Am blown away by your generosity. The content of your free work here is THE most detailed work ever. Thank you SO much for such investment into people.
words like this are priceless and I believe many of us feel the same. Believe it or not one day God will help you along the way Bill. Please keep doing great things for mankind.
Simply incredible , Bill . The efforts you have put into and the gracious sharing of knowledge is indeed praiseworthy ! Amazing .. God bless you ! I am enjoying learning
I just found his channel and I could learn soo much but I only have a mini keyboard that I bought for my son 20 years ago and there is no middle C. 😂. I've wanted always wanted to learn😂
We live in an amazing time where you can go on the internet and learn whatever skill you want for free from people who know what they’re doing, I remember when that wasn’t possible. Thanks bill
Hi Bill, I hope you are still viewing your comments. I am 65 years old and my entire life have wanted to learn the piano. I remembered sitting on the front step of my best friends home listening to her take piano lessons and wishing we had a piano so that I could take lessons. I bought myself a keyboard in my 30's and tried to learn with a book but raising children made this impossible so I gave up. I have been struggling over the last 10 years with illness and sadly all my attention has been focused on trying to make it through a day relatively pain free. I finally decided I need something else to focus on that would bring me joy and so I said to myself, "What about piano lessons?". The blessings of HaShem fell upon me immediately when I found your youtube and I want you to know that this gift that you have given to so many is so valuable. I went out and bought myself a keyboard yesterday and started this morning! May you be blessed for being such a blessing! Shalom from Jerusalem!
I certainly am still viewing them - shalom from North Yorkshire! It always absolutely makes my day to hear that my videos are helping people, so thanks very much for letting me know. Good luck with the rest of the course, and please do let me know if you have any questions or run into difficulties. Long experience of seeing people going through this course suggests that those who do best are the ones who really nail down the basics and do lots of reinforcement practice of the first few lessons - that means you have a strong foundation for when things start to get a bit trickier, around lesson 9. So try to practise every day if you can, and really work hard at memorising stuff like note names on the keyboard and in treble and bass staves - it makes things way easier later on. Behatzlacha!
Hi Bill, I’m a Senior, on a budget....I play by ear, as well have had 2 years of lessons.._no can afford those.... 😢. I’ve been looking for a on line Tutorial that’s worth getting involved. I just found it....you are an excellent Instructor....clear and direct, and understandable....I’m nearing 80 and love my piano, and simply can’t stop learning! Thank yu so much for continued inspiration....🎶🦋
No problem at all, Martha - I'm really glad to have been of help. If you run into any specific problems or have any questions, just give me a shout. I sometimes take a little while to reply (I get a lot of messages...) but I always will in the end!
i think i’m gonna do a lesson a week or so, i love that you can do it at your pace. Such wonderful info you’ve provided us…. I can’t believe it’s free! you’re a gem!!
Hi Bill, thank you so much for this series. It has been almost 7 years since you uploaded this and I can't imagine the number of people you have taught and helped and from multiple geographies too! What I loved the most is how you made me associate "oh it's so hard and frustrating" feeling to something positive - my brain creating new circuitry and being familiar with the subject. I embrace that feeling not only with piano but with whatever I am learning and it helps me to keep pushing through and not drop things out of frustration.
Thank you! Yes, I like to think it’s helped a few people. I tried doing some rough maths on this the other day, based on how many people have watched the final few videos in the series, and making allowance for random watches/curiosity/revisits etc. Anyway, I think the number of people who have actually completed is into the thousands - around five thousand, perhaps, which I’m pretty happy about. I hope you make good progress yourself - let me know how you get on!
I am just learning and realized that this was made so long ago and he is still answering god bless him and he is so sweet 😊❤❤ and he has a great sense of humor
Bill, Marge Ball here, was just reading through what some people have written, Wow there are a lot of older people starting to learn piano. I am so glad about that because it will help with the memory of people our age and also keep the bones limber. This is a great service to older people. Great job that you teach well enough for us seniors to understand and follow what we need to do to play piano.
Thanks Marge! I never really planned it to work this way, but it seems that more mature learners actually make up the single largest group following this series - which is fine by me, as you/they tend to be very dedicated learners!
I'm an airplane pilot and I'm grounded due to covid19, so instead of watching netflix during all day long, I've decided to learn something new. And moreover, I'm brazilian, so my first language is portuguese, then I'm using my time to learn about piano and to improve my english as well. Thanks Bill for the lessons! I have to admit that it's a little bit hard; I had tried Simply Piano before your channel, but I didn't feel that I was actually learning something. Here I am! So thanks again and stay home!!
Had piano lessons as a kid but stopped cos I lacked discipline. With the Lockdown now, my goal is to be able to play again. Been looking for several tutorial videos online and came across this one. This is honestly the best! It's the most comprehensive one & more than that, you provide us with actual notes to download per session. I look forward to playing the piano again. My goal is to finish two of your videos and practice everyday, like taking actual piano lessons. Really can't thank you enough for this!
I played trumpet in the 3rd grade and the only thing I really remember about reading music was that the lines were Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge and as you said the spaces are FACE. Really enjoying these. Spending about a week on each lesson so far. Thank you.
I started with Lesson 1 exactly one week ago and I'm really digging these lessons. I'm motivated to the fullest. Eventually being able to play the songs I love in a year or two down the line feels doable to me at last. Thanks for your work.
Hi, Bill, HNY! I just got a keyboard for Christmas. I'm 65 and feel out of my mind trying to learn, but I've always wanted to play the piano and happened mention it to my husband YEARS AGO just in a general conversation of life's dreams and this year, he surprised me! Here we go! Thank you, this is my first day.
I have looked at many videos by others and never found anything that I could connect with then I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and I have learned so much already. Reading music never made any sense especially ledger lines and octaves. The way you explain it makes sense to me and I cannot tell you how grateful I am. I am recovering from major surgery so now is the perfect time for me to learn. Thank you so much Bill Hilton.
i have just learned more in the last 20 minutes than I have in my life. Thank you so much for your time and generosity for doing this for free. I am so excited about learning this. You, sir, are a legend. I am 67 and just starting to learn. I have, always, loved music but I have never been able to play an instrument. I am looking forward to the rest of the class
During Covid19 isolation I thought of using the time productively hence decided to learn piano and I started following Bill's lessons. And appreciate your teaching methods. Thank you.
I just started learning a few days ago, I am on only the second lesson! I have always been the most frustrated piano player! Always wanted to learn but was always intimidated by reading music, it might as well be chinese to me. I pray I don't loose heart and can make it through! Been wanting to play since childhood, now closer to 60! I will learn....I want to play just that much...thank you for these lessons!!!
You're welcome Michelle - I hope you continue to make good progress! And if you're close to 60, then you're still young compared to many of the learners I hear from, so stick at it!
Am new to this channel and completely new to piano as of a month ago. I was fortunate and got an acoustic piano for free. I started with piano note and simply piano and paid for both. I enjoyed simply piano until I started extremely having difficulty understanding the sheet music. You however have done An amazing job and humbled me even as I’m new and I’m going back to the basics of studying sheet music. I’ve been on this lesson for like a week and it amazes me that I didn’t know this as well as it thought or simply piano made me think. I’m looking forward to future lessons and ultimately play classical music with confidence.
That’s great to hear, Jarael - thanks for taking the time to say so! Let me know how you get on with the rest of course, and don’t hesitate to give me a yell if you have any questions or run into problems at any stage. Good luck! 👍
I'm picking up piano again in my mid 30s after having has lessons when I was 5-7 years old. I learned how to read sheet music back then and couldn't play very complicated stuff but I had music books for the first couple of grades and I could play all the songs in there from the sheet music relatively easily. Your explanation of EGBDF brought back so many memories and as soon as I saw it I said the phrase "Every Good Boy Deserves Food" and had a wave of nostalgia since that must have been the phase my piano teacher taught me back in the day to learn the treble clef. Amazing what your mind can remember and I'm finding myself picking things up that I haven't done in almost 30 years! Can't wait to follow along with the whole course and I hope I can get to be as good as I was when I was 7 years old again haha.
Good to hear! That's the amazing thing about stuff you learn at that age: it sticks at a very deep level. You'll probably find that you actually have a small advantage in terms of physical playing over an absolute beginner at the same age as you, purely because you did that early work. Good luck, let me know how you get on and don't hesitate to shout if you have any problems/questions!
I'm actually doing this, starting today. I have finished lesson one and now starting level three on lesson two. This is exactly what I was looking for, and now I will finally start actually learning piano instead of playing songs on mechanical muscle memory. Thank you for making this, I will be studying it each day. (I might even comment on my progress)
thank you so much. the gratitude i feel is beyond the words. i’m a songwriter but i only ever written songs on guitar. i think i’m ready for piano now. thank you from the bottom of my heart for these lessons!❤️
I was watching a woman speak about piano and how she was going to teach us in a couple of weeks how to learn and then when I found out it was five thousand bucks I was so disappointed but then I found your channel that you give the spreadsheets for free now so amazing relief and you can't believe how ready I am to start this piano lesson something that has been making me feel I don't have a talent but I feel like I'm ready now thank you very much sir. Every time I sat at the piano I just wanted to sit there without the music sheet and just play something beautiful but everytime I messed up I ended up pressing two keys at the same time or changing the music style I always wanted to hearing music and just produce it on the piano but I understand I have to go through a lot of processing a lot of time but with your channel it's so easy to explain that I just feels like you are talking with me in front of me thank you very much
I’m starting to learn the piano today, first, I had some difficulties while playing, and I wanted to give up. But I thought, “everyone was a beginner at first, and some probably had the same struggles as me.” And so, I wanted to keep pushing my love for music, and I didn’t want to give up on it. But because I don’t have the money for a piano teacher, I stumbled across this video. And honestly, it helped me a lot!! It will probably take time for me to get used to reading sheet music, but I’m determined to learn it. Music isn’t about competition, but it is a way of expressing yourself. Thanks for this tutorial, ur awesome! :D (sorry if my English is bad, it’s not my first language)
I just watched the first two lessons and I learned all the theory! before that, I watched a lot of beginners guide but didn't learn anything. You are great Bill and you deserve more likes and subscriptions
Ive just started piano lessons and Im 68. I still want an actual lesson fortnightly but this is so helpful, especially to watch and learn the theory since I need to learn to read music as well. You have a lovely voice and so easy to listen to .
Glad you like the tutorials, Hilary! You're actually quite young by the standards of some of my learners (!) so stick with it, and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
With all the tutorials available on the Internet I have just come across this by Bill Hilton. In my opinion it is by far the best I have seen. I am very much a "mature" beginner but am thoroughly enjoying the Lessons. Thank you so much, it is very much appreciated.
Wow, this is amazing! Have been looking online since acquiring a digital piano for Christmas and I finally hit the jackpot! I can't believe you haven't asked for my credit card details. Thank you so much for these valuable lessons, altruism still exists, I thought it was long dead and buried!
You're really welcome! One of the reasons I created the course was that I was so annoyed by all the "...buy my awesome piano course - learn to play like Art Tatum, Elton John and Liszt in less than 40 minutes! Just $384! ($573958 value!!)"-type ads. I should say it's not entirely altruistic, either: I get a good chunk of ad revenue from the course videos. Anyhow, good luck, and give me a shout if you run into any problems/have any questions at any stage.
PS you might find this useful if you haven't see it - basically a summary of the problems/challenges I've seen people work through as they've followed the course: ua-cam.com/video/rJwY4JEG9_Y/v-deo.html
Loving the lessons so far! It's been 3 days with a total of 3-5hrs of total time since I started learning and I'm impressed! I thought reading music was going to be difficult but you were able to make it easy. TY Sir!
You're my best teacher. I am done with lesson one and can play the 4 chords on my keyboard perfectly. Here am i to learn this lesson, though it's getting complicated. God bless you Sir 🙏
I’m very excited to start My journey learning piano , thank you very much for guiding me in this journey it’s been a 20 years since I first wanted to learn but have been to busy .
Ive just started the lessons and i love it. Got my grown up childs keyboard to learn the first lessons. When i feel i am making enough progress ill get a piano keyboard, thanks!
I have always found piano music to be so beautiful and had always wanted to learn how to play. Thank you for providing these easy to follow lessons and for spreading your love for music to others! I hope to finally be able to read sheet music and to be able to play my favorite instrument.
When I first tried the exercise I found it so difficult and I was going to just stop trying, but I really want to learn how to play so I continued trying and now it’s not too difficult at all and I’m glad I stuck with it!
Glad to hear it, Jessica - that's often the way things go in the early days of learning: you work and work and work at something and it seems impossible, then *ping* you just get it. If you need any help or have any questions at any stage, just give me a shout.
@@BillHilton Thanks Bill! I’m currently on lesson 6 but I always go back to previous lessons too. One thing I’m struggling on is reading the sheet music while playing at the same time, I usually just end up memorising what’s on the sheet and the fingering and then playing it, how do I improve on that? Thanks 🙏🏾
@@jessicamarie6448 You’re welcome! The short and boring answer to the sheet music thing is “just keep doing what you’re doing”. Everyone except the very best sightreaders (and I’m not one of those...) uses partial memorisation to some extent, so it’s not something to worry about. As you work on an increasing variety of music you’ll find that the amount you have to memorise gradually lessens. At this stage, though, it’s all about gritting your teeth, digging deep and pushing through stuff that (for now) seems tough. If you want some practice tips, you might find this tutorial useful: ua-cam.com/video/Xk9ozR2rPOQ/v-deo.html
I have been learning piano for over a year, there are lots of information I never knew about, yet used in so many events, these videos really help me, since in my country, music teaching isn't that good, Wouter Van Wijhe showed me your channel when I was having struggles practicing and trying to learn one of his covers. This really helped me and your breaking chords tutorials help me quite alot with my speed! I really am grateful for your videos, you've earned a new sub! Thank you so much, you really helped me quite alot!
Thanks very much indeed for the kind words and the sub - I'm glad to hear my stuff has been helpful. Stick at it, and I'm sure you'll continue to make great progress! :)
I am actually learning a piano course. Just started a month ago or so. I haven’t finished that course yet and I was searching for piano course which I will learn after I finish that. And I came across your channel from many recommendations. I’ll surely learn from you Sir. You’re doing a tremendous job for people like us who cannot pay 300 dollars or even 150 dollars💰for a course. Thank you sir. Lots of love from North East India🇮🇳
Really helping Bill ! I'm 51 and always wanted to play the Piano. And you are giving me the patience to do it. Great lessons. I'm just onto lesson 2 and loving the challenge. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Danny - glad it helps! 51 is at the young(ish) end of the spectrum for users of this series: I get a lot of messages from people twenty or thirty years older than you, so you're pretty much a spring chicken! Good luck, and let me know if you have any specific questions about anything. I always reply eventually...!
Just bought a piano yesterday, learned about your lessons from Reddit. I wanted to play piano ever since I've watched La La Land, my dream is to play the whole OST. I'm going to work hard to achieve my dream someday, thank you for your videos.
One thing I have noticed that helped me is how each note will alter from being on a line and then on a space in the next octave. The middle c is on a line under the staff, the next C is on a space in the staff, the next one is back on a line. The same is true for all notes. It's another hint to make it easier to remember where each note is. I recommend hitting the keys and imagining in your mind where it is on the staff. Keep doing this for every note again and again and eventually it will start to really settle in your head. I'm still a beginner but this has helped!
This is fantastic - I played violin for 6 years and could site read music decently, and even took a year of music theory in high school focusing on staff notation which I took to very well - but I'll be damned if I haven't lost most of my reading skills in the almost 10 years since. This is good for beginners to reading music but also as a refresher for someone who maybe knew it at some point and has since forgotten... I can peck out a tune with no problem but anything further is beyond me, so I'm glad to have this tool to finally learn how to use a piano in a way that is actually helpful! THANK YOU~
No problem at all - really glad to have been of help! Reading the feedback there have actually been quite a few people who have been using this as a refresher rather than as a from-scratch course, which is kind of pleasing, and just goes to show that you can never quite predict the many and varied uses people will find for stuff you put on UA-cam. I hope you continue to make good progress, and do give me a shout if you have any questions :)
About 1/4 - 1/2 way through the second lesson. I feel like I've so much already. Thankyou for taking the time to provide this learning material. You're a massive help 🙏🫡
You’re welcome, Oliver - keep on pushing! Experience says the people who finish the course successfully tend to be those who work hard on the basics in the first six lessons or so - there’s a lot of stuff that’s tempting to hurry over, but if you get it nailed it leaves you in a strong position for the tougher stuff in later lessons. Shout if you have any questions or stuff I can help with! 👍
Just over two weeks since I first started the keyboard and I’m fairly competent with this lesson. Been doing this lesson for about 10-12 days now. Going well and sounding better! Can’t believe I’m reading off sheet music! The one issue I am having is my keyboard has letters written on 3/4’s on it and I find myself looking at the letter instead of the key as such. But thank for the lessons, going to have a little look at three now! Have been doing 15-30 minutes daily. Thankyou!
Glad to hear you're making progress, Jon! 15-30 mins a day is absolutely ideal. As you get more confident, the trick is not to race ahead of yourself - you need a really firm foundation to build on, so taking 5-6 days to work on each lesson is a good idea. As you get deeper into the series you might want to extend that a little. Most people seem to find that things get more challenging from around Lesson 9 onwards, so at that point you maybe want to aim to be giving each lesson at least 7 days. Shout if you run into problems or need any help at any point, and good luck!

I've always wanted to learn to play my keyboard since asking for one for my birthday when I was like 15 and never really got round to it. Found this channel recently and it's been a complete godsend. Everything is very clearly explained thus far and is easy to understand for beginners like myself! 10/10 for content!
Man I'm glad that among so many tutorials available, I chose yours. Couldn't have found more easier tutorial than this. Thank you so much for taking your time and providing us with such great lessons. They're a great help. It's my first time learning any instrument ever and I didn't think that I would be able to understand stuff so early, but you made everything so simple and easy to follow. Thank you so much and keep up the great work. Really.
I have strugggled for a year trying to find tutorials I understood. Found yours today and oh my God, thank you SO MUCH! I wished I had found your channel sooner!
This is my first week with the piano and i'm really looking forward to learning from your videos. I'm sure that after i get comfortable with the lessons i'll be supporting your patreon because this kind of content is highly valuable on internet. Thanks for sharing this free course for beginners! Greetings from Argentina.
You're very welcome - greetings from North Yorkshire! Let me know how you get on, and give me a shout if you run into any problems or have any questions.
I just wanted to say, I have subscribed to your channel for a while. Practiced octaves, major scales, hand independence, etc.., But dreaded learning reading music sheets, and I must say that it isn't half as boring as I thought. Also the way you show takes the boringness out. I want to thank you for the time you put in this. I went to just wanting to play by eye to wanting to learn music from scratch in general, all because of you. You inspired me to go further into the music area alot more. Thank you again sir
Thank you for your tutorials. I took piano lessons many years ago and I stopped practicing, I don't remember anything of what I learned back then. I have to learn again 🫶. Soon I will upload videod of my progress 🙏.
You're very welcome! You’ll probably find that although you’re not conscious of remembering anything, many of the skills will come a little easier because of those early lessons. Good luck, get in touch if you have any questions, and yes indeed please do upload some videos of your playing and let me know - always happy to give feedback!
Glad it's helping, Carol - keep blasting away at it, and make sure you've really consolidated the basics into a good foundation before moving on (there's always a bit of a temptation to race through the lessons, which can make your get ahead of yourself, if you see what I mean.)
Was a player 15 years ago and then I just stopped playing. Bought a new instrument recently to restart the old hobby but OMG I did not remember a thing! Your video is super good , just to revive those knowledge except that I actually learned the notes not by alphabets but as do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti , therefore abit challenging now but i am sure i catch up with a little practice. Just wanted to say Good Job! Very nice tutorial :)
Ladan Mansouri one of the the things the brain does is usually work things out.. it is starting over but after a while things may come fairly quickly...
I play guitar from aathe age of 15 but I walyas wanted to get into music production, so I started with learning the piano...as a beginner...this series is a genius implementation! VERY WELL DONE!
Thank you very much! Yes, a lot of people who follow my tutorials are actually focussed on production but need to improve their piano/keyboard/reading/theory skills. Let me know how you get on with the rest of the course!
This lesson is bursting my mind with knowledge! Oh my God! With this lessons I can definitely work on my piano skills now. Thankyou for this lessons ❤❤❤
@@BillHilton I'm getting aneurysm, what thing in front of your head? "We're all about arresting"? Arresting who? What images? What does this all mean? D:
Im starting this series now on my plastic keyboard. Buying a Roland LX705 in a couple of weeks, so im prepping to be as good as possible until then. I plan to finish the whole course. Thanks Bill:)
I just got a new keyboard I have been wanting for years...and no disrespect to other creators, but your videos are the most helpful I have ever seen so far.
lesson two is a struggle to get it drilled in but i practice every day now for an hour i hope i eventually can progress passed this lesson. thank you for sharing these lessons i really feel it helps. unlike 90% of the other lessons who want to learn you parts of songs. as a motivation i bought a piano anthology from faber music and my goal is to eventually being able to play the music in there. this is that one step in the right direction so thank you very much.
You’re welcome! It sounds like you have an excellent attitude and level of commitment, so keep it up. The secret of success is actually pretty simple: just commit and keep going, challenging yourself consistently with your practice, and even when it feels like you’re making no progress at all, keep going, because the progress will come. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions, and please do let me know how you get on!
Thank you for the video! I used to play trombone when I was school and tried to learn piano but couldn't get passed the grind and had no direction, im super pumped for this course. Ive been working on the pdf for this lesson for the past few days and oh my goodness is it incredibly difficult. I feel like i can read the music okay and find the notes on the keyboard well but once im trying to do both all that knowledge goes out the window. I know if i just keep practicing this it will become second nature. Im really excited to learn piano so i can play the music i love. Thank you for encouraging me and giving me a sense of direction 😊
You're welcome, Elizabeth! You should find that your previous experience is a big help, but mostly in the early days it really is just a case of grinding through and nailing down skills that need to become second nature. Keep pushing through, and you'll be fine: lots of people have finished this course, and those that do are those who just keep working at it even when it seems progress is slow. You might find this recent video useful if you haven't seen it - ua-cam.com/video/rJwY4JEG9_Y/v-deo.html - it's basically an overview of the most common problems self-teaching piano players face, and it grew out of conversations I've had over the years with people who have been through this course. It covers most of the major stumbling blocks. If you run into any problems or have any questions at any stage, just give me a shout. Good luck!
Thanks Bill I've tinkered around with my piano for a long time now. This is going to make me take it seriously and really progress with it. Looking forward to the sessions.

Having another go at learning piano with your tutorials. Have had my keyboard for two years and made the mistake of trying to copy tutorials for specific songs I liked without really learning or practising basics. Had limited success but failed when songs became a little more difficult. This time I’m going to take my time and practise basics every day before moving to next lesson. I have a love of music and a ear for music but my 65 year old fingers couldn’t care less. Wish me luck.
Good luck! Yes, you've got the right idea: racing through the early lessons is one of the most common problems I see learners have. If you take the time to really master each lesson, you'll find that progress is much steadier. And don't worry about your age - you're a teenager compared to some of the people I hear from who use my tutorials!
Thanks for this music theory lesson Bill! My music teacher taught us this so many times (I wasn’t playing attention) and I couldn’t figure out where an “F” or a “A” is on the staff! Now I’ll take it more seriously that the spaces are FACE and the lines are EGBDF (Every good burger deserves fries!)
I'm about a week in, and I'm really surprised with the progress I've made so far thanks to these lessons. I love the structure of them, with layers of increasing difficulty. I recently discovered a love for music theory, and that made me want to learn how to play and, eventually, try and compose my own music (even though I have no clue where to start on that front). Thank you for putting these resources out here for free!
@@BillHilton Hey, I just wanted to follow up - I've been continuing on this part, and while I've nailed down levels 1 through 3 to the point where I feel confident that I could get down level 5 fairly easily, I've been having an absurd amount of trouble with level 4. Between having terrible aural skills and singing voice (making it difficult to compare the notes), it's taken the most time for the least progress. Do you have any advice, or is it just a matter of time?
Bill; For a very long time I’ve wanted to learn how to play the piano. I finally pulled the trigger on it and I am using ur videos for me to learn how. Thanks for the videos man 🤙🏽
Tomislav Fluhar yeah I'll never complain about free content, but I'm hoping part three is coming soon - the video says the first couple of weeks in January but we're nearly at the end of the month and I'm feeling like I'm stagnating in my learning with no new lesson
I just got a keyboard today for my birthday and I just want to thank you for making this helpful guide and publishing it for free! I literally just started the first lesson so we'll see how it goes but I'm really excited to learn :D Thank you Bill, best regards from Sweden!
i highly reccomend getting a metronome app for practicing this, so that you can count "in time" 4 beats per bar and first beat accented so that it can help you keep count and to also help make them ring for the proper length of a beat
Hi, just found you yesterday and I am so glad. Thank you for your efforts and being a wonderful teacher. You made it easier and more fun :) I am excited to start learning the piano. Thanks again :)
I took piano lessons in my 30’s made it to the 4th grade level and had a violent car accident at 40! I just got a 88 keyboard and it’s been almost 20 years now and I’m learning. But I’ve learned one thing about learning is to have a good teacher! I’m sure that I finally have one ☝️here
Am blown away by your generosity. The content of your free work here is THE most detailed work ever. Thank you SO much for such investment into people.
You're welcome, Eloho - glad you've found it useful!
words like this are priceless and I believe many of us feel the same. Believe it or not one day God will help you along the way Bill. Please keep doing great things for mankind.
Simply incredible , Bill . The efforts you have put into and the gracious sharing of knowledge is indeed praiseworthy ! Amazing .. God bless you ! I am enjoying learning
I was just thinking that we getting this for FREE!!!
@@BillHilton 👍
this was made 6 years ago and he is still answering people. what a chad
You're welcome 🤣
I just found his channel and I could learn soo much but I only have a mini keyboard that I bought for my son 20 years ago and there is no middle C. 😂. I've wanted always wanted to learn😂
I'm still alive:D
Congrats @@TheKrabcake
LMAO REAL
We live in an amazing time where you can go on the internet and learn whatever skill you want for free from people who know what they’re doing, I remember when that wasn’t possible. Thanks bill
Me too Jonathon - imagine if we'd had this when we were kids! You're welcome!
You're the best teacher I've seen. Doing Little boring things again and again make huge difference while learning something new.
You're very welcome - thanks for the kind words!
I sometimes take a little while to reply (I get a lot of messages...) but I always will in the end!
that is really cool. I hope you are still playing Martha!!
I hope your learning is going well. I'm just starting! Amazing videos.
i think i’m gonna do a lesson a week or so, i love that you can do it at your pace. Such wonderful info you’ve provided us…. I can’t believe it’s free! you’re a gem!!
You’re welcome, and thanks for the kind words - let me know how you get on!
You're very welcome, Diego - I hope you keep making progress. Don't hesitate to give me a shout if you have any questions!
What a generous contribution Bill… your content and teaching style is first class… my granddaughter and I love learning together 🙏
Thank you, Gurjeet - both of you are very welcome!
Thanks very much indeed, Angel! Let me know if you run into any problems or have any questions, and I'll do my best to help!
Good to hear Linda, and Happy New Year to you too! Good luck, and let me know if you run into any snags/have any questions at any point!
Thank you so much for these vids. 47 yrs old and just started learning to play, because a friend gifted our family an extra piano they had.
That's really good to hear, Patrick, thank you! Good luck with the course, and don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions/problems!
These lessons are honestly heaven sent. I can't thank you enough.
No problem at all - really glad you like them!
During Covid19 isolation I thought of using the time productively hence decided to learn piano and I started following Bill's lessons. And appreciate your teaching methods. Thank you.
Thank you, Syed, and I'm glad you like it. I think a lot of people are using the time to learn piano. Give me a shout if you have any questions!
😂😂 me too , good luck with it Syed
@@johndevonport358 me too haha
Doing the same myself, thank you Bill for making this free for everyone!
Me too
I just started learning a few days ago, I am on only the second lesson!
You're welcome - let me know how you get on, and shout if you run into any problems or have questions. Good luck!
thank you so much. the gratitude i feel is beyond the words. i’m a songwriter but i only ever written songs on guitar. i think i’m ready for piano now. thank you from the bottom of my heart for these lessons!❤️
These are by-far the best Piano beginner lessons I have found on UA-cam - Many thanks indeed for all your hard work!
Every time I sat at the piano I just wanted to sit there without the music sheet and just play something beautiful but everytime I messed up I ended up pressing two keys at the same time or changing the music style I always wanted to hearing music and just produce it on the piano but I understand I have to go through a lot of processing a lot of time but with your channel it's so easy to explain that I just feels like you are talking with me in front of me thank you very much
You're welcome - keep practising, give me a shout if you need any guidance, and just keep pushing on!
almost gave up ,but then remembered you saying "Little is often best"so im here again taking one step a time
hey how did it go ?
Nice🎉
I just watched the first two lessons and I learned all the theory! before that, I watched a lot of beginners guide but didn't learn anything. You are great Bill and you deserve more likes and subscriptions
Thanks Amir - glad you found them useful. I hope you keep watching! Give me a shout if you have any questions :)
“the message with piano practice: embrace the difficulty”, great Bill! Kind regards.
You're welcome, Pedro! And to you!
Wow! the greatest teacher of them all 👏👏👏
Thanks very much for the kind words! I really hope you find the course useful!
im 46 and started to learn with no experience in music at all. thank you for your hard work xx
You're welcome! Good luck with the course and let me know how you get on!
"challenging your mind is the way of learning"
Thanks so much, pleased im not the only one who gets irritated by those ridiculous promises😏
Loving the lessons so far! It's been 3 days with a total of 3-5hrs of total time since I started learning and I'm impressed! I thought reading music was going to be difficult but you were able to make it easy. TY Sir!
You're welcome! Let me know how you get on with the rest of the course, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions/problems!
After playing the piano for years without learning to read music this tutorial has helped me so much. Deffo worth giving a sub.
Thank you - really glad you like it! :)
Wonderful watching from Kenya proud of you the way you explain
Thank you - I hope you find it helpful!
You're my best teacher. I am done with lesson one and can play the 4 chords on my keyboard perfectly. Here am i to learn this lesson, though it's getting complicated.
God bless you Sir 🙏
I’m very excited to start
My journey learning piano , thank you very much for guiding me in this journey it’s been a 20 years since I first wanted to learn but have been to busy .
Good luck, let me know how you get on, and shout if you run into problems/have any questions!
Ive just started the lessons and i love it. Got my grown up childs keyboard to learn the first lessons. When i feel i am making enough progress ill get a piano keyboard, thanks!
These tutorials have been way more helpful than anything else I have seen
Thanks Pentguin - glad to hear it! If you ever have any questions about any of the stuff in them, give me a yell!
I have always found piano music to be so beautiful and had always wanted to learn how to play. Thank you for providing these easy to follow lessons and for spreading your love for music to others!
I hope to finally be able to read sheet music and to be able to play my favorite instrument.
Thank you very much Bill Hilton! I am a beginner and it's only you who is helping me right now :) you deserve way more likes and subs
Thank you - glad to hear you're finding my stuff useful! :)
I was searching for some teacher of piano but I know one, and now I've a good teacher, thanks for good lesson...
I cant believe im just now learning how to read sheet music, and not only that im excited about it! Thank you kind sir
You're really welcome!
Bill Hilton ❤❤❤❤
You’re welcome! Let me know how you get on, and shout if you run into any problems/have questions!

Thanks Brandon - really glad to have helped!
Really.

This is my first week with the piano and i'm really looking forward to learning from your videos. I'm sure that after i get comfortable with the lessons i'll be supporting your patreon because this kind of content is highly valuable on internet. Thanks for sharing this free course for beginners! You're very welcome - greetings from North Yorkshire! Let me know how you get on, and give me a shout if you run into any problems or have any questions.
I just wanted to say, I have subscribed to your channel for a while.
Practiced octaves, major scales, hand independence, etc..,
But dreaded learning reading music sheets, and I must say that it isn't half as boring as I thought. Also the way you show takes the boringness out.
I want to thank you for the time you put in this.
I went to just wanting to play by eye to wanting to learn music from scratch in general, all because of you. You inspired me to go further into the music area alot more.
Thank you again sir
That's marvellous to hear - thanks very much indeed!
Bill Hilton
You're welcome., your time is very much appreciated.
I was just watching your videos again
Thank you for your tutorials. I took piano lessons many years ago and I stopped practicing, I don't remember anything of what I learned back then. I have to learn again 🫶. Soon I will upload videod of my progress 🙏.
You're very welcome! You’ll probably find that although you’re not conscious of remembering anything, many of the skills will come a little easier because of those early lessons. Good luck, get in touch if you have any questions, and yes indeed please do upload some videos of your playing and let me know - always happy to give feedback!
Brilliant Bill. Have learnt so much in one night. Practice it is. Thank you.
Glad it's helping, Carol - keep blasting away at it, and make sure you've really consolidated the basics into a good foundation before moving on (there's always a bit of a temptation to race through the lessons, which can make your get ahead of yourself, if you see what I mean.)
Hello, I want to say, thank you for teaching me, this is just what I needed. I do not have the money for lessons, you are the best.
You're really welcome - give me a yell if you have any questions!
Thanks Ladan - you'll probably find that quite a lot of knowledge gradually comes back. Keep working away, and good luck! :)
You’re really welcome! Let me know how you get on!
The thing on the front of your head. Brilliant. Strong work!
We’re all about arresting, and indeed anatomically precise, images around here Tom
@@BillHilton I'm getting aneurysm, what thing in front of your head? "We're all about arresting"? Arresting who? What images? What does this all mean? D:
I have been wanting to learn piano for a while. And these lessons really help!
Glad to hear it Kaycie - shout if you have any questions!
Thanks so much!
Im starting this series now on my plastic keyboard. Buying a Roland LX705 in a couple of weeks, so im prepping to be as good as possible until then. I plan to finish the whole course. Thanks Bill:)
You’re welcome, and good luck. Let me know how you get on!
You are the most sincere teacher I've seen. You really want to help. thanks
Thank you very much for saying so!
I absolutely agree
I just got a new keyboard I have been wanting for years...and no disrespect to other creators, but your videos are the most helpful I have ever seen so far.
Thanks Omar - glad you like them. Good luck, and give me a shout if you have any questions!
Thank you Bill. Your tutorials are amazing. I am using your videos to learn for myself and for my 1st grader. Thank you for you Nobel service.
You're welcome - shout if you have any questions!
lesson two is a struggle to get it drilled in but i practice every day now for an hour i hope i eventually can progress passed this lesson. thank you for sharing these lessons i really feel it helps. unlike 90% of the other lessons who want to learn you parts of songs. as a motivation i bought a piano anthology from faber music and my goal is to eventually being able to play the music in there. this is that one step in the right direction so thank you very much.
You’re welcome! It sounds like you have an excellent attitude and level of commitment, so keep it up. The secret of success is actually pretty simple: just commit and keep going, challenging yourself consistently with your practice, and even when it feels like you’re making no progress at all, keep going, because the progress will come. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions, and please do let me know how you get on!
if i see one more piano ad im going to loose my mind
for real
Haha i sometimes think if i hate piano ads would i be able to play piano for long
You guys gotta just pay for youtube. Its like netflixs
Means?
Facts 😂
Good to hear it, Phil - that's certainly the aim!
@@BillHilton Hi! I cannot find where I download the piano sheet. Please help. Thanks!
@@PaulineRainville-z6c Hi Pauline - sorry to hear that! Are you able to access the webpage at www.billspianopages.com/beginners ? All the PDFs are linked from there. Thank you so much, Bill! You are so awesomeee :) I played piano in my youth but for years a left it untouched, I decided to come back with your teaching, and it feels great! "challenging your mind is the way of learning"
Thank you, and you're welcome! Let me know how you get on with the course, and give me a shout if you have any questions/problems!

IT'S SO EASY TO LEARN WITH YOU, THX A LOT FOR YOUR VIDEO. I'M LEARNING MORE WITH YOUR VIDEO
CRYING. This channel is a heaven. ♡
You're welcome! I think the very earliest treble clef mnemonic I learned was Every Green Bus Drives Fast, when I was about six...!
When it comes to piano lessons you're the best.
Thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
I played clarinet for 4 years and ukulele for 2 years so i am trained in reading sheet music lol but this still helped a lot
Glad you like it, Kelsie - those other instrumental skills will really help!
You're really welcome - I hope you continue to enjoy the series, and do give me a shout if you get stuck/need help!
Do you have any advice, or is it just a matter of time?
thanks for those lessons. Very clever way of explaining those. I hope many beginners are able to get started watching these lessons
Bill;
For a very long time I’ve wanted to learn how to play the piano. I finally pulled the trigger on it and I am using ur videos for me to learn how. Thanks for the videos man 🤙🏽
No problem Chris - glad they're helping!
Part 3 Please ! Thank you Sir for all this amazing tutorials !!!
Tomislav Fluhar yeah I'll never complain about free content, but I'm hoping part three is coming soon - the video says the first couple of weeks in January but we're nearly at the end of the month and I'm feeling like I'm stagnating in my learning with no new lesson
It's live now! Sorry about the delay - everyone in the Hilton household has had this year's winter flu bug, so I'm a bit behind in the schedule...!
I just got a keyboard today for my birthday and I just want to thank you for making this helpful guide and publishing it for free! I literally just started the first lesson so we'll see how it goes but I'm really excited to learn :D
Thank you Bill, best regards from Sweden!
i highly reccomend getting a metronome app for practicing this, so that you can count "in time" 4 beats per bar and first beat accented so that it can help you keep count and to also help make them ring for the proper length of a beat
@@user-vv1do1wg1j Way ahead of ya, already got one 😁 Thanks for the tip though!
Happy belated birthday, and you're welcome! Regards in turn from North Yorkshire, good luck, and let me know how you get on!
The corona virus has put me on this learning table. I hope I'll learn something. No doubt the tutorials are excellent and I love it. Thanks Bill
No problem, Harry - really glad you're finding my stuff useful. Shout if you have any questions!
listening to this awesome man named Bill is just to nice and idk but it helps me understand when listening
I’m sure that I finally have one ☝️here
Absolutely love your tutorials. Thank you so much!
