- In this video, I will show you How to Build a Simple yet heavy-duty Welding Table.
I use 3/4 all thread to make the legs adjustable. I use some awesome casters I found on Amazon that are rated at 500 lbs. each!

Hi: I teach welding in a prison. Show your long video not to make fun of you, to show what can happen if you haven't been taught. Also explain to them about me being lucky and not having my finger cut off when new to the industry and working around a forklift. We have all been there and by the grace still all have all the fingers. Thank you for keeping the long video up. It's a great teaching tool.
My pleasure!
You could try putting some expanded metal on the lower shelf, you could fabricate some clamp hangers for the narrower sides of the table, you could also use a tool box to hold the odd jig on 2 or 3 etc, tig, mig and arc components, spear tips, nozzles, cup's and rods plus any other consumables that you have for welding.
Those are all great ideas. I think I am going to make it more of a welding cart. I am going to mount my welder on one side with the plasma cutter underneath that. I will also have to put the mig gas on there too. That be is my plan if I can find the time.
Monster welding table, will live forever!
Very true!
I modified your design, just a bit, but very similar. I added a couple vertical posts in the mid-span. Have the base completed, just nees to finish the top. Going to cut clamp slots in the top. Too bad I cant put up a photo. I have a bunch of big guys around here, so, no need to utilize some of those precarious techniques you deployed!....😂
I moved last year and when I rolled the table off the trailer it flipped onto its top. We flipped it easily with 6 not big guys so you will be good for sure! Thank you for the comment!
hooks to hang up angle grinders and clamps are nice-also a slide out drawer for "stuff". also wire up some duplex outlets with an extension cord end to plug in wall so it can be unplugged when you want to move the table around :)
Awesome ideas, thank you!!
Looks great and very functional. Last table you will need, will last forever. A few holes clamps and benchdogs for squaring would make it perfect.
I may have something worked out for that, coming soon.
wood tops: I use a 3/4" sheet of MDF. If you need it to not slide around, the rubber drawer liner mat stuff does a plenty good job. MY welders live on my bottom shelf nowadays
I love it, thank you Richard!
You could always make leg extensions then add the treaded rod to the extensions
I did do that on my large table build on this channel!
I like the Tennessee flag on the wall. Are you from Tennessee or just a fan. I live in Jacksboro Tennessee about 40 miles north of Knoxville. Really enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing. GBO
Hey PJ, thank you for watching! I am from Coalfield TN about 20 mins west of Oak Ridge.
@@TheImprovementChannel It must be AI grouping people. I'm also from TN. Do you feel controlled?
@@1kbs11 bring people together!
Did you do anything to the top to help keep it from rusting?
Good question, yes I put Johnson paste wax on it. It also help with welding beads sticking to it.
I'm wondering if you could help me with a problem that I am having right now. I began building a food trailer using a frame from a old rv. The trailer is 28 ft long and 8ft wide. I need to beef up the frame of the trailer to support all the weight I have put on it already even before putting my equipment in trailer. How can I beef up my trailer frame to support the weight
Not sure how I can help here over text. Just be careful not to overload the axels. I would advise you to find a trailer builder and take it to that person for them to look at it for you.
How long did you make your legs on the welding table? I was thinking of cutting 3 foot legs
You want to land overall about 36” or 42”, don’t forget to factor in the height of your casters.
What kind of saw is that you use to cut the steel
Evolution 10” slide. I did a video with n the saw here, you might want to check it out.
You actually posted this video AGAIN! JFC dude!
I did it just to upset you.
@@TheImprovementChannel who is upset? I'm laughing at you! 🤣
You were damned lucky you didn't seriously injure yourself. I've shown that video to a couple people to show bad decision making when working alone. That said, I used your build as a sort-of basis for my 1/2" top welding table. I also rented a mag drill and 5/8" annular cutter - cost me about $70 to drill a hole pattern on 2" centers.
I have watched the video and I was there. It looks worse than it really was. That 3-5 mins section probably took me a hour to do.
I bet that table of yours is nice with all the holes in it. Are you happy with the spacing? If you were doing it again would you do the same spacing?
@@TheImprovementChannel I've done a few sketchy things myself and count myself lucky. The hole size and spacing was based on the fabrication tables I see on UA-cam - Stronghand, Fireball Tool, etc. etc. etc. Seems to be a "standard" of 5/8" holes on 2" centers. There are clamps and all kinds of doodahs out there for fixturing based on that plus it's awful easy to make your own with some 5/8" bolts. One guy I follow @TheMetalist did a really nice table in a metric version of that "standard" but with threaded holes (M12?) and his whole metal shop revolves around tools and fixtures that bolt down to that table - bending brake, vice, mag drill press table, etc. etc. He's an amazing TIG and MIG welder and artist.
I am very happy with the spacing. I didn't start mine out near the edge but 6" in all around to allow clamping space and clear the frame. Also there are a few "regions" on my 32"x48" table that I didn't drill - under the vise and a solid area for beating on stuff with a hammer. I wish I had the space for a full 4x8 table. The Mag drill rental cost me $60 for the day plus the annular cutter sharpening fee or something like that. The layout was the important part and I took my time, a precision straight edge and a carbide scribe to draw the grid, drilled starter holes with a center drill and then had a boring few hours or so drilling a crap-load of holes and lightly countersinking them.
@@warrenmusselman9173 thank you for all the good info. I sure I will get to that one day and wish I had done it sooner. I also subscribed to the Medalist, he is very talented and great video production. Thank you for taking the time to give all the details in your response.
Ironically, I just left that video you made on the existing table 2 years ago. AI works in ignoring ways - makes one want to stop watching UA-cam. Between ads and AI and today's politics. Let's see if you work safer these days? I endured watching this video. I see it's a recap of the old video. Good luck in future projects. (JF)
