Battlefield and The Finals Had a Baby! | Combat Champions

- If you enjoy The Finals and you enjoy Battlefield, this is either a strange abomination or your next favorite game.
I was accepted into the playtest this weekend for Combat Champions, and...I've got some thoughts about it.

The term "by ex-DICE developers" is slapped onto so many titles as an accolade of sorts, to try to draw interest. Does that term really mean anything anymore to you, or has it just become an overused label we all ignore?
Personally, I don't really put much stock in it anymore, other than to think every once in awhile that DICE/EA's employment practices seem to create an astounding turnover rate. 😭
Doesn't look too good, I'll stick with The Finals. It looks like they tried to put battlefield and the finals together and didn't polish it, it's just mimicking both
Jackfrags talked about playing in March 2022, was the Finals around to be mimicked at that time?
Im gonna list all the games made/being developed by "ex DICE developers" because the amount of devs is just insane
1. THE FINALS - Embark Studios, 3v3v3 team orientated gameplay with destruction with a Mirrors Edge - inspired artsyle and a gameshow theme.
2. Combat Champions - C77 Entertainment, Fast-ish paced arcade shooter with maps, destruction and gamemodes similar to battlefield but with a gameshow theme similar to THE FINALS.
3. ALARA Prime - Fall Damage, 4v4v4 tactical shooter similar to CSGO, VALORANT etc. Has a similar artstyle to VALORANT too in my opinion.
4. ??? - TTK Games, Battlefield - esque FPS game with large maps, destruction and is being developed on UE4.
(Theyre's probably more out there but these are the ones I know of.)
I feel like this whole "ex DICE devs" shtick is gonna wear out fast with all these new studios and games being made. It was cool with THE FINALS since they were the first to do it so it felt unique; but now it feels like every studio is going along with this slogan now.

As someone who isnt into shooters, this game doesnt look like it would be interesting to me, when compared to the finals.
Every time I see one of your videos I forget that you don't have millions of subscribers. Your quality, dialogue, and ideas show a lot of potential. I'm sure you'll go places!

This game doesn't bring anything unique to the genre, they just tried to mix Battlefield and Finals like you said
The gaming experience is disappointing,the animation is stiff and the ui looks terrible,i don’t wanna say it ,but when I first entered this game,i thought it was a browser game:/

I'm reminded of what you said about how destruction seems absent compared to The Finals. CC kinda looks like quirky Battlefield while The Finals plays completely differently, with movement and destruction.

i kinda hate when people refer as "battlefield" like game but... the MAIN QUIRK of battlefield since the first game and since ever was
VEHICLES AND COMBINED ARMS COMBAT
not the classes (introduced in 2142)
not the destruction (introduced in Bad company)
not the revive and squad gameplay (introduced in Battlefield 2)

If they changed the art style and made it more like a gritty military FPS and more similar to Battlefield I would be hyped.
It feels like every game these days has a goofy art style & setting.
The thing is the classes look more like soldiers than 2042 apart from the blue/red color scheme. The weapon models look great too but they suffer from the same problem with the blue/red colors.
If they have a free beta or something I'll try it
Gunplay and TTK felt nice, not the biggest fan of the Arcady look but if the gunplay and ttk are there I'll still hammer down some hours!
The whole gameshow theme is kinda meh, but can totally work if done right I guess, It almost reminds me of when you where a kid playing with green army men, think it would work better if the "lore" is that you are a kid playing with toy soldiers, would be easier to let things slide like jumppacks etc, and some of the maps felt like you already where shrunken down on a cardboard game, gave me some type of nostalgia feeling of de_rats map from cs 1.6.
Will be interesting to see how it all plays out
The announcers are voice actors, not AI like in The Finals

I played this game, it felt a bit blocky but that’s understandable as they are in their developmental stage.
I did had trouble finding lobbies and found that the matches finished early
I ran into this issue too and had trouble getting a recording because of it. I discovered that if you stay in the match after it finishes, it’ll put you into a brand new game.
@@nobleshmoble That is exactly the same issue i got into as well. The game has potential for sure and is fun to play but a new BF game alike would actually be awesome!
The gameplay and mechanics are good, it need some polish here and there but it's a beta and they can fix it, what's needs to change it's the aesthetics and setting of the game from gameshow to war between Companies and mega corporations imagine how cool that would be.
This game was fun(ish) and has a lot of problems that needs ironing out but it's devs are pretty terrible at taking criticism, they hate the comparison it gets to THE FINALS (which frankly i dont see and also don't see it being a competition to it, different games), but they also have said people to stay away from their game if they have any negative criticism or in some cases to touch grass and usually endorses it's communtiy to shit on people that do generally not like somwthing about their game. Worst part is that its an alpha test where the most you get out is from listening to the players that are trying out your game.
That’s so disappointing to hear, honestly. Community is the heart of any game, and alienating theirs will cost them.

It looks like if you asked AI to make a game and told it to be the most bland/basic game. Hard pass unless they completely change the artstyle and theme
