I love it, my cousin had an 87 SS with about 300-350 hp which he lost in his divorce I always wanted to see him with another but he has passed on now. RIP Darryl :(
I remember when that body style first came out in 86 or 87, getting old so memory issues. I graduated in 89 and wanted one of those cars. Favorite was the maroon color. Great looking cars. Thanks for the trip down memory road, even if it is a little bumpy.
When I was in high school I would dream about having a Monte SS. Never happened. 25 years later I skipped to owning Corvettes. Hope all is well Kevin, take care. -Glen
Man I love all the G bodies. Don't know what it is but all the variations look good. So easy to customize too. A guy on my street has a Beautiful Olds Cutlass. He covers it every night. If he ever puts it up for sale I would love to buy it.
William Henry Pratt have no words. Grew up with the 71 454 Ss. That was a performance car. Not a 305. Had the 72 402 custom and that was not bad either, damn fast car.
@@bobforpples And the muscle cars of the 60's are dogs today compared to today's Hellcats, special edition Camaro,Mustangs. What's your point? Gotta compare apples to apples. For the time, they ran good. Only thing faster that was in the same class was the Grand National.
I love those cars. I have a beautiful black 87, non Aerocoupe with 40k miles. They scream NASCAR look of the mid to late 80s. Great car for an Earnhardt fan too. IN 1987 Sr won 13 races in his 87 SS. Pass in the grass!
Graduated in ‘86, owned a Factory 4 Speed Calais out of Canada, pulling the 305 Chev and Saginaw for a ‘69 396 & M21, moving the tunnel back 4” AND was able to fit the donor Chevelle SS 396 12 Bolt in, just a little wider, but was still able to fit the factory Cutlass wheels. This was easily my favorite Car, even over the ‘70 SS 454 I restored and sold, (purring a whopping 75 miles on before being sold at Carlisle). Of course my dream car in High School was either a Monte Carlo SS , (knowing and buying ALL of the GM parts to switch it, but never happening) or the Yellow IROC Z, like the poster on my wall, (wonder if Roger Ausley still has the one he bought new;-) !
That's one very awesome car now I always thought they were cool though under powered. The owner of this car should have lots of fun now with the power under the hood.
i almost bought an 86 monte carlo ss maroon t tops and something i didnt know was rare it was an aero model . sadly on the way to my house to give the owner a check and get my first car it caught fire he pulled it off the road into a gas station that was closed for the night. i grabbed my cd player and bag and got out thinking it was just smoking. next thing we knew it was fully engulfed 10 feet from gas pumps and a payphone 30 feet from us . called 911 firetrucks arrived put the fire out car was a total loss and insurance wouldnt cover it because he took the air cleaner off and ran it without the hat . filling the engine compartment with fuel vapors from a non firing cyl .he ended up selling it to someone to be parted out because the t tops were undamaged
For the record were the computer is happens to be were the Factory Computer was located,This is not a original idea but nice car love the missing high beams.
I looked at these brand new 18k silver black stripe silver interior awesome looking car never fast but very comfortable car on the highway for a long trip the interior on this one looks bad gauges on the roof ? Lol big car theres room below dumb move.
Why Chevy only put a 305 in these is beyond me, especially when the Grand Nationals were beating Corvettes of the day. I had a 85’ SS and still regret the day I let her go.
The car is not for sale, but if you are asking about upgrades, contact us at the shop to chat about what you would like. www.v8speedshop.com/contact . Thanks!
I don't think the engineers are to blame, more like the new emissions and fuel economy regulations that came into play. The engineers had to learn how to make clean power, and they sure did!
I love it, my cousin had an 87 SS with about 300-350 hp which he lost in his divorce I always wanted to see him with another but he has passed on now. RIP Darryl :(
That’s why you don’t get married.
My first car was a silver T-top 87 Monte SS. God I miss that car.
What did you spend on it, Im totally looking for one
The '87 Monte Carlo SS will always be one of my classic dream cars. This one's a beauty, and a performer.
I dig the modern up dates while keeping the stock appearance!
I love this video im still rolling with my 305 only 86,000 miles
Beautiful car. I've had 4 Monte Carlos.. 73..81..85..2001...but none as nice as this one.
I love these cars. I have an an 85 Monte Carlo ss. It still has the 305 but it runs and drives excellent!
quadrajet king wanna sell it
I love cars of that era. I have two 1980 Trans Ams and a 1999 Trans Am.
I really really want one. If I retire from navy I hope I can get my self one for 20 years of service. Only five more years left.
Sweet, I had a 84 z28 black, t-tops 305 H.O. 190 hp in 91 my senior year high school!
I have a '76 Monte Carlo and an '86 Grand Prix. The Monte is my summer cruiser and the GP is my driver.

I have a 84 BLK Monte Carlo, she's cammed up flow masters duel exhaust, lowered, rims, she's getting a lot of attention 🤘
Everyday I battle with getting another one. This just helped me win the war. I’m getting one. Last one was stolen, had the same engine but was white
Go for it!
What a gorgeous example of the Monte Carlo SS. Almost the exact color of one I would have chosen back in the day. Thanks for sharing!
88 Monte SS here. Mostly stock, but just as beautiful as this one. No T tops tho... Same colors.
Love the air intakes next to each headlight. Very subtle with the hood closed. So cool!
Kind of redundant having cold air intake with a open top air filter.....
My favorite car from the 80's. Beautiful ride man.
When I was in high school I would dream about having a Monte SS. Never happened. 25 years later I skipped to owning Corvettes. Hope all is well Kevin, take care. -Glen
I had a 1986 Monte Carlo SS. I miss that car.
I bought a 85 Monte Carlo SS brand new. Miss that car as well

Love the Monte Carlo SS!!! I am currently working on a '66 slant 6 Dart I bought for $50.
It is worth it. Maybe not to you, but it is to me.
@@adenzien The slant 6 was a good engine.
I think these cars were cool even with the 305.
I remember them when they were brand new.

They were dogs, even in the 80's.
bobforpples yep, you right. From 74 to 84 wasn't much. Good look'n but not much run'n.
@@bobforpples i just put true duals on mine , and that woke it the hell up

Love the Monte SS, thanks.
I miss my 88 Camaro, but luckily I still have my 84 Chevy C10.
That era of Monte carlo SS were cool .nothing like cruising in one and banging to some Judas priest
Very beautifull this Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 1988. Pretty, furious and sexy car
Best looking cars ever too!
Beautiful ride 👍
That's one very awesome car now I always thought they were cool though under powered. The owner of this car should have lots of fun now with the power under the hood.
My first car was a 1970 Monte Carlo!
Sure is smooth and quiet for 500hp.
A nice car for cruising around in.
I like the AC too..
Was that 200 hp, no tire smoke?.
Nice example and love the music list you use to listen to👍😊
Thank you for giving this Monte Carlo the power it deserves. Classic throw back looks, and modern power. Well done!
Nice
Beautiful clean car 🇺🇸👍🏻

80's big hair bands are still cool....

They appear to have their own block, this one has the name cast in it as well. Thanks!

Can't be original paint every GM car from that era had pealing clear.
Ruthless Reid how can’t it be original paint ? What if it was stored inside ? What a stupid comment lol

Yeah T-tops are overrated.
Those poor skinny tires.

Only Option It's Missing Is the NASCAR Back Window
performance cars in the 80s were trash. so slow. the engineers cant be happy with themselves when they look back.

Engine looks like an oldsmobile instead of a chevy with that air cleaner very ugly.
Man, I thought we were gonna get a burnout at the end...
