, your anecdote about 3 sets of eyes that can't detect them is somehow enough to convince you of your position? You do know that the plural of anecdote is not evidence right, professor?🤦‍♂️

Do you realize 99% of the world uses the metric system? Stop pandering to only American's and start supporting your English speaking international fans. The least effort you could do is if you needed to say a temperature say both celsius and fahrenheit

@@chrissullivan4496 The metric is a better system. The United States would have had metric if not for some pirates capturing the ship with weights and other things for metric measurement. Captain died in captivity, The items were sold off, so the United States never switched.

Or the most irrelevant. The amount of carbon dioxide, also called "plant food" by some, released by humanity through burning fossil fuels and farming is utterly insignificant compared to that released by even average volcanic eruptions.
I'm all for reduce, reuse, and recycle, but there's no reason to get fussed about it.

Why do keep insisting Fahrenheit is the measure of temperature? That is just the American way. You might switch to Celsius, or if you want Kelvin.

for what its worth, a thousand years after humans are gone, you won't even be able to tell we were here. the audacity of humans to think we have an once of control over what happens to mother nature is astounding. could we treat our only home with more respect? certainly. but to think that we are responsible for the earth changing is untrue and you should be very careful the rumors you spread now until we have conclusive evidence we are totally culpable.
