- We research the dividend companies further by looking at their future prospects. We look at dividend growth, price growth, and look at the chart to see what growth the company has had in the past and currently.
After you have a list of companies you are interested in, I'll show you what I look for to narrow down which one I'll buy. (And I actually do buy into a new company in this video).

Great video. Similar to my strategy; I actually list the 1, 3 and 5 year EPS & DPS growth and include payout ratios (under 80%) in my spreadsheet, as well as Current Ratio (to measure debt). By using numerical figures I can better sort companies more easily than yes/no's can. I actually do this programmatically as it's painful to do manually. Also agree that I need to understand a company before investing; I try to understand what risks they have first.
These are exactly what I listed too! I also look at the substantial shareholders too see if what the insiders are doing recently in case
