im 37 now, but back when i was around 15-16 a bunch of skaters in my town pooled together a bunch of money, i forget exactly how much but know it was a decent chunk probably around $10k and tried petitioning a certain location to be used as a skate park. from what i heard, the city gov took the money and used it to build a dog park instead. cause we had a skate park at the time, but it was on outskirts of my town so many ppl werent able to get there. that skate park ended up getting tore down probably 10yrs ago and they built a small crappy one in the center of town with a few manny pads and rail. i dont even think it had any ramps or qtr pipes.
@@filthydlo69 I understood it perfectly fine, skill issue
*Daaaammmmmnnn Gina!* That’s sucks
Lame as
hmm sounds like a lawsuit
It's cool because it's the city / state gov robbing people
As a skateboarder from Namibia Africa i would just be super happy just having the flat surface. We have so little here. Compared to what we have, this is amazing. Mainly because of the floor and flat rails.
Real!!! I grew up in arizona.. used the road to skate.. some roads were better than others and had to travel to them.. most of the time I was in our yard skating in the dirt. Sometimes if you find a very clay type dirt that's smooth you can skate on that until it busts up.
The road closest to me was very rocky but it was better than the yard most of the time.
Props dude!!! Just for rolling in your country. ❤
@@gonelucid I have to use the road and its not perfect but its the best spot. Arizona does have some skateparks, too far sadly.
I encourage everyone to talk to your local government. A friend of mine went to one of the meeting they were having and got a spot to speak to the mayor. He wrote a long speech explaining how beneficial a new skatepark would be because so many kids around here needed it. And he had an amazing speech and actually convinced them to create a new skatepark and it’s gonna be finished soon it took them 3 years to make due to the mayor actually halting the project and getting new construction company because the first company was cutting corners
Super cool to see you skate my hometown! Usually the Weatherford boys run to granbury or Chisholm trail skatepark. Weatherford is also lacking in street spots too unfortunately but one of the local churches actually hooked us up with those Keen ramps (I think). There's also plans on a new Weatherford skatepark being developed in Weatherford in coming years (also thanks to the local church for helping to get going). Anyway much love and you should make a video on granbury skatepark!
Bro that note synchronizing perfectly with the sound of the rail at 3:00 is just perfection
He’s been doing it for years. Go back and watch some older sessions, and you’ll notice the sync. It’s so soothing.
3:19 is the best spot tho.
@@yourboijaka5084 i have but i just wanted to mention how good it sounded
I am actually at this park now.. it is down by my work and I spend my lunch break here.. there is a skate meet there every Monday 7 to 8.. but the damage there (separated ramps, broken Small quarter pipe missing metal) all happened the same day about 2 months ago.. I think rode a 4 wheeler all over the park.. it was a really nice starter park..
Yo. There is no way that that qp and funbox were 20,000$. That’s insane. A mini ramp costs so much less to build.
That town probably just stole a bunch of the money that was supposed to go to the skatepark
i was kinda thinking the same thing 😂 that's literally what it said on the price page for the ramps though! insane
that's usually what government taxpayer spending involves almost always. A bunch of corroption and greed, tons of overhead and theft
Thank you John I enjoy your videos. Keep it up! You are helping to improve the skating community with your indebt real world insights and information.
I wish more towns would put more flow and buy better ramps for skateparks.
At somepoint we need someone to skate Salidas (Colorado) new skate park, it's amazing what the new skatepark did for the town... it's crazy the sk8 community that's developing, I've never seen something like it(being born there), it's such a wholesome supportive community that's just happy they have a proper skate park. I've been in many parks were the community is toxic and full of the degenerates, which feels like it happens to alot of parks. But I just can't get over the fact we finally have a proper skate park. The pro skater Derek (think that's his name) that somewhat sponsored the park is a really good skater and a chill guy, seeing him skate in person is a crazy experience on its own. I just hope that the park gets the recognition it deserves, and to see pro skaters that I grew up watching skate that park.. would be one of the coolest experiences in my life.
My home skatepark was just a flat piece of shitty asphalt that they let the skaters DIY so it has had periods of being good and being bad, but it always ended up going back to be a flat piece of asphalt. I learned to manual and Ollie there, and rolled my first ankle trying to kickflip. I have fond memories of my very brief time being a skater. I still have my Paul Rodriguez board from 2006 and still love the memories it gives me even if it’s a closet board.
Yoo, this is my local park!! Great to see you doing tricks I could never do on the ramps that I learned on
Yes, ARC is here where I am from and a TON of parks in SE Kansas and SW MO are these pre fabbed skate ramps. They also do pump tracks, in ground full cement parks. Most of the stuff I have seen in your videos from ARC are not in production anymore and they have moved to better materials from my understanding.
Man this makes me so grateful to have two insane concrete parks 20mins from my house
About 20 years ago my brother and I made the drive to Weatherford from Dallas to ride a tennis court with some ramps. That was their park back then. Looks like they haven't made much progress.
We had a tiny little park when I moved to KC it's called Rosedale and they have the Woodward ramps. It's crusty AF now but 17 years ago damn it was nice for starting out
Ya those rails look pretty dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
You should donate to parks like these when you visit. Would be cool to see you put in something and leave the John Hill name on that park.
the most motivating man on earth. Thank you John hill
This reminds me of my experience at what I think would be considered the most pitiful skate park in the world. I think it was 2005 when I skated it (once) as a kid. It was in Lincoln, Nebraska. It had only two obstacles: a rail and a small, short, and narrow quarter pipe ramp. The ramp had a plastic pipe for the coping.
Yo keen ramps ✨️🔥🔥🔥
I just moved to Navasota TX. Heard they had a skate park so went to check it out. It's a 15'x15' square concrete pad with 2 small quarter ramps. Found out a cpl of local kids raised the money and petitioned the city for the park. Nice of them to try but definitely the smallest (public) park Ive ever seen.
Here in Ireland we got a similar setup in my local town, Rhino Ramps were the company we got the ramps from. Now the best but its been bout 5+yrs now and they're still in descent condition.
bro i cant get over the synced music skate clips AHHHH
Crazy to see you skating in my town skatepark. Unfortunately I’ve resulted to driving 30 minutes to Chisholm every time and it sucks. A new park would be so nice.
At least they have room to add ramps and such. You should check out Commerce, Texas skate park... TINY!!!!
Love your videos
Bro 20,000 for that fun box is actually insaneeee i could make that for about 500$ and only 4-5 hours of labor
i love that Nollie 5-0 you should do that more that's my favorite trick
Great content bro, love from Seattle 🤘🏼
Hey John, when’s your skate course coming ?
I live in weatherford, only been to this skatepark less than a handful times and yeah its really something... All my friends and I at this point just makes the drive to Chisolm Trail skatepark.
When are you going to hit up both Bonner Springs Kansas skate parks
Much love John, you ever come to Austin?
Our small town let the skaters build a small park on some old basketball courts next to the police station. It was nice for about 3 years but without upkeep it fell into disrepair and was torn down.
I really like that keen ramp’s spine
Great video that is how it feels at my local except it was made by tony hawk a long time ago (Athens, Georgia) like it was great for the area at the time but now it is run down. I wish my city would build a nice one.
this is even better than what I have in my city in Italy
*hey John can you pls review the quick trucks quick system. They look interesting (:*
I love that park
Park looks so worth just for those rails and flat. I'd skate it! It has that DIY feel and look that is great for clips.
Back in the day we had a half pipe where the small keen ramp is. When I was younger like 10 years ago it was taken care of and a lot of skaters would go.
My hometown park has skate wave obstacles. The ramps aren’t actually all that bad but they set them up in an old, somewhat sloped parking lot, so they are not flat and the small rails, box and hubba are all rusted. Thankful to have a park but I am much more happy to make the half hour drive to the nearest concrete park.
I’d like u to come to Minnesota and skate my local it’s small and I hate it but it’s what we got called grind central park
5/5 stars compared to my nonexistent local 😅 seriously the closest park is a 40 min drive, I live in a decent size town in SoCal..
Also, you’ve been killing it John! Love the newer stuff on both channels. Great to see your progression
Damn really? There’s a million parks in socal you must be in a rural lil area
@@Jacob30523 sadly not even, there’s 140,000+ people in my valley. Supposedly they’re going to be building one, but there have been multiple failed petitions and attempts to get one built over the decades.
American Ramp Company equipment is very common in small towns. It's definitely better than nothing. 50k isn't enough budget, though, even for ARC equipment.
Park looks sick needs some Tlc but looks good
Great video John, you Rule!
Will you ever come and do skate park review down in Johannesburg south africa because I'd love to meet you❤
I think John should come skate the Amarillo Martin road skatepark
grew up on this park!
Bro! I live here! It actually used to be a bit better, we had a better quarter pipe, but now it fucking sucks. I drive out to Fort Worth or Granbury to skate usually, or hit street spots
I feel like a lot of the time it would both be cheaper and better for the skaters if the city just paved a space and designates it as a skatepark, sets a budget and tells the skaters to build what they want and reimburst them for materials afterwards.
Whats the song playing in the back while he does the sqarespace sponsor?
There's only one thing you skate to in Weatherford...bbq
I'm only 30. But we skated towns over to get to parks, made it a day trek. That's why we mainly skated street. It's all on our parents whether they pick a decent community to raise you in.
People say this Park is horrible but my Park in Germany in a city which has 7k inhabitants is so bad. It has rough concrete where so many sticks are laying and horrible halfpipes which are seperated as soon as it touches the ground to save money. And a flat rail which is impossible to skate for beginners cuz its so high
John you should really go to Sheridan Arkansas, The skate park there is horrible! two ramps a weird center thing with a awkward rail. Too big for a beginner, and another rail that's awkward as well.
Seabrook skatepark & Kemah skatepark in South Houston are both even more sorry than this park. Both are like 10 min away from each other as well lol
the OG skaters at my locals told me that they used to skate in front of the city hall and monuments every day until the city got so many complaints and got too annoyed, so the city built a skatepark. cities also build shitty skateparks as an excuse to tell skaters that they cant skate the streets because they have a skatepark to skate. although ours is actually fine.
Tony Hawk Foundation helped put metal ramps in our town about 16-17 years ago. The town was "kind" enough to put on an old tennis court (long separated by Oklahoma red clay). It was in the bad part of town. Ended up dismantling the ramps and storing at one of the county rural road depots because a girl got raped at the park. The bad kids ruined it for us. Town 50 miles East paid for concrete and put in the middle of a big community sports complex. Hands down a better investment on their part. Skaters coming from Texas, OKC, and anywhere else in a one hour radius to skate. No night lights keeps the bad stuff from happening I suppose.
PLEASE TRY OUT XHISOLM TRAIL FOETWORTH TX
He did already
If you meant Chisolm in Fort Worth
I would have killed for a skate park like that growing up as we had nothing to skate apart from curbs.
Good video
The middle section is actually built by Woodward
I’m trying to getting a skatepark built in bedford rn
I skate there, let's go
american ramp company built a park in my hometown which is pretty high quality
Nope whenever I was traveling to Houston we stopped at a burkburnett texas skatepark possibly the worst in the usa
Whats the song that starts at 5:41
Wondering the same thing
I found it. Paper Twins: Standing on your own
Bro why didn’t you skate the picnic table It’s my favorite thing there?
I actually know one of the guys whose review you read 😂 shout out to stephen
We don't have a park. We're the county seat even. All the other city's got one. Tell keen to hook New Lexington Ohio up!!
the "park" my town made was 2 quarter pipes a 6 foot rail and that aframe, all from keen ramps. and people who dont skate stole the rail. fr my town needs helps.
My town didn’t allow a park lol
Go to Georgetown Texas..there’s literally the worst park I’ve ever seen. It’s on an old baseball cage cement slab so it’s all sloped weird lol and ramps just randomly placed in spots. It’s by the GYBA complex. This looks luxurious compared to it
This is still better than my local.
I made that petition hahaha
Song at 6:07 ?
Paper Twins: Standing on your own
@@iVinlandd thanks bro!
Technically the cheapest skatepark in TX is in Rockwall, TX.... in my garage.
hi John
I drove through there like 3 days ago lol
bruh got so close to granbury park
Best hill alive
Bobby and Hank would like a word....
Bro the thunder truck dude send u 147s and not 148s
Cheapest skatepark in Texas try Port Lavaca Texas man just saw video over what it looks like what a letdown
Why no upload yesterday😰
I’ve seen worse parks but this is def some hot doodoo
Local here I never try to skate at the park
It’s better then Decatur or Bridgeport…… Decatur is getting a new one tho🤘🤘
I think they are Rhino ramps
Yoooooo is this in Weatherford? Wtf Lmao haven’t been to that park since I was a kid
Chisolm trail skatepark*
DIY, kids.
What up!!!
Better skate parks bring skaters from other areas that buy food, drinks. And gas from local stores to bring more business to the community too.
No skatepark in my city.. 0 € for skateboarding
Random question. But where did you get that button up? Looks thin and nice for this hot weather.
Hey dude
I'd skate this. Wed just treat it like a diy and make it really sick
yo i skate there!
