They get those bodies and heads from a company called ballistic dummy labs. A single chest costs like 2 grand, but the company send them out for free, I believe.

11:10 actually kinda hilarious, garand thumb and demo ranch proved a couple years ago that shooting an ear with a 50 call will not destroy the head, the damage will actually look very similar to the 5.56.
this is cos yes while every round is meant to have insane wound cavities, there needs to be a certain amount of mass they go through before they start tumbling and expanding inside said target. you can see in a lot of ballistics gel test that the first inch or two of the cavity is super thin because while the energy transfer is there, the round only starts expanding and tumbling after it has gone through enough mass to adversely damage and slow down the bullet. theres a lot more that goes in like what the ear is made out of that affects how it reacts, but the biggest is definitely mass to transfer energy to.

Basically, the bullet is moving so fast physics has to catch up to it and start to act. This is why entrance wounds are typically smaller than exit wounds.

About the bandage size, 6 weeks ago I had a surgery to replace my shoulder, when I came out of surgery, they had applied a huge dressing to the area. This was to absorb any bleeding, and provide padding to the injured area. A week after during the follow up visit the nurse replaced the dressing with a much smaller bandage, where I could see the small amount of blood seepage off the original dressing. The next visit, they removed the smaller dressing leaving just the surgical tape over the stitches.

A couple of things. First the fact that they weren’t covering that building had nothing to do with it being private property and everything to do with gross incompetence on the part of the secret service. Second the ballistics as it pertains to how much it will expand are completely irrelevant when you’re hitting an earlobe which has about the thickness and resistance of a of a sheet of cardboard. The round isn’t going to expand and if it does, it would be minimal. Even a .50 BMG is likely just going to remove part of the ear. There just isn’t enough depth to the ear lobe for most rounds to do any significant amount of expansion.

The being hit by glass theory is being considered for a few reasons, one his medical records haven't been released and secondly some of the people that was immediately around him was hit with shrapnel. So since the people really close to him was hit by shrapnel and no medical records have been released, being hit by shrapnel can't be totally ruled out, making both being grazed by a bullet or being hit by shrapnel potential outcomes for his injury.

It's now vanished from the internet (so far as my google-fu can tell) but in it there wasn't nearly that much damage. The back part might have been gone but his head was still there and still recognizable as a head, complete with a face. It made me sad, so I didn't stare at it or try to memorize it, I just recall his mouth was a little open, there was a large trickle of blood running down his cheek, and a lock of long brownish hair was flopped over his forehead..
