I can't believe he didn't mention how Kokoro no Chizu started out with the Straw Hats falling from the Sky after leaving Skypiea. That's a very neat little detail that I, once I noticed, couldn't stop thinking about.
It's not the same as everything else, and so it gets dumped on. same as how the battle angel alita movie has the big eye thing, but you stop paying attention to that for the most part like 5 minutes in.
I did not want to touch One Piece because I thought it looked too much like a cartoon back in the day. Today I love the artstyle and the character designs and just can not imagine One Piece looking any different. It just fits the series like a glove.
I've always seen "One Day" and "Fight Together" as two halves of the same OP since they frame the Impel Down/Marineford arc so well. "One Day" has that hopeful and desperate energy to it that makes you really believe everything will work out and when "Fight Together" hits, it really hits hard, perfectly emulating that hollow feeling where hope is literally all you have left.
Kokoro No Chizu is underrated. The reason why they're falling was because they just came from Skypeia. The reason the Going Merry is the focus is because the Merry has been going through some real shit.
Yea, i thought Geoff would speak on those aspects of the first part of Kokoro no Chizu, and i was disappointed that he didn't. At least he gave it a good score
Fight Together is the most emotionally rushing opening I have seen. Goes through everyone's story in a brief moment, resuming the actuality and loss of the crew, and their will to surpass it.
I'd put One Day right up there, they're neck and neck for me. Fight Together is as it sounds, a groupwide song meant for each of the Strawhats but One Day is like the first word, it's all about one person, Luffy. His struggles and losses.
honest to god when i first watched it back when it came out i kept bursting into tears every single time it played at the start of each episode. even today hearing it will punch me in the gut with emotion if i even just hear the song, tho thats also from well over a decade of me watching this anime and just how attached to it ive become asdgfhgjhj
Fight Together is to me like Jimbei is in the show, the reminder of all that we still have, after One Day showed us all that we lost. I love both openings so damn much and both are better in the company of the other 😢
I have to just begin by stating one thing about Fight Together, and its how it marked me just by the beginning seconds alone: Just seeing the World of One Piece, the lines being written as it slowly turns while the silhouette of every straw hat goes on to appear as the amazing music builds up is something that makes me majorly emotional, as it shows like how it is in an adventure, exploring a world made of awesome places and mysteries, all while you got your friends and those you care for together with you, a Life Worth Living and Fighting for id say, its one of my favorites intros ever.
Fight Together is objectively my favourite. I can't sit through the first 35 seconds of that opening without crying while looking at Ace's face in the initial flashback. The entire Marineford arc followed by the brothers' backstory in the post war arc hit in a way that I probably should unpack in therapy.
Fight together is the best opening in my eyes. Centered around Luffy, the relationships with his crew and dealing with the end of marineford. That final scene with Ace will always make me tear up
I think it's a top 3 openings if you include the lyrics and their meaning rather than the music, because that's subjective, but they're just so damn powerful. Every member asking "Am I getting stronger?" Capstoned by Luffy's iconic "I'm too weak" in his post war breakdown, and beyond that, they go on to take on an even heavier weight after Ace's death, with lines like (paraphrasing but it's somewhat close) "your "Thank You" blown away by the wind" in reference to Ace's final words, the "you will always, always keep pushing me on," it's just a lot. I love that opening as a whole.
things in Kokoro No Chizu you could've focused on aside from the fact that it uses a 3d model that's not up to modern standards: -falling from the sky isn't just a fun, quirky way to introduce the characters, it's a direct reference to them returning to the blue sea after skypia -it introduces the merry the same as the other strawhats, showing she's part of the crew right as that gets really relevant -ALSO the 3d model shot of the merry does a REALLY good job of showing how broken that ship is without actually focusing on it which. you know. is RELEVANT -it shows robin as part of the crew but also crossing her arms in group shots, sitting away from them as they all talk and keeping herself guarded with the blanket as much as possible while they all sleep (she's the only one who we see only the head of even as everyone has sleeping positions fitting their character), indicating she hasn't opened up to them 100% -it's the first opening to really show what's happening in the episodes it's airing in front of (aside from some villain/side character shots) and it does a really good job of that especially since it had some very emotional stuff and some of the wackiest stuff in all of one piece to cover -shows usopp wearign luffy's strawhat, holding his hand and standing infront of his projected wanted poster, literally showing them to be as close friends as possible, then with zero explanation a few shots later has them fighting seriously. slight spoiler yeah but no opening has ever left me so intrigued as to how this could happen -that brief shot of nami with a gun. how can you call yourself a horny op fan and not mention it. look at our queen. appreciate her outfit it's so stylish. let her shoot you. smh -that gorgeous shot of water 7 with kaku flying over that's not only showing one of the best islands esp up to that point but is also luring you into trusting him while showing off his superhuman abilities that should lead to you not trusting him -kalifa already shown fighting the strawhats. foreshadowing! without being obvious! -lucci and paulie fighting and lucci's face being shown upside down both as a cool action shot AND telling us his role in the story is the complete opposite of paulie's, again without being too obvious because it's all in a line with wacky davy back fight shenanigans so we're not thinking about betrayal even when we SHOULD be -only opening with a dedicated - if brief - shot of hattori and therefore automatically the best thank you for coming to my TED talk let's start that kokoro no chizu for number 1 riot after all guys
Very good points! I also think that Kokoro no Chizu's strenght is exactly getting us interested in what is about to come. Those shots of future scenes/characters really leaves you curious about whats gonna happen.
You should do every HxH op ranked, I feel like departure should be number one but then again departure is real good, I can’t choose between the two. But I definitely know departure is the worst, just compare departure to departure and the difference in quality is clear as day.
I would love them to make a new rendition of the straw hats we are, with all characters in the crew at that point in the story as the opening for the entire arc of laugh tale. Could be magnificent.
There's a really cool part musically in Dreamin' On that I think gets missed. The OP has a ton of loud energy, but when it gets to the part where Luffy uses ryuo, it goes quiet. It really highlights the focus and training he did with Hyogoro to not stress and let the haki flow.
17:11 if you carefully look at the map you can spot text which says 3D2Y I loved how the anime department added this little detail which hints that there'll be a 2yr timeskip. Keep in mind that this opening first released in Nov 2006 and the timeskip happened in August of 2010 in the manga, So Oda must've thought of the timeskip AT LEAST around 4 years before it actually happened in the story which is just crazy!
This entire watch was me telling myself "he's ranking based on visuals not just song, he's ranking based on visuals, not just song" over and over again. Great video as always!
That was this video's downfall as well, sadly All these OPs are connected to the arcs it covers, so it's a shame that he only factored in one out of many reasons why these OPs are great
I think the music has a lot more impact on me than Geoff (despite being an animator myself) so it hurt to see One Day and Jungle P so low. One Day specifically has made me cry more than any piece of media ever
I think he just came with his usual formula of what is an OP and ignored the differences that make OP unique, with it's OP lasting much longer than in other anime hyping what's in the end will only seems to make it longer, and honestly I dislike how spoilerish most op usually are. It's much better to talk about how the tone of the music fit with the arc it's showing, also trying to compare animation itself 20 years apart in a ranking is stupid.
I still find it pretty hilarious/sad that One Day was the peak of that band's career - as I recall, they never put out another release after that, and the band collapsed when the lead singer was arrested and jailed for stealing and pawning the guitarist's guitar to pay for his gambling debts.
Outside of We Are, I will always think One Day is the best. The introduction of characters in the arc with main abilities, sleek transitions, well timed animations that match the tempo, and the emotional attachment really get me.
I'm happy to see Hikari E at third! It's a personal favorite (same with Fight Together) so seeing you rank it up so high just validates my love for these songs and this series. Please keep it up with the OP content, I love seeing you talk with so much admiration for this legendary series
When I was first going though I didn't like it but after re going through all of them... its definitely top 5 kokoro no chizu, We Are, Hope... but number 1... it HAS to be We Fight Together.
To me the emotional weight of the crew reuniting in We Go! is just unbelievably cathartic. They've done so much work to improve and get stronger, and after 2 whole years of being apart, they're finally reunited with one another at Sabaody. It's just so stylish too, with the introductory shots of each crew member in front of a pattern with their name on a black background. Then there's the redux of this motif, placing each member onto a color coded background tiled with a symbol representing their dreams and passions, each appearing perfectly on the beat that leads into all of them finally setting sail again to Fishmen Island. The song itself is an absolutely perfect evolution of the first OP "We Are!," with some very similar horns that are even more bold and confident without losing any of that spontaneous, adventurous charm that makes One Piece so special. This opening is the perfect start to the second half of the Straw Hats journey, symbolizing all of the work they've done to come this far and how they're blazing on into the new world, full of youth, passion, and ambition. Nothing shows this better than the spinning shot of the Straw Hat being passed down from Roger to Shanks, and then on to Luffy. The theme of inherited will is still alive and well. Also it's technically not in the OP itself, but the scene during episode 521 of Luffy saying goodbye to Rayleigh and thanking him for everything he's done while this song plays in the background is just so beautiful. It brings a tear to my (and Rayleigh's) eyes every time. And last note, but I'm a bit surprised that the Wano openings weren't higher on your list, they're some of my absolute favorites. But I might just be a sucker for how good the animation is in both and the traditional japanese motifs in Over The Top.
No cap, We Fight Together makes me cry whenever I hear it and think of the pain and strife that Luffy and the crew have gone through. But they keep fighting in spite of that and promise to meet each other again once they’ve become stronger. My absolute favorite ❤️
@@1sakura0girl1 Exactly! The song is perfect for One Piece. (I will fight people on this.) And the action shots of the allies/enemies is synced so well with the dip and rise in the music, that you can't evaluate the OP as separate from the song.
@15:47 that whole sequence of the SHs walking together in Bon Voyage is probably my favourite thing in all of these One Piece openings . The animation , artstyle and colors all meet the standards that I exactly want from an opening . the SHs look so wholesome as a bunch here which captures Oda's work perfectly . Everything sits right with me that I can never get bored of it . I can't get enough of the goofy way Luffy walks with his weird arm angles . Also look at that T-shirt of Chopper's that says " happy" . that is like the most adorable thing ever to me lol I've always wanted Toei to capture this old classic style seen in Bon Voyage with their later openings , but I felt like it was forever lost with the modern anime-ish digital art style with the post-timeskip default character designs . But then with the recent Wano's opening I feel like they totally brought it back . I absolutely love how the SHs look in the latest 2 openings , as it feels almost nostalgic . Like damn the difference is huge . maybe this is just me though ...
This isn't just you. The entire fandom collectively screamed of joy when the new animation style dropped. There were hints for the better animation in Luffy vs katakuri, but once wano rolled in, both openings and the actual anime got a massive boost in animation quality that also brought back some of the feelings of the more traditional animation, and shall we say, no one was disappointed.
I can agree that the visuals for Believe aren't very good, but they lyrics for the English version really touched my heart. I didn't like them as much after how much I loved the first song, but after like 20 episodes I really heard them. "You're all that I want, together we can move on, Live how we want to! There is no limit to us, we have the power of love and we don't wanna live ordinary lives, we have the chance to live in paradise." It brought a tear to my eye, and I looked over and my girlfriend was crying too. We had both internalized the words at the same time even though we didn't like it much before. That's why I never slip the opening of an anime. Hearing the song many times helps it get into your heart and if you hear it many times it will bring you back to that moment
Never IN MY LIFE did I think that an OPENING could make me tear up until I saw Fight Together. That moment where Ace pushes Luffy forward and Luffy turns around, Ace tips his hat, smiles then disappears and then Luffy runs towards his friends jumps and the song goes "We fight together!" Like wow... Just wow, outstanding 😭💕
I am the funniest UA-camr of all time I watched my latest video and laughed for 69 minutes straight I am extremely funny I am dangerously funny and I have two girlfriends who think I am extremely dangerously funny and they watch all of my videos thanks for listening dear t
I can recognize every One Piece opening, when in the anime it plays, and the order they are in. I've been infected by One Piece for almost a decade and I don't think I'll ever be free.
I've always really loved the 'the strawhats run/walk towards something' parts, as it's always felt very emblematic of the crew itself in the series, Luffy especially. He's gonna move forward to his dream, regardless of what is going on in the world or what his actions mean in the grander view of things. And the rest of the crew will follow him with no hesitation. The run shot in the 8th OP especially gives me that feeling.
The very first OP has one of my favorite scene transitions in an anime OP: the part where Luffy spins the straw hat on his finger only to seemlessly transition to Shanks and his crew. Beautiful bit of editing in my opinion.
Fight Together will always be my favourite as it hit me in the feels harder than anything before or since. But that is a very personal matter! I loved your list! An old english fandub of Hikaru E introduced me to One Piece so it's fun to see it get some recognition, and the 2008 we are is just pure nostalgia, so both of them being at the top is no surprise to me!
For me, other the first opening, nothing will ever capture the feeling of binging One Piece with my brother during warm childhood summer nights like Crazy Rainbow Star does. The best era of One Piece both visually and narratively, perfectly complimented by a song and video that is so adventurous, fun and plain "One Piece" it makes me want to cry
Hikari does the one thing One Piece is best at, it shows how fun and exciting freedom can be. One Piece more than anything is about freedom, both enjoying it yourself and creating it for people who can't for themselves, and Hikari e every episode reminded me how important that is
My favorite opening is your sixteenth pick, Bon Voyage, for pretty much the reasons you highlighted. The scene of the Strawhats slowly joining in (which ends with them all jumping up and doing a heel click) that cuts straight to showing all the traumatic moments that define the characters (all while the vocals ramp up and start belting out BON VOYAGE) hits me emotionally every time I watch it in a way no other OP manages to do. That said, I also would highly rate your third choice, Hikaru E, given how visually gorgeous it is.
Never watched a single episode of One Piece and thus have no emotional investment in it. But when I briefly dipped out of this video to watch THAT video with the audience in France singing We Are in unison, make no mistake, I was failing to stop myself from bawling.
I don't rank the op visuals much, but in terms of favorite songs, I was first a lil taken aback seeing Believe at last place. Which, sure...visual wise isn't much to look at but damn, that song is AMAZING and I love it forever. I also love the intro to Brand New World, the colour spread animations popping into my head the moment the song kicks off, whenever I hear it. I don't like ranking things but if going by both song and visual, I still think that OP1 has it all, it captures that light, exciting tones of early OP so well, that I just can't. For me the openings are most all favored if they are pre-timeskip cause that's the time I actually delved into the series via anime, nowadays simply reading the chapters, accompanied by the soundtracks of the anime itself. So I got a bit of a bias due to nostalgia. Though that does not mean the others aren't kickass and fun to watch, when I get around to checking them at the random times I do.
Hard Knock Days has one of my favorite scenes in any One Piece OP, with the Straw Hats, their Dressrosa allies, and a selection of all their past friends and allies running in place. Gives me chills every time.
I understand you were going for visuals over music, and by that metric I can't really refute any of your choices, but I can't separate the music from the visuals when it comes to an OP. For me they combine to make a single unit.
Brand New World got me into One Piece. Even though it’s the shortest opening in terms of runtime (apart from #7’s ‘We Are’ crew version) it’s probably the opening I’ve watched the most.
If you need some more one piece, how about watching the openings in different languages? The German openings are pretty neat and the first one is also an original, which for me is pure nostalgia 😊 Aside from the first they just sang the songs in German, but I think they're really good 😁
One Piece’s music has always stood out, and not just the OPs. I’ve always been moved by the wonderful bgm. It’s honestly the reason I don’t read the manga. I want to experience the story first with the music.
If you have time for fan-fiction I'd recommend 'This Bites' by 'Xomniac'. It's what happens when you have a OP fan thrown into the world and tries to capitalize on his knowledge to help the Strawhats, toss in a Snarky Anarchist of a Transponder Snail that ate the Noise-noise fruit (...and his Iphone) as his partner in crime. For added laugh's give both of them a literal pirate radio channel that can broadcast to the world and one moment far into the story where he gives Sengoku a heart attack because of stuff he reveals and you have the recipe for a story that sets off multiple Butterfly migrations the world over.
watching jeff criticize the openings from a visual standpoint is very interesting because personally, jungle P and hard knock days are some of my favorites from a musical perspective
I almost clicked off when I saw hard knock days at 23, but figured, no, he can redeem himself. Then I saw One Day at 21st. ONE DAY. I’m sorry, I enjoyed your One Piece analysis, but I can’t continue to watch this video.
It is his opinion, but even the explanations didn't serve up justice for why he chose the rankings. One Day: great animation, well written story, and a beautiful song... is ranked that low!? Crazy
I always thought Kaze o Sagashite was amazing, the happy part of the animation seems to be a dream Luffy is having and the Impel Down part is what is actually happpening... and the song, oh god, it's so good
Lol but it's not like he's watching every opening in every language this series was dub. Though it would be a unique and cool idea to rank the first opening in every language it was ever dubbed.
I started watching one piece when I was 13 and now I’m married with kids. My 7 year old and I are going through the series together. I’m so happy he loves it as much as me.
I liked the random pirate attack in opening 8. We literally NEVER see random sea battles in this show. It’s almost as if the straw hats are the only ones sailing on the ocean at any given time. So it’s nice to see that little reminder.
Over the Top is my favorite. Music included. I started One Piece Fall 2019 excited about catching up to “Zoro’s Arc” in Wano and it was surreal getting to that point last April. Only anime opening I NEVER skipped lol
Dont give it up luffy Dreamin Dont give it up zolo Dreamin Dont give it up nami Dreamin Dont give it up usopp Dreamin Dont give it up sanji Dont Give it up, give it up, give it up ,give it up.
I've been a fan of One Piece since 2007 and I loved the list. As a diehard fan of the 14th opening Fight Together, I would be lying if I didn't shout when it wasn't at least in the top 3, but after listening to the breakdown, I had to agree with your thoughts. Sigh, I love all your videos on One Piece because it fully encapsulates how we've all been feeling for the past several decades.
"the only real cure for my One Piece disease, is MORE One Piece." Yeah, most of us here have the same affliction. I'm afraid it's incurable until the Manga is done so... yeah, that'll take a while.
I HATE that One Piece hasn't had endings in literally over a decade..... Toei could easily afford to pay artists and pad the episode with an ending song instead of endless recaps and stretches..... Detective Conan is just as famous and just as long AND has ending songs.... One Piece has no excuse not having them. Damn you Toei....
Yeah I have always felt that One Piece has had weak Openings except a banger here and there. At the time of the big 3 Bleach had the best OPs then Naruto then One Piece
I think my favorite has to be Fight Together. Not only is it a FANTASTIC song, one of the best of all the OPs, but the emotional weigh for everything that happens during it just hits perfectly. Starts are easy, the first OPs for most long running shows are always going to be one of the best, and One Piece in a way even has two with the post time skip essentially being a brand new start, but endings on hard. Fight Together caps off the first half of the series run spectacularly and despite all the hardships Luffy and the Straw Hats had gone through during those last 100 odd pre time skip chapters it leaves you hopeful for the next phase of their adventure.
To be honest, I kinda have a grudge against OP #3, because I was going through One Piece completely blind. And OP3 starts about 2/3rds through the Alabasta Arc. Also known as... while Vivi was still a major character, and BEFORE Robin was even close to being implied to join the Straw Hats. So in the span of one opening, I had the departure of Vivi AND the arrival of Robin spoiled for me, several episodes before either happened.
Oh c'mon!, Believe encapsulated perfectly the sense of magical the early arcs of One Piece: The looming Laboon, The danger prehistoric island, The bitter sweet Drum Kingdom, The scorching Alabasta. This OP make sure we begin our journey into the Grand Line with a high tension!

I can't believe he didn't mention how Kokoro no Chizu started out with the Straw Hats falling from the Sky after leaving Skypiea. That's a very neat little detail that I, once I noticed, couldn't stop thinking about.

Some people criticize One Piece because of its art, but I actually find it unique and pleasing
It's not the same as everything else, and so it gets dumped on. same as how the battle angel alita movie has the big eye thing, but you stop paying attention to that for the most part like 5 minutes in.
One piece art is A+ tier
It's you again! And yes, One Piece's art style is unique, but not bad once you get used to it.

things in Kokoro No Chizu you could've focused on aside from the fact that it uses a 3d model that's not up to modern standards:
-falling from the sky isn't just a fun, quirky way to introduce the characters, it's a direct reference to them returning to the blue sea after skypia
-it introduces the merry the same as the other strawhats, showing she's part of the crew right as that gets really relevant
-ALSO the 3d model shot of the merry does a REALLY good job of showing how broken that ship is without actually focusing on it which. you know. is RELEVANT
-it shows robin as part of the crew but also crossing her arms in group shots, sitting away from them as they all talk and keeping herself guarded with the blanket as much as possible while they all sleep (she's the only one who we see only the head of even as everyone has sleeping positions fitting their character), indicating she hasn't opened up to them 100%
-it's the first opening to really show what's happening in the episodes it's airing in front of (aside from some villain/side character shots) and it does a really good job of that especially since it had some very emotional stuff and some of the wackiest stuff in all of one piece to cover
-shows usopp wearign luffy's strawhat, holding his hand and standing infront of his projected wanted poster, literally showing them to be as close friends as possible, then with zero explanation a few shots later has them fighting seriously. slight spoiler yeah but no opening has ever left me so intrigued as to how this could happen
-that brief shot of nami with a gun. how can you call yourself a horny op fan and not mention it. look at our queen. appreciate her outfit it's so stylish. let her shoot you. smh
-that gorgeous shot of water 7 with kaku flying over that's not only showing one of the best islands esp up to that point but is also luring you into trusting him while showing off his superhuman abilities that should lead to you not trusting him
-kalifa already shown fighting the strawhats. foreshadowing! without being obvious!
-lucci and paulie fighting and lucci's face being shown upside down both as a cool action shot AND telling us his role in the story is the complete opposite of paulie's, again without being too obvious because it's all in a line with wacky davy back fight shenanigans so we're not thinking about betrayal even when we SHOULD be
-only opening with a dedicated - if brief - shot of hattori and therefore automatically the best

I would love them to make a new rendition of the straw hats we are, with all characters in the crew at that point in the story as the opening for the entire arc of laugh tale.
Could be magnificent.
The first ending Memories did return in episode 968, we can hope!
Episode 1000 granted your wish
My dream version of how events play out is brook “ creates” we are and has the crew all sing it as they cross reverse mountain
Kind of hope its just bartolomeo singing it
There's a really cool part musically in Dreamin' On that I think gets missed. The OP has a ton of loud energy, but when it gets to the part where Luffy uses ryuo, it goes quiet. It really highlights the focus and training he did with Hyogoro to not stress and let the haki flow.
i just want more robin fan service

@Mark Lee I’ve watched and listened to Dreamin’ On SO many times just for that moment alone
17:11 if you carefully look at the map you can spot text which says 3D2Y I loved how the anime department added this little detail which hints that there'll be a 2yr timeskip. Keep in mind that this opening first released in Nov 2006 and the timeskip happened in August of 2010 in the manga, So Oda must've thought of the timeskip AT LEAST around 4 years before it actually happened in the story which is just crazy!
where it say that?
This entire watch was me telling myself "he's ranking based on visuals not just song, he's ranking based on visuals, not just song" over and over again.
Great video as always!
Me when he ranked opening 13 and 16 lol
That was this video's downfall as well, sadly
All these OPs are connected to the arcs it covers, so it's a shame that he only factored in one out of many reasons why these OPs are great
not just visuals, he but subtext also
I was holding strong about that, but seeing Kokoro no Chizu where it was really sucker punched me, lol
When I saw super powers at number 19 I was about to commit a hate crime and break several Geneva convention rules
I think the music has a lot more impact on me than Geoff (despite being an animator myself) so it hurt to see One Day and Jungle P so low. One Day specifically has made me cry more than any piece of media ever
I agree. I still feel like One Day is a masterpiece and it makes me tear up every time.
I can also recommend the first german op for One Piece. It's a Banger.
It is an absolute banger
so fucking nostalgic
Bro u just put me on heavyyy
The first German OP sounds like castlevania music
It's no Naruto German OP, but it's decent.
Outside of We Are, I will always think One Day is the best. The introduction of characters in the arc with main abilities, sleek transitions, well timed animations that match the tempo, and the emotional attachment really get me.
Finally someone talks about Go D. Usopps friend the sniper king😩 Also Op 15 is my favorite One peice Op and also 3rd favorite anime song of all time
I'm happy to see Hikari E at third! It's a personal favorite (same with Fight Together) so seeing you rank it up so high just validates my love for these songs and this series. Please keep it up with the OP content, I love seeing you talk with so much admiration for this legendary series
Kokoro no Chizu is best and I’ll forever stand by that statement.
It’s so fucking great lol
When I was first going though I didn't like it but after re going through all of them... its definitely top 5 kokoro no chizu, We Are, Hope... but number 1... it HAS to be We Fight Together.
Agreed

Jungle P is really Nostalgic to me. Also the rap part lol

No cap, We Fight Together makes me cry whenever I hear it and think of the pain and strife that Luffy and the crew have gone through. But they keep fighting in spite of that and promise to meet each other again once they’ve become stronger. My absolute favorite ❤️
Opening 13 "one day" is about Luffy dreaming about the war,his crew and his brother Ace.
I'm so genuinely offended he put it in 21. place when it's an easy first place for me ;(
@@sleepysera that’s the spirit

@@1sakura0girl1 Exactly! The song is perfect for One Piece. (I will fight people on this.) And the action shots of the allies/enemies is synced so well with the dip and rise in the music, that you can't evaluate the OP as separate from the song.
Yeah, that was a surprising placement.

Franky’s theme is a bop
All the characters' theme are great honestly, but Sanji's jazzy leitmotiv is my personal favorite.
The snare hits that sound like hammers hitting wood makes that track so good
I use it as my alarm on my phone, its pretty hype
& it wasn't even his theme, initially
And it was originally Ussop's theme
Honestly, my favorite was fight together, of course that's just my opinion.
I see no problem at all, in fact its one of the mlst amazing ones in my opinion!
Also look at that T-shirt of Chopper's that says " happy" . that is like the most adorable thing ever to me lol
I've always wanted Toei to capture this old classic style seen in Bon Voyage with their later openings , but I felt like it was forever lost with the modern anime-ish digital art style with the post-timeskip default character designs .
You know your addicted bad when you see the meteoric fall of someone like Geoff and dare say “Welcome to the club”.
Never IN MY LIFE did I think that an OPENING could make me tear up until I saw Fight Together.
That moment where Ace pushes Luffy forward and Luffy turns around, Ace tips his hat, smiles then disappears and then Luffy runs towards his friends jumps and the song goes "We fight together!"
Like wow... Just wow, outstanding 😭💕
Easily the best One Piece OP is "One day" by The Rootless.
Fun detail I just realized about the 4th op, ussop fishes up the panda man, a reference to oda using it as a background character in the manga.
Fight Together still never fails to make me cry :D

I can recognize every One Piece opening, when in the anime it plays, and the order they are in. I've been infected by One Piece for almost a decade and I don't think I'll ever be free.
I've always really loved the 'the strawhats run/walk towards something' parts, as it's always felt very emblematic of the crew itself in the series, Luffy especially. He's gonna move forward to his dream, regardless of what is going on in the world or what his actions mean in the grander view of things. And the rest of the crew will follow him with no hesitation. The run shot in the 8th OP especially gives me that feeling.
The german opening "The Legend" should be number one not gonna lie.
GIVE THIS MAN A MEDAL!
Have been saying the same 🤝 Cultured
Yeah that opening is awesome.
Yes, that is the actual best opening for One Piece
There's no better opening than the first one in German. The lyrics and music fit perfectly.
I personally love OP12 and Jungle P. Hope and Dreamin' On are bangers too.
The very first OP has one of my favorite scene transitions in an anime OP: the part where Luffy spins the straw hat on his finger only to seemlessly transition to Shanks and his crew. Beautiful bit of editing in my opinion.
I've never watched or read One Piece, I just like listening you talk about something you really, really enjoy. Thanks.

Welcome to the being caught up club
One Piece more than anything is about freedom, both enjoying it yourself and creating it for people who can't for themselves, and Hikari e every episode reminded me how important that is
I now await the video that delves deep into One Piece's Pandaman lore.
“We are” will always be my favorite op, just love the song so much
Accually shocked OP 13 it's so low , its One of My favorite ones gives me so much emotion and hype

I always had the impression that "Kokoro No Chizu" is meant to be from Merry's perspective, which puts it near the top for me.
We Are, Fight Together, and Brand New World all constantly fight for the top spot for me but I love all the openings.
Never watched a single episode of One Piece and thus have no emotional investment in it.
But when I briefly dipped out of this video to watch THAT video with the audience in France singing We Are in unison, make no mistake, I was failing to stop myself from bawling.
Best OP: We are.
Best non-OP song: Binks no sake.
Wrong, best non OP song is the Luffy's baka song 😤😤😤

Though that does not mean the others aren't kickass and fun to watch, when I get around to checking them at the random times I do.
believe is one of my fav !
Hard Knock Days has one of my favorite scenes in any One Piece OP, with the Straw Hats, their Dressrosa allies, and a selection of all their past friends and allies running in place.
Gives me chills every time.
And how about how Hard Knock Days has an actual English version from the original band?
Every time I hear "poketo no coin sorette you wanna be my friend" I raise my left arm in a fist. It's important.
What you said about "Hope" could also have been said about "One Day"
@Real Suku it's beautifully written... how is it crap?
It was original and apparently ahead of it's time back in 2010 when it released
Germany put in alot of effort into the first 9 openings. Really nice to listen to, also op 1 and 2 are incredible in Germany
I understand you were going for visuals over music, and by that metric I can't really refute any of your choices, but I can't separate the music from the visuals when it comes to an OP. For me they combine to make a single unit.
Started reading the manga... Didn't hit hard till chapter 81... I should have listened, i must consume.
Literally your one piece videos bring me SO MUCH joy, never expected number 1
This was unexpected! But definitely appreciated! 😁

Brand New World got me into One Piece. Even though it’s the shortest opening in terms of runtime (apart from #7’s ‘We Are’ crew version) it’s probably the opening I’ve watched the most.
If you need some more one piece, how about watching the openings in different languages? The German openings are pretty neat and the first one is also an original, which for me is pure nostalgia 😊
Aside from the first they just sang the songs in German, but I think they're really good 😁
One Piece’s music has always stood out, and not just the OPs. I’ve always been moved by the wonderful bgm. It’s honestly the reason I don’t read the manga. I want to experience the story first with the music.
Ah a new vid about One Piece! Allow me to come aboard and bring along all my hopes and dreams
Together we will find every-thing that we're looking fooooorr!
Both sound interesting, where can I read them?
I truly think you don't understand why Shanks is present in almost all openings. Someday you'll get it kiddo, someday.

Crazy

If uve caught one piece ... You literally know one piece is too short 😭
True man of culture all agree, the orginal german OP rules
Oh c'mon!, Believe encapsulated perfectly the sense of magical the early arcs of One Piece: The looming Laboon, The danger prehistoric island, The bitter sweet Drum Kingdom, The scorching Alabasta. This OP make sure we begin our journey into the Grand Line with a high tension!
