Well good choice, We had a Dodge 6 cyl cargo van which we converted when we lived in Milian Mi and Greenville NH. Loved it. We have been looking at a cargo vans for to replace the Ford 150.
Thanks! We think we'll be happy with it. There are pros and cons to every platform, but we're happy with our choice. Stay tuned for our next video that compares a whole bunch of different van platforms.
@@HomeARoam FYI We were in Orlando yesterday and stopped by our old dodge dealer and looked at two vans . Did you get the 136" or 159" wheel base? The quote for a 2025 159" was 62K cash out the door, a "new" 2024 is about 17K less here.
Thank you! We are so excited, but also realize that there are so many considerations and details to think about. It's sure to be an adventure just deciding on all of them!
Thanks! We're really looking forward to seeing how it all comes together and sharing the progress with everyone. Our first trip! Can't wait for next summer now!
Congratulations! My wife and I have a promaster, a 2022. We did the conversion ourselves. It is a bit of work (understatement) but it all worked out. If you are curious what we did there is a tour on the Hike N Rv youtube channel, "Pete & Alix first-timers van build". We like how the promaster drives. For equipment we went with a Novakool fridge. Very happy with it. Had a small issue but, the manufacturer is in Coquitlam and took care of the problem quickly, so service is great. Our heater is an Espar, solar is Renogy and two ceiling fans are Maxxair, all are good from our experience.
Cool, checked out the video and turns out we were already actually subscribed! 😀 Hadn't heard of the Novakool brand. Will definitely check it out since it's local! We'll likely go Renogy again this time too since their equipment worked well on our trailer. For the heater, we're actually looking at a BISON 2000A. It seems like a good bed for high altitude usage, and we do find ourselves up in the mountains. 😀
U need to compair notes with Mike and Dana …Let’s just go Travel..they are also designing their dream van! This is so exciting for u guys! Can’t wait to see the finished project! Congratulations ❤
A combo of age and health forced us out of our teardrop trailer and into a van. While the queen sized bed in the teardrop was fine as there was a door on each side we soon found the largish double in the new to us camper van a bit of a pain. It got to be no fun crawling over the other in the middle of the night. Even going to bed shortly after the other was cause for grumbling. We modified our sleeping arrangements (in the van only!) to single beds, one down each side. Something to think about, ponder a while, pause to assimilate, etc.
Hahah, yes, we've thought about that. We don't tend to get up during the night very often, but that can certainly change over time. I (Jay) actually had to climb over Mel in our trailer when our slide was in since it cut off the one side and that was sometimes a bit of challenging gymnastics. 😀
This is you !! Congratulations!! You are going to love it !! I had one and enjoy it !! You can build a beautiful cosy home !!as always enjoy your channel!! As always BS & BK & BC !!!🎉
Congrats on the van purchase. We have totally been enjoying our van for the last 6 years and this year plan on traveling back to Texas for February and March, and then Utah in April.
Awesome! Sounds like you have an amazing trip planned. Utah is so beautiful 😍 Hope you get to stop in New Mexico on the way. We had lots of fun there, too.
@HomeARoam we were there a few years ago. It was beautiful. Hopefully we get to cross paths somewhere some day. I do have a few questions about your channel. Would you have a medium to talk one on one?
We’ve driven our 2020 3500 to Patagonia with high hopes we shall reach Ushuaia in December. It’s been brilliant. We had ours custom built with South America in mind and we really enjoy living aboard. I trust you will find the same joy with yours.
Looking good, you too, so diesel heater. Induction, cook stare you going to build your own batteries this time. Or are you gonna guess you still have your old ones lithium?
Not sure we'll build our own batteries. We're still looking at the options, though. Our previous lithium batteries were sold with our trailer, so we're starting fresh.
@HomeARoam Yeah, that's getting to be a very exciting point to build your own Van. I was thinking of doing the same. But I had placement of my fridge fridge at a higher level right behind the driver's seand. A slide out bathroom and hide away shower. There's so many good videos out there.
Congrats you two 🎉 You're going to love the freedom of travelling in a van! Can't wait to see the final layout!
Thanks! Can't wait to be able to go down to Baja with you again! Or for you to come out to the west coast to see it!
Yeah how exciting. Wowser. Love it. What a new adventure. ❤
A big tiny-living adventure ahead that we are excited to jump into.
Yeah! So glad you guys finally found a van.
Us too! It's been a long time searching and researching that's finally paid off!

Thanks! We've had the insiders scoop on Mike and Dana's van and even got to go see it. They're doing such an amazing job building it out!
Very nice and a blank canvas. I’m anxious to see how you build it out and equip it.
Thanks! We can't wait to dive into all the little design details. There are so many options for such a tiny space!
Congrats, this is very exciting! Look like you'll have even bigger adventure up ahead!
