Absolutely excellent video, thank you. The Go Pro point of view footage was so cool. I got a slightly different version of that line trimmer in a combo kit (with a leaf blower) , ended up removing the guard to get more reach on the line. Nice companion now to the 40V mower.
Just got one. I would recommend getting the one that can take attachments. The newer ones have heads that you don't need to remove the spool to change the wire. I turned the blade that cuts the wire around so that I have longer strings.
Thanks for sharing! Glad to see it in action. Just ordered one today. I already have the blower and poll chainsaw and love not having to mess with the gas/ oil!
Well that's as green as you can get with a trimmer. Looks like it worked ok but because of the vibration it was hard to tell how it actually performed. I also would definitely invest in a second battery for it though, noting is worse than getting half the way done and having to recharge a battery. Also, Lithium batteries have evolved a lot in the last few years, but keep in mind that during the times you're not using it you should only keep a 1 bar storage charge in them. If they are anything like my RC helicopter batteries, during the winter when I'm not flying them I keep them at a store charge of 3.80 volts per cell and they are 6S batteries capable of 25V. And I use 2 of thematic a time for a whopping 50V. Probably more than you wanted to know but I figured you like learning new stuff too. Great job as always on the vids. 👍
Yes I just bought this for FATHERS day, not much vibration, I got two batteries,,NOTE batteries wont charge unless they are cool,,like if you just got home with them in back of truck, and try to charge
Thank you !! Just watched your vid and then put mine together in less than 15 minutes! Very easy with your clear instructions! My only complaint is it is HEAVY!
Nice review Barry. I have the Kobalt 40V leaf blower and have been considering the weed trimmer as well because the batteries as you mentioned will interchange. Thanks, this was very informative.
THANK YOU...for sharing. Nice review. It's a nice day up here in Ohio and just about everyone in the neighborhood is out doing some kind of yard work, Spring is here.
I’ve got four different Kobalt 40V tools and am generally happy with the tools themselves. What I’m unhappy about is the battery packs and chargers. Out of four chargers, two have failed in 12 months. Out of five battery packs (the lawnmower comes with two), three have failed. So I’m running four tools off two battery packs, which s not an operational issue because I rarely use more than one tool at a time, but it really sucks because the battery packs are very expensive. I’m contemplating rebuilding them with OEM Li-Ion batteries but I’d need a BMS system too. Very disappointed in the batteries and the chargers.
Hope this tool is still treating you well. Just saw it on sale today (last day) so grabbed it and checking out reviews before deciding to pull it out or not.
Thank you for the video, but one important thing that I was looking forward to hear is what kind of line do you recommend, what kind of thickness and shape: the round one, the one with edges, 0.065, 0.80??
Bought the combo blower/weed eater kit. Works well for light weeds but not on haver stuff. Only complaint is the string replacement problems. Not easy. Original string was better then any replacement that I have found. Still it's a good product and don't have to fight with my gas trimmer.
Mine has the slide in charger but it was a display or returned marked down to 100$s so they may have given me the wrong charger. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Would have been nice to hear the trimmer to get an idea of the power instead of the music. Looks like reloading the string is a pain in the a** ! Thanks
Hey Hi There, (sorry I didn't get your name from video....) First of of all thank you very much for the video :) I am thinking to buy this 40v combo of mower and trimmer. Curious to know how the battery performs after 1 or 2 years of usage.
The only thing I don’t like about mine is the length of string. It cuts it off too short for my liking...need to modify the cutter blade on it...maybe can be flipped around 180 degrees to give an extra inch or so of line length. Hmmm...🤔
You need to change your angle. I believe the string spins clockwise. If so, use the front of the cutter. t should "throw" the cuttings to your right. Basically you can change how you approach what you are cutting.
Aye idk if you still check comments but mine only shows one green dot while it’s charging idk is it’s ment to or not but just a question it doesn’t charge all the way
Look for a Wawa that has 100% gasoline (no ethanal), use that for all your small engines. Ethanal is like a sponge to water. If left unused for a few months the water will creep in and the motor will start running like Joe Biben's frontal lobe.
@@jodaddysworkshop786 What is the weight with the battery attached? I ask because I want to get something lighter for my 75 year old father. He currently uses a gas powered Toro whacker.
The battery's fine it's the string feed system that sucks. I broke mine by beating it on the ground. Got tired of having to advance the line by taking it apart every time you needed new line. If anybody wants it let me know they can come pick it up for free.
That could be how its spooled onto the spool. Try another line. Even though its made for that line, it might not be the best. Dont just haphazardly wind it around the spool, think about how its coming off when bumped.

Great tip, I turned mine around also.
Thanks for the information. Just got this for my mother and watching your tutorial was making her feel more confident about using it. Today we try it!
Thank you! Excellent video. I couldn't have done this without your tutorial
So helpful! I just bought one yesterday and wanted to see it in action before I give it a spin once our rains stop. Thanks so much!

The vibration made it difficult for filming, but it did a great job. Tanks for the battery tip.

Thank you for making this video! This is very helpful, more clear than the instruction manual.
I have the 40v Kobalt mower, blower, and trimmer. Love them!
I'll have to look at the blower. Thanks.
You are so thorough!! I appreciate how detailed you are

Thanks the only Video on UA-cam in how to assamble the 40v kobalt string trimmer

This video just helped me a ton. Thank you!
Just bought this same kind and you made this assembly so much easier to understand Thank you so much
Thanks for the very detailed demo. It makes things so clear!
I love the name of your UA-cam channel!
You should try reversing the cut-off blade giving you a 13" swath instead of the 11" swath. See the bottom of page 13 in the manual.
Yep. I think I noted that.
Thank you!!! Just bought one and this made my day - great instructions!
Hope this tool is still treating you well. Just saw it on sale today (last day) so grabbed it and checking out reviews before deciding to pull it out or not.
Great video, I just received mine and I do better with visual instructions. Thanks you

I don’t know that there is any particular one you need to use. Was there a reference in the manual?
Bought one! Thank you. Great video!
Very helpful! Thanks for the demo!
I wonder if Lowes has those clearance out at 60% off. Oh, get a shoulder strap.
So which one is better in your opinion the 24v or the 40v ?
Nice review! Great job.

I did a string replacement video as well.
Thank you 👍🏼
Yes, like everyone says, thanks !

Jo Daddy's Workshop,
After a full season with the trimmer would you still recommend it? I'm thinking about getting one.
I haven't used it for a full season, but it's done a fine job.
Great tool but the battery has been an issue . Twice replaced in 2 years including even the charger
Was the battery replaced under the warranty?
Would have been nice to hear the trimmer to get an idea of the power instead of the music. Looks like reloading the string is a pain in the a** ! Thanks
It works very well. Replacing the line wasn't bad: ua-cam.com/video/Iuj5IKP2LIM/v-deo.html

Haven't had it that long, but it's still going strong.
Kobalt needs to recall all of these units and replace the string head.

Yep. It's designed to be flipped.
These worth buying? They’re on sale now and I’m curious to buy one for my new house or not
Mine is still working great.
You stated the trimmer was a little heavy. Is there a place to attach a strap?
It didn't come with one, so i assume there's not a mount point.
When I use my kobolt the stuff I am cutting flies up at me. How can I stop that from happening?
You need to change your angle. I believe the string spins clockwise. If so, use the front of the cutter. t should "throw" the cuttings to your right. Basically you can change how you approach what you are cutting.
Aye idk if you still check comments but mine only shows one green dot while it’s charging idk is it’s ment to or not but just a question it doesn’t charge all the way
Can’t help with that. Sorry
Are you still happy with the trimmer?
I am. No issues so far.
Is your handle dead straight or or is it angled a bit. Mine is angled.
The handle itself is straight as in perpendicular to the shaft, but it angles back slightly towards the trigger.

After owning this now for a number of years, how is the battery life?
Still ticking.

I can’t say for sure.
Stringing it is a pain. I can never get it right.
When I need to restring, I may make a video.
@@jodaddysworkshop786 please do I also got the pre stringed refills, going to try to figure it out.

Anyone know if you can get a brush cutter attachment for this?
Is it still doing good
It is. No issues so far.
How long does the battery last on hi?
I've used it for almost an hour with the trimmer line on the shorter setting.
i have 40v max the battieir did not last year i called I WILL NOT BUY NO MORE kOBALT
Was it covered under warranty?
The battery's fine it's the string feed system that sucks. I broke mine by beating it on the ground. Got tired of having to advance the line by taking it apart every time you needed new line. If anybody wants it let me know they can come pick it up for free.
It’s user error, not product.
