- Steve demonstrates the very basics of using a Power Tank out on the Deer Valley Trail with a 10lb Power Tank. This video will show you how to operate a Power Tank regulator, Super Coupler, and Tire Inflator to inflate a 37 inch tire.
The process is the same for all 5lb, 10lb, 15lb, and 20lb Power Tanks. This video is not a substitute for the instructions and safety pamphlet included with your Power Tank purchase.

A few days ago I pulled into a gas station to fill up one of my tundra tires that was running very low. The air in the station was broken, a dude at one of the pumps pulled next to me and offered to help, he pulled out a Power Tank and filled up my tire in like 10 seconds, it was crazy. Anyways, getting one just trying to decide on color. Nothing is better than real life experience and a good person helping you out with a product you never heard off. He even gave me a quick class on it and told how he went from an onboard air compressor to the Power Tank dude to heating issues.
That's awesome! If you need any recommendations, we're happy to help. info (at) powertank.com. I'm partial to Candy Blue, myself.
This is EXACTLY what I needed to get going. Thank you for being awesome Steve and PT!
Happy to help!
Do you have to/should you purge the CO2 from tires when you get home
Hmmmmm my main question is how long do they last? Like how many tires can be aired up roughly? How long can it run air tools? Trying to figure out if Im going to have to refill it every trip.
Using a 10 lb Power Tank airing up a 37x12.50x17 tire like in the video, you can air up roughly 28 tires adding 10 psi to each. Here is our full air up chart with some examples of air tool use as well: powertank.com/pages/tire-air-up-chart
You will get multiple trips off of one refill. We just got back from the Rubicon where we used a single 10 lb Power Tank to air up a set of 40" tires, a set of 42" tires, a set of 38" tires, and ran a die grinder to clean off a bracket before welding it back onto a Jeep.
I LOVE my Powertank! Best purchase I’ve made for off reading! Never have to worry about driving “aired down” on a long freeway back to a gas station, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve helped air up friends after their onboard compressor overheated.
A few months ago in Moab a friend and I had just gotten off a trail and needed to air up. He had an onboard compressor, I had the Powertank. By the time he’d finished two of his tires, I had aired up all four of mine AND his other two!!! We were both running 35” BFG KO2s, and he was shocked at how fast it was. (It felt good to literally “blow him away”!!)
One suggestion: I’d love a spot on your website where I could find “certified Powertank refillers” across the nation. That’s my biggest struggle is finding someone who can air it back up properly!
Great story, Jeremy. We hear similar all the time! lol We are working on some website updates so I will make a note of that. Once you find a good CO2 supplier, you hang on to them for life!
Why does my regulator freeze?
As the liquid CO2 expands to CO2 vapor inside the bottle, it absorbs heat, making it's surroundings cold, ie. the bottle and regulator. It's just phsyics doing its thing. Internally, the CO2 will never stop flowing. The difference between Power Tank regulators and others is that Power Tank regulators will never freeze shut during extensive use.
What about storage? If you don't off road as much as you want...can you keep the tank filled for long periods of time? Will it leak? Does it hurt the system?
As long as the valve is properly shut, CO2 will remain in the tank indefinitely. If you don't want to commit to a hard-mount bracket in your vehicle, we recommend one of our Speed Bags which is a padded carry bag for your 10 or 15 lb Power Tank with a pass-through hose pouch for an all-in-one transportable solution.
@@PowerTankOfficial Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about this system, but don't get out as often as I would like. Im definitely keeping this as an option. The tanks need hydro tested every 5 years?
@@xbpbat21x Yes, after five years from the date of manufacture, all gas cylinders in the US need to be tested before fill. However, if there is gas remaining in your bottle, it is still usable after five years until it needs to be refilled.
Appreciate the video, very informative.
This will be my next purchase for the trails - don't suppose you can kick your fellow UA-cam customers an online promo code for a 10lb package set up huh? You might see those purchases come in a little sooner - thumbs up and subscribed!
We don't run promotions very often since it undercuts our dealers. That being said, a dealer is probably going to get you the best pricing, especially if they can save you on shipping costs. Otherwise, you'll have to find us at an off road show. Our next one is going to be Easter Jeep Safari at the end of March.
Can you make a vid as how to swap-out regulator from empty to a full new tank
Power Tank Official Thanks for your very good reply. I have 10lbd b on order.
That's freaking awesome
EASY!
