- The news of a new railroad project has spread fast, and some groups want it built sooner than later. Needless to say, there are evil forces at work that introduce new mayhem where they can - even within a Dystopia!

Whenever I make model-fire or explosions, trails....I be like "naaaw that doesn't look right!", but when I see it on a pic I took, its :O
I would have used cotton for the black chunks going out to the sides but thats just me. Looks awesome!
I had some cotton and it kept sticking to my fingers and tweezers and I lost my patience with it. :) Thanks!

Another fantastic creation! The chopped-up sponge really does work for an effective LED-lit fireball. Also, I love the background music in your videos which reinforces the menace and creepiness of the Dystopia.

Oh boy, now this is a masterpiece! I would not have guessed it's that easy to make an explosion this way, but even when it was just coarse turf on wire stuck in a few glued together pieces of sponge, and it looked pretty amazing already!
Hope we'll see some more of the green train's machinations.
The lighting makes all the difference! It's pretty boring until you light it up.
@@NScaleDystopia I think it even looks great without the light, but it's true, the light adds that special something and the "nightshot" with the blue ambient light makes the effect pop even more (though one can't see the masterfully done rust zones as well).
Not only is the modeling impressive and the use of common materials like a minced up sponge to make the explosion super creative, the capacity for storytelling with this is on another level! 😃 Could this be the work of one of the many factions of the Dystopia dealing a massive blow to a rival of theirs but destroying their valuable fuel supply? Or perhaps it was a booby trap disguised as a peace offering? Who knows!
Also, I loved the crafty GO Transit engine shuffling off after the explosion 😂

Anyone else would have used cotton wool for the explosion cloud....but not you. The sponge works brillliantly! A small diorama that packs a big punch! :-D

I’ve always had an observer’s fascination with model train dioramas & admired the skill and dedication needed to create one. Your Dystopia diorama is fantastic and has sparked a wish to maybe start my own some day.

We all take inspiration from somebody somewhere . I didn't come up with this idea independently. There are other people out there doing similar things. Either way, thank you for the kind words.
Looks great. Using ground foam for the flames is a great idea that I've never seen before (I've only seen cotton wool being used). Maybe it'd not work for larger scales? Wont know till I try it. Cheers, Kev.
I have seen the cotton used as well for the fireball. The sponge looks really good as well.
