Giving this video a thumbs up does not do it justice... It is editing with a purpose, a direction, a thought process and it is great! You are so very good at passing on your knowledge, thank you very much for that!
Bought your "Essential Photoshop for Landscape Photographers" Course a few years ago and loved it, but I'm still learning a lot from every single video you upload here on youtube. Amazing work man, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! Greetings from Germany
Awesome Nick - Amazing how much Photoshop & Lightroom has changed in the past year!! - Very much miss your regular UA-cam content updates and very much looking forward to the Oregon Coast in November 👍
You are always providing such deep and rich content without all the UA-cam sales pitches. Probably the reason your channel is one of my favorite UA-cam photography channels. Keep up the amazing work 👍
Thank you for taking your time and knowledge and sharing it freely. Getting acquainted with one of the best in a beautiful image is rewarding. Thank you
Brilliant video Nick! This was such a great example with so many techniques. I really appreciate how clearly both the strategy and steps were explained. This is also a nice example of modern digital photography. Cases like this where you are collecting data more than taking a photo. When know what you can do with editing, it impacts how and what images to collect in the field. This was my 3rd time watching this. Keep these coming please!
Nick. Beautiful shot, amazing processing. I hope I live another 80 years to learn a portion of your ADOBE skills. Love watching you work! Hot Chocolate shots rule!
Great work and clarity with your explanations. Thanks a lot and for a retired tabletop commercial photographer this is a great tutorial on nature photography. Two thumbs up
I have been doing PS since the mid 90's and I am still learning. I enjoyed this one very much and also learned some things from it. I love your processing videos and also the location ones. Very nice work Nick. I have been a subscriber of yours for yrs.
Fantastic Nick. Obviously, I'm a little late to the party on this one, but this is almost like a Photoshop for Landscape Photographers mini-course. So many useful techniques. Thank you for sharing!
I want to like this 1000 times! You gave me hope to revisit an old panorama photo. It was actually near that exact spot in this video at Palouse falls! It was too distorted for me to use and I had a lot of missing areas in the corners. Your video literally addressed how to fix all of these problems. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques for everyone to learn from. I'm actually excited to go back and fix it!
Beautiful image and very informative video! I historically have 'avoided' Photoshop and instead did most of my editing using only Lightroom. This video will change that. Thanks!
Well done, Nick! Something I always love about your post processing videos is that you articulate what you're thinking/noticing as you go. It really helps to provide some "why" context to the "how." Even when I know how to do the technique you're using, I still get value out of understanding why YOU chose to use that technique.
Nick your editing is superb!! Great video. For me I get the layers, masks etc it’s knowing when and how much or in some cases how little to use them. This was spot on. Looking forward to the next video
That was a special one Nick, thank you. Visited Palouse Falls (from NH) last May. It is a wonderful place. I will keep working my pano of this overtime myself.
Very nice! Yes, so helpful to watch and hear you explain, you do it so well. I know a lot of this procedure, but I just can't get enough affirmation from my own side, lol, and it's great to see someone else go through the process. thanks so much Nick.....
A great video and one that clearly shows I have such a long way to go in learning the programs... That said your presentation is easy and concise to follow what is a difficult subject to show across social media. In my old training days we had a the three principle where it took that hands on approach and three times before anything sunk in and became 'easier'. (tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you just told them). The benefit of video is that as a reference to the second and third part of the three it is always available. What made this is that while many will go "how did you do that again" the presentation is easy to listen to and easy to follow even if the actual process may not be and that is where you have it in spades... In a recent request you asked about content and this is a good follow up vid because it offers information, tips, a challenge to us all all wrapped into a friendly no fuss approach. OK so not outside and when ready I am sure that too shall follow with some epic content too. The other lesson I take is to look at life differently and experience and enjoy all I do and that is priceless. One request. Maybe sometime can you explain/show the editing equip you have on the desk (very short vid maybe? ) I have a desktop that runs Lightroom/Photoshop among other programs and you have tablets, pads, buttons, sliders etc etc.... Cheers from downunder...
An incredible amount of work went into this redo. Really appreciate you taking the time to go into so much detail on your thought process and how you reworked this image. Thank you.
The combination of the on-location videos where you talk about your process for taking the photos and the Photoshop videos where you take those images and exploit the decisions you made in camera are so incredibly insightful and informative. Thanks for all you do to help beginners like me take better photos and actually understand WHY they are better photos.
What a fantastic video. Excellent walkthrough and explanation of your thought process. An “AHA” moment I had watching your excellent video was shooting a panorama from the brightest point and outward, as well as stopping to analyze what a photo needs. I do this naturally, but it’s more instinctual, rather than intentional, so stopping to analyze really helps me hone in more meaningful editing. Couple things come to mind: 1. Leveling my tripod exactly before shooting will minimize post editing transformation. 2. It is my understanding that leaving sharpening to the last steps of editing is best to reduce artifacts, especially if you are printing large. Yet you sharpen your foreground earlier in your process….I’m going to try this moving forward. Nick- your work and teaching style is fantastic. Thanks!
Thank you Nick. Very informative tutorial, I do take bracketed landscape shots that I merge, those tips particularly warping and content aware fill will definitely be very helpful. Looking forward to your next tutorials.
Fantastic tutorial Nick! I always learn so much when you step through your landscape photo editing process. This is one that I will watch over and over, a true master class! 👍
Damn Nick. You said you only wanted to post videos when you had something to say. Well, you hit your goal with this one! That was a fantastic tutorial. Thanks for the time you put into it.
This is so different from how I process panoramas. You have a lot of good tips and a well considered thought process behind your editing. I will be trying these out on some photos that I have been stumped on how to finish. Thanks for sharing!
love your tutorials, Nick. You have a great way of making it all make sense. Thinking of what old photos I have that should be reprocessed and played with as practice.
I'm pausing this video midstream to comment: I have a photo from the Grand Canyon I took in 2018 that, while a single exposure, has all the same issues that your HDR pano does. An epic sky, a valley in shadow that has little contrast, and a slightly blown-out part of the sky along the right edge of the horizon from the sun (rising, in my case). I've struggled to process it for years, and only after buying your Photoshop course a few years ago have I gotten even a decent result. I now see even more possibilities for it. Painting a little color into the blown-out sky never even occurred to me. Back to the drawing board! 😁
Nice to see Palouse Falls again. A friend. and I were flying above it in a Cessna 150, when he asked Walla Walla tower for a speed check. The ATC came back with "just barely". I will see the rest of the video in a little bit. It's certainly nice to see the falls when there is significant water running.
Epic location and sky indeed. Loved the Gaussian Blur effect + the luminosity mask. Great tip! I use TK8 for the very basic but luminosity masks are such a powerful tool in the arsenal. So many possibilities. Thanks for sharing the full edit. Gorgeous image!

Too funny. Just saw this video landed, and this morning I got a “7 years ago today” Facebook memory of my visit to Palouse Falls. Trippy.
Thanks Nick! I always look forward to your processing videos.

Thanks Nick So good. So many ideas. Great tutorial.
Great tutorial Nick. Very well explained
The dual processing really helped me out of some frustrating results with HDR. Learned a lot from this. Thanks for passing on your knowledge.
