- Ah, yes. The ominous sound permeating the King of Evil's bastion. Few moments, if any, were more daunting than the feeling of ascending the long, winding staircase with nothing but a small amount of light shining through the stained glass to light the way before us. A persistent sense of dread looms over us. The music, ever-increasing in intensity, heralds the approaching end. Truly memorable.
Taken from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Soundtrack composed by Koji Kondo. MIDI created from scratch by me, using MuseScore. Featuring the original Nintendo 64 Legend of Zelda soundfont.

No, I think this one is better because of the echo, and its made using modern music software, not 1990's music software

Hold on a second! At 0:45 it introduces a new organ tone but there is no new notes being played at the time.
I'm calling shenanigans, because I reckon it's the actual original music just put into this video.
It's the French Horns coming in -- they play the same notes as the right hand organ. You can see them again at 1:33

Hello Xadra. I just came across your channel and gosh it brings back memories of playing OoT / MM as a kid haha. Question please. I am working on some custom Duke3D Levels to showcase playthroughs and one level I feature is OoT Ganon's Tower. Even on sites that claim they have all the MIDIs, no one has the base structure theme pre-stairs, and well, your tailoring of the music is fantastic. Would I be able to request use of the mid in the files by chance, or how do I license one or inquire about a custom, please?

All the Zelda MIDIs on my channel were made from scratch through MuseScore, using extracted game files as references. These files were put together probably by piano roll editors from the '90s. But, they don't always translate well into written music notation, which is what MuseScore uses. Often times, I have to do some restructuring to make the MIDIs adhere to the OST as much as possible.
"Ganon's Tower" is an odd exception; for some reason, even the game files don't seem to contain the entire track as a MIDI -- only the first minute or so, then the MIDI ends. The rest of the track had to be pieced together manually (notation-wise, I'd say it's about 98% accurate).
The N64 Zelda soundfont used is one I put together myself, using instrument samples obtained directly from the game files. Many of the instruments had to be manually tuned as well. It was a very tedious process to obtain all of that stuff!
@@Xadra Oh wow! Thank you very much for taking the time to prepare an entire build up of the file. Yeah as you said the tower itself is odd since even the game OSTs don't really capture the file in entirety I think. I feel I do have to apologize as well as I should have been more specific. I know the tower themes are out there in various fashions for sure, but what I can't find is the echo-y, deep organ part that is featured at the entrance of the castle. Like when you're going through each of the sage / elemental rooms before climbing the tower proper. That's what I was hoping to find. But since you've also taken such time and care to make this awesome tower file, I'll credit and link you out as much as I can for that. I could try recreating the Castle theme when I have spare time -- it's mostly just ambient effects, piano, and a bit of background choir so it shouldn't be difficult.
Also I wasn't really expecting any kind of payment (I have an email but I don't think I have any online thing for receiving stuff set up, but I can look into it if you insist) I do what I do just as a recreational hobby. Your thanks and credit are all I need :)
