When my mum was in her late 20s her friends recently (at the time) ex boyfriend got in touch with mum asking her if he could meet up with her for a chat about getting back with his girlfriend, saying he wanted to explain things to her and see if she could help. My mum thought it was strange but he talked her round and said he'd buy her her dinner and they went outside a pub for a chat. He was acting strange, hardly talking about it and just bought her a bag of crisps then they got in his car and he ended up getting chased by the police for speeding. He pulled into a lay by and said to my mum "this is the best bit" as the panda car went past and didn't see him. It was in the 70s before they had souped up fast police cars. After this he got out of the car and pulled my mum out and threw her on the floor damaging her back. My mum said "please don't hurt me" and he said "Why what makes you think I want to hurt you" he had problems with erected dysfunction and got on top of her and rubbed him against her stomach and did it that way. My mum said all she could think about was myself and my sister and worried she'd never see us again. She didn't report it to the police. And didn't tell me about it for 35 years. I don't know if he's still alive but he'd be in his eighties now. It's probably best she didn't tell me because I don't know what I would have done if I'd found him. She kept that to herself all those years. She died 2 years ago of cancer. What a horrible man, he was tricked her then did that to her. What an animal. His name is Jim Cowey he was from Salford, probably dead now.
Deryk Cox was murdered by Brian Lawrence, who had an affair with a married woman who was a friend of Deryk's and killed him out of jealousy after the affair ended. He also tried to hire a hitman to kill the woman's husband and another friend of hers, but the hitman was actually an undercover policeman. He was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 21 years - if he is still alive (he would be 82 now) he will be eligible to apply for parole in 2026.
