IT HAS BEGUN! and honestly this is probably the best way to get into the story of Genshin, we're 3 years into the game and newcomers would miss out on so much, but looking at the playlist you're watching it covers not only the main story but also the Event Story quests that explore the deeper lore and world building that new players would miss out on. So yeah, I look forward to your reactions as you experience more of the story
Nice! Yeah and the prologue itself takes 19 hours if just doing main missions and we can see it in 2 hours this way so just seems like best way to handle it 🙂🤗 Plus events we can’t play as players anymore was a factor

This is the part where the game will teach you things this is an introduction, it won't be an end of the world event
It may not seem dangerous now, but the more you discover the story, the worse things get, it doesn't seem so bad because you don't know the details

Yeah, the griding is real too untill you reach ar50 or 55 you will feel weak in game.
Lisa is the one of the best graduated students in centuries from Sumeru, the land of wisdom. She’s scary smart and strong but she doesn’t like the researcher job at academia so she came back to Mondstadt to be a “librarian”. What she said to Jean “i’ll lend a hand when the time comes” probably means if sh*ts went down imma kill the dragon myself lol.
Not only that but she was actually supposed to be appointed as Acting Grandmaster by Varka but she declined the offer

So reminder. The game lets you choose either playing as the brother or the sister. And you can name them whatever you want, but they do have canonical names. The boy is Aether and the girl is Lumine. You’ll learn about their deal on the journey, but the gaps where you will learn about them are very far from each other.
Paimon is a character you’re gonna have to get used to because they literally stick with you for the entire game. Whether you love Paimon or hate her, only time will tell.
The game gives you 3 characters for free. Amber (Pyro/Fire), Kaeya (Cryo/Ice), and Lisa (Electro/Electricity). These guys will pretty much be the starting team you get to use for the entire game until you start using the Gacha system to get better characters. Remember, this is a game where one of the main draws is to get a character someone wants to play. And whether that process involves spending real money depends on the player.
Also important to note, that the characters you use don’t actually mean they join in the lore of the game. As in you can take them anywhere in the world, but they’re not actually there with you in the story.
Final thing I’ll mention is that Genshin has these Events that happen between main story stuff and they only stick around for a few weeks before they’re gone. And these Events have actual important lore to them because a lot of characters are introduced in them. So if you continued watching this, and met a character the Main Character recognizes, but you guys don’t, that means they met that character in an Event. So I would really suggest talking to somebody that knows which events happen at what point, so you don’t get confused.

1. Unreconciled Stars (version 1.1, best watch after liyue story)
2. The Chalk Prince and the Dragon (version 1.2 after Unreconciled Stars)
3. Midsummer Island Adventure (version 1.6 after liyue and before inazuma (introdaction to a core caracter in the game in my opinion))
4. Moonchase Festival (version 2.1, simply can watch after liyue story, i add it becouse liyue is china based region and this event have a ton of liyue lore)
5. Shadows Amidst Snowstorms (version 2.3 this event is continuation "The Chalk Prince and the Dragon" can watch right after)
6. Hues of the Violet Garden (version 2.6 this event have a lot of inazuma lore, watch after inazuma story quest and raiden shogun 2 quest)
7. Windblume's Breath (version 3.5 a little mond festival event, but has introduction to a one of a core organization. watch after all sumeru story but before fontane, and also watch after "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms")
it is all for now from me, in my opinion other events simply have a caracters lore. I may forgot some of events so fans dont be angry at me, just add a comment down below. and also, this is just limited events, game still have a more world lore in caracters quest and in a world quest. everyone peace
I think it is heavily implied that the player character knows their own canonical name and have been consciously using an alias in their travels in the "We Will Be Reunited" quest. All other characters refer to you by your chosen alias, so it is possible that they've been keeping their real name a secret.
they missed a dialogue between Lisa and Traveler so let me cover that for you two.
Basically Lisa asks about the Traveler, how his outfit and appearance is so different, and how he can channel the powers he has (the elemental powers: currently wind (anemo) power) without what's called a "vision". When the Traveler says he doesn't even know what that is, she proceeds to explain to him that it's like a keychain which is like a conduit to channel their power through, and is only granted to the "chosen". (infact u will see one in almost all playable characters' body dangling from somewhere in the costume. Easy to recognized cuz it glows slightly and has the symbol of that element). That's all u need to know about visions for now. They will tell u more later... And it is gonna be one hell of a ride.

It's because Lisa is lazy
She is one of the smartest students at the biggest "college" in Teyvat in hundreds of years, but she realized that the search for knowledge there is never-ending so she decided to go to Mondstadt, a rural nation in the north of Teyvat, to relax and do nothing
but that doesn't mean it isn't a living encyclopedia

In the Beginning of Genshin everything is so shiny, bright and happy and later you realize the dark and insane lore poping up that was already always there all along, then you get your mind blown🔥💀

Although I agree with you specifically for what they are trying to accomplish by watching this video, calling it a cutscene reaction is wrong and misleading.
I'd much rather they watch Stray Maverick's "Genshin Impact Story So Far" videos instead.
Just so you know there are lot of limited events in Genshin that aren't available in game anymore that feature heavy story bits and character appearances/lore that you can't experience in the main game. Are you going to cover those as well? If not, I suggest you do since there will be times when characters will refer to something that happened in a limited event or a character will seem shallower than expected because they had their development in an event.
Its not a necessary part of the archon quests (main story)

Following your comments about the world of Genshin being low stakes, I'd say that, in terms of tone, Genshin tends to take a stance of "Shit happens, gotta move on" that I'm pretty sure you'll notice as you keep watching the story, its a pretty melancholic and harsh world but life goes on.
At least thats my take on it and one of the reasons I love it so much.
On your comments about the Traveler, they're often quiet but as the plot goes on they get more personality, I'd chalk this on the writing team getting more experienced and confident.
I really hope you guys enjoy the journey and I can assure you it gets better and better with time!

I Love how games make you interact talking to characters so much. It such a beautiful game, i love the character clothes designs the characters wear.
In the lore, which will be not be covered in any cutscenes and can only be found by reading or hearing the character's voicelines, Paimon was the one who taught the Traveler about language of Teyvat.
So some people thinks that the reason why the Traveler was so quiet and letting Paimon to do the talking was because they are still learning or still getting used to the language.
Important to know the story only gets better and better as you go on.

Lisa, the librarian, just said that line because she's lazy. Lol. Although she's trying to be the equivalent of "personality hire" in a corporate setting, she's actually one of the stronger mages in Teyvat. Iirc, she got her vision (the crystal orb thing that grants the characters elemental powers) just because she said she needs/wants one while others have real tragic moments before receiving theirs. Lol. She's the lazy but can take anyone down troupe.
Love that everyone knows Lisa is lazy haha but in such an endearing way 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames she's very approachable, caring and knows how to joke around with everyone (except when she doesnt like a person, or when she have to actually do something that requires "unnecessary efforts" and it shows)
The stakes definitely get higher the further into the story you go.
Keep in mind all the characters you saw in the character teasers and demos. Most of the characters you will see in this nation, and the next one you will have never seen before. (As they were already in the game when it was released.) So most of the characters you would recognize are promotional material after the game has released.

I forgot just how small and simple this starts. It's such a whiplash from the current and future stuff. The quality thankfully has gone up too. Later down the line - around when you reach 3.0/Sumeru maybe - it would be cool to take a look at lore videos from Ashikai, they're really fun and in-depth, shows a lot more of the layers than what you see through the cutscenes.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Also, if you want to see some stunning fan-made trailers for Genshin, look up Subutai and take a look at the different story trailers - it's genuinely worth the watch.
Most of the Version trailers you've seen have used the male character Aether as the player character to stay consistent. This playthrough has chosen Lumine though, just so you don't get confused with trailers you may have seen already.
And so it begins. The plot takes a while to get to the best characters and story beats, but i hope you'll have fun on your journey and want to see it through 😁

Monstadt has a pretty strong start and welcome to genshin, and for some people Monstadt is also there home where people first start off. But some people drop the game because they don’t like or get pulled in by Monstadt’s archon quest. But it only gets better after this. Can’t wait for more
Story wise we can see it not hooking people right away but playing it and leveling up fast (which is usually how these games work) was probably a lot of fun we imagine. But we know from community is that the story is fantastic so we will stick with it through the “slow”opening 🙂

Personally, Paimon grew on me. She was annoying at first but she has a lot of funny and cute moments. Now I can’t imagine the game without her.
I think the same but there was that one quest where she was only here at the start where.thr traveler was re living their sibling's memory and for some reason it felt so satisfying not hearing her voice in serious moments

Lisa is lazy, she's actually strong and smart, but- She'd rather sit around drinking tea than actually contribute. Paimon will grow on you, Paimon is like- It is your duty to harrass and insult her at every possible opportunity, but if 'anyone else' ever harms her, you are obligated to destroy them.(Except Itto. Itto gets the bully pass.) I believe, Stormterror is actually a sort of demigod? Dragons in Genshin are a big deal. The tone will eventually take... surprising shifts, Mondstadt is really generic, it's just trying to introduce you to the world. I mean the story is so basic at the start that it's literally just Knights vs Dragons. As for the protagonist... We had to wait months in between specific story beats, so, they're incredibly confusing for most players. You might have an easier time understanding them. Also, glad to see you like Hot Batman.

Might just be me, but I think it might be easier just to play it. For the most part you can just do story if that's all you're there for anyway, though this would still be quicker
Yeah according to howlongtobeat the prologue itself takes 19 hours to beat when just focusing on main mission. We can make through a lot of the story and events we couldn’t play by doing it this way. Maybe if we could both do the channel full time we could do it, but Bethany has a full time day job in addition to what she does for the channel 😅
Underrated ability of you guys is coming up with a different description for yourself for every series you react to.

Just cutscenes can leave a lot out from what we’ve learned in past so this covers basically all dialogue I guess haha. But tough to say that in title so we went with cutscenes reaction 🤗

The prologue (Mondstadt) starts out very pastoral and nice, with fairly straightforward issues (dragon attack! you must stop it!) and, looking back, I think that's deliberate. We don't know these characters yet, so we don't really care about them or their issues. A roaring dragon is as clear an antagonist as you can get, and provides a classic motivation and introductory hook. The player is still learning the controls, being overwhelmed by the overworld exploration, etc. The more I look at how the game was planned out long term, the more I appreciate it. :)
the dark secrets of genshin lores/stories are mostly hidden behind world quests which are unvoiced and not part of the 'main story'. you can easily miss those since players can move forward into the story without doing world quests
This is so cool! I thought it will be only reaction to main cutscenes, which would be kinda pointless for learning the story, because most of the story is in dialogues so you wouldn't know what's going on. But it's actually all the cutscenes AND dialogues! Siiiick.

I love that this includes some dialogues+ cut scenes, but at the same time it will be a long journey to catch up if we go by the same length that we saw in this video. I don't mind either tho.

I am SO excited! I've been waiting for you Guys to arrive at the Cutscenes/ Story! So far it didn't come up yet but later down the line you will also see another Art Stil in some cutscenes, mostly those that are about historical events where the traveler/ main character wasn't present. I love all kind of cutscenes and they get so beautiful over time, I can't wait for you to see them and tell us what you think!
PS: I watch a lot of your content, but Genshin is the most fun to me. STILL I am curious: do you Guys think you will do a "Plague Tale Innocence" Playthrough in the Future? It has an awesome story and the Gameplay isn't that complex. If not it would be really cool to at least see you watch the Trailer of the Sequel, "Plague Tale Requiem" ❤

hmm, I wonder if you'll need to react to lore videos alongside this since around half of Genshin's story is told via reading item descriptions of the random books, equipment, and upgrade items you are given/find in-game

Oh The Old Days I miss Them
Uuh, i didnt expect ypu to not only watch the cutscenes but watch videos that show the important dialogue in between. Its gonna be fun! I wonder if your playlist includes only the main story or also Character Storys and Events.
I found the playlist they are using and it's a bit weird. It does have some events and story quests but it's out of order and incomplete. I'm not sure what they are going to do because the channel that they are watching from hasn't uploaded any Fontaine stuff and missed some things along the way.

@@sarahbosch9660 Oh actually the playlist I found isn't what they are using. They put it in the bottom of their description. It's isn't out of order and the events they include are complete. But I still think what they are using is bad. Well it's basically the entire game. They should've just played the game with how much is in the playlist.
@@Melotakuplaying the game isn't just the lore at the start it's locked beyond AR levels u need to actually do the gameplay to advance a minimum into the story so for those only interested in the story just watching videos with dialogue is a much quicker way

it's crazy looking back at OG Paimon with her deeper voice and less childishness before she became the high-pitched bratty glutton of today
She got less childish tho, even if she was nicer before rn she feels more sassy, a bit more annoying sometimes but she has an adult type personality, even if her voice Is worse. I can't imagine start Paimon act as a lawyer or read books like she does now, she looked like she couldn't even read. She wouldn't even fall for kaeya's treasure trick today
I picked the brother and it's been quite the adventure. the game itself is like one giant filler that focuses on everyone else except the main character. And when the story does take time to talk about him the event is over as soon as it starts😅 but I'm sure you two will enjoy the story it's full of epic tales 👍
A lot of these early characters did not get character demo trailers because they were there from the beginning, no need to advertise them I guess. So since you learned mostly through the trailers you will find that they are often absent. Additionally the story has kept moving so we really haven't gotten back to Mondstadt to finish a lot of the character development and plots that were introduced here. Some characters feel like they will be important near the end of the game.

There are theories suggested by a UA-cam Channel called Wei that hints that Paimon is something more than what the game portrays her as
well due to her design its obvious she's related to celestia there's way too much simbolism for it to not be true, so we'll probably know about her lore around the last arc
Hoping someone is buying stocks for pop-rocks, Klee's sparkling bomb about to make a few billonaries by the time they watch all the cutscenes
