When a lot of the character and fashions designs are super bland.
yu yu hakusho does drip harder than hxh and a large portion of that probably is due to gon’s outfit. killua’s doing his best to make up the difference but that jacket…
@@ProjektTaku I respect your right to have that opinion. But I don't respect that opinion. SOME of their outfits are good. But meliodas goes from decent but understated white shirt, black vest, red tie....to a white shirt with a green collar, and green lacing going OVER a red shirt. Like, that's a basic colour faux pas. Using Red/Green color contrast so close is risky, you need to pick the right shades and they did NOT pull it off. And even if they had, it works better as a divider, as in demon slayer. Their uses of greens in general often felt oppressive, too. The almost entirely green outfits that Dianes and meliodas each sported, for instance. And the orange inside to dianes collar didn't help that. I can see why you mentioned Jojo, since Ban looks like he raided their closet, but the abundantly red "I grew out of my fetish biker suit" feels somehow both busy with the studs and bland from no accessorizing. Pucks is usually a train wreck (though his white outfit is much better)...there are plenty of good outfits too, and they are worthy of some praise, but its very hit and miss. They are better dressed than SAO and when they are at their best, they are better dressed than many shounen shows. But when they're bad? They're so bad. But hey, that still makes them very interesting to talk about! If they had leaned into the odd extreme colour contrasts, pushed it to the arty high fashion extreme that jojo does? They'd likely have made the video then, one way or another.
I’m an art history major, and I wrote an entire final paper on sailor moon’s skirt. Needless to say, I’m so excited to see more people talking about anime fashion!
fun fact: the writing on Izuku’s shirt says somethings like “dress shirt” “flannel shirt”, etc, despite it always being a plain white shirt. I love this man
Fun Fact: Kubo chooses drip for his characters based off what he sees in malls, magazines commercials etc. Usually picking clothes he couldn’t afford as a teen
I love how he avoids using cuss words so he doesn't get demonetized but with Satoru Gojo he just has to say "he fucks" because we all know you can't hold back with Gojo
@@devfromthebay2587 It just gives the feel of a more family friendly UA-camr since he uses the word "heck" a lot. Tho he is far from family friendly which is a good thing imo
@@carloshuerta7946 me too. Just when he said "this guy" I screamed "Fucks!!!" an Ad popped out. To my surprise after the ad was over he actually said fucks.
I remember an article about jojo and how you could look at it as a world where wild fashion isn't only for the rich and every can express themselves in style without backlash. In real life a guy celebrity wears a skirt or dress and can get away with it but your average guy can't. Jojo is a world that says you can wear what makes you happy, rock your style, anyone can dress like a model because not one is gatekeeping fashion.
Also worth considering: when you got an invisible punchghost who can shatter concrete at your beck and call, would you really worry about what other people think about your leather crop top and tight jorts?
Jumping Jack Flash was sent to prison for those shoes though. That's the one line I won't let JoJo's cross. JJF was only in jail because of fashion police.
I think literally all male celebrities would get the same stares in public as a less-famous man. Being against the tide gender-norm-wise is a lot different from simply expressing your fashion. A skirt or dress is HELLUVA statement from a man, regardless of fame or wealth.
I really like this take. Another thing gatekeeping fashion besides money is effort and function. I cannot imagine how anyone has the time and effort to get JoJo hair and keep it that way. It's really cool, but it looks like it requires incredibly high maintenance. Also, some of that stuff looks uncomfortable with tight fitted and how many accessories seem like they could get snagged on something while walking
While jojo characters have drip, their outfits are more runway than something I would be comfortable wearing around town. Bleach have drip that I can see myself wearing comfortably.
Both of them are completely different style, so it’s honestly quite weird to compare them. Bleach has amazing fashion sense. Jojo has the most unique style of fashion sense. Despite that tho, I’ll wear jojo drip 100%. There’s still comfy ones, like ma boi Johnny who’s wearing star pajamas💀
Something I really like about the clothing design in Demon Slayer is that it’s used to illustrate bonds between certain characters. Tanjiro’s haori and Nezuko’s obi both have a checkered pattern found on at least one piece of clothing their deceased family wears, Zenitsu’s haori is the same pattern as his mentor’s, everyone at the Butterfly Estate wears a butterfly hairpin, and the patterned half of Giyuu’s haori matching Sabito’s clothes foreshadows their connection.
Jojo's by far is the most stylish anime in the shounen genre. But if we look outside of shounen. I think Josei has been serving up looks for quite sometime Nana, Paradise Kiss, Princess Jellyfish. Maybe it goes hand in hand that the genre meant for adult women is more on trend but for such a small genre it would be a shame to overlook the character design they've been throwing out for decades.
my hot takes on naruto's outfit that no one asked for: naruto's outfit although ugly as sin is actually pretty genius. his outfit fits him terribly, it's far too big for him, it also seems to be a lot older in fashion than the clothes of all the other kids. not only that, but it looks a little dirty. these elements make his outfit so genius because they tell you about his character right off the bat. he's a scrappy, grungey kid who mostly buys his clothes at thrift stores probably and can't afford anything that will actually fit him. he probably found this in a thrift store, thought it was sick as hell, and bought it for 8 bucks. what makes this outfit even more compelling though is the redesign of it. the redesign in shippuden also tells you a lot about his character if you compare it back to naruto's original jumpsuit. now instead of being baggy it fits him much better, it doesn't seem as dirty either and the color combination is more mature. he's taking better care of himself, has more money to spend on himself, and is a bit more mature. and yet he's still the same scrappy naruto we know and love. this was longer than expected lmao. Soul Eater's entire design for EVERYTHING was awesome. It wasn't content with going "Yeah, our characters all have this cool hip-hop/goth/shonen anime pastiche", the BUILDINGS and CLOUDS and MOON carried the look over too.
One of my favorite things I've read about Soul Eater was someone saying that none of the main characters looked like they were dressed to go to the same place. It's so true, and yet it works, I think at least partly because of what you've said here about how the world itself has an equally raucous appearance.
Soul eater’s art and design work is phenomenal and the animation was amazing for its time and holds up incredibly. I really wish we could get a manga accurate anime cus that shit went even harder(though had a slow start) sorry I ramble soul eater is probably where I draw most my inspiration coming to art lol
If you’re gonna mention Soul Eater we gotta talk about the witches, I love how each of them have a style that incorporates their animal motif. I mean, look at Medusa with that black sleeveless hooded dress and the snake tattoos on her arms aaah
Medusa is one of the best shounen villains ever. It really sucks that we never get a Maka vs. Medusa fight in the manga. Hopefully an anime reboot fixes that.

This is entirely why I like the ED of Jujutus Kaisen because it means that Itadori has Spiky Anime Protagonist Hair because he puts like… so much product in his hair. I also am so confused as to how Saturo's hair works because like… it's light and clearly pin straight, so it should be spiked up with a blow drier and some kinda hold hairspray but the moment he drops his blindfold his hair comes down. And in a show that treats clothing/hair as "normal" when everything else is straight up supernatural, I've been trying to figure that out for a bit. EDIT: … oh my god I realized why I recognized Gojo's hair!! Of course his hair has a mind of its own, he's *clearly* related to the Heroic Spirit Archer, King of Heroes, Gilgamesh! It's also why he's an inexplicable chick magnet, and why he's got an ego the size of a small star. Semi-seriously though, it was gnawing at me until I was in F/GO playing Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia and realized that he… just has his hair spike up *for reasons* and the rest of the time it's down. Yes, I am Fate trash. Yes, I am Fate/Zero trash. Yes, I am Saturo Gojo and Gilgamesh trash. … I'll see myself out. -pops back in- Side note: the "casual" clothes of Animated/F/GO Fate Characters span: stretchpants and a fanboy shirt and lose V-neck with a far too much money golden necklace and snakeskin pants and snappy shoes and somewhere in the middle is Black-Suit Saber who I would probably die for. (Or leggings, blue skirt and white jacket Saber from the… triad(?) date Rin/Shiruo/Saber all go on.) And no, I can't tell if Gilgamesh drips or if he only drips for the proper setting of Fate/Zero of 1994-and even then.
Not technically anime, but related: Sephiroth canonically goes through an entire bottle of shampoo and an entire bottle of conditioner every time he washes his hair.

@@Ahmed-xy3pc hmm. I dunno. I want to say "yes" but seeing as I'm jumping chapters between Black Clover and Demon Slayer (because I've seen all I can legally of Demon Slayer and am watching Black Clover because of a good friend and Lore Spoilers Nux did a video on, and reading the manga AND the anime at the same time is… a tall order… I switch out with it) and would have to say that in terms of *designs* Demon Slayer beats Black Clover. However in terms of *fashion* of a main cast that changes, I'd say that Black Clover beat Demon Slayer. I don't think it beats Jujutsu Kaisen simply because it's *so hard* to accurately compare medieval-ish fantasy Epics with modern day Tokyo High Schoolers. They're both good, just different. With a lot of what I'd call "fantasy fashion parallels" between certain Jujutsu Kaisen characters and certain Black Clover characters. Personally I'd say that I really like the… bizarre reality of Chainsaw Man's outfits-at least for the ladies. That whole manga felt like a fever dream though (and I just finished it a month ago and am vibrating for the new arc) so… I really hope I'm not warping that in my head too much, but Power has some great outfits.
I have to make as stand as a girl who grew up in the 90's; Yu Yu Hakusho has HANDS DOWN some of the best dressed men ever drawn. Not only did the boys regularly change clothes, they changed into stylish ones. Kurama's outfits ran a cultural gamut; Western styles, Chinese martial arts, Japanese school uniform, Japanese gis...... his clothing encompassed a huge variety of colors, tones, styles, and fits. But he always, ALWAYS looked incredibly sharp, dressed like a mature, classy, upperscale young man. Yusuke was the epitome of a fashion-forward street fighter. His outfits were always nicely assembled (heck, he even refused to wear the uniform for his own school because he didn't like it), but they let him move freely and would never look out of place for a brawl. Kuwabara, while not as attractive, had a very distinct and flashy style that was as expressive as he was. Hiei, on the reverse, was very attractive but wore incredibly toned down clothing. The most elaborate thing we see him wear is his blue overcoat with the gold trimming and red lining outfit. He didn't wear as many diverse things, but they were full of saturated color and designed to accentuate the movements of his attacks. And then of course... Koenma. In his teen form, this guy is a one-man fashion show. Heck, Naoko Takeuchi (creator of Sailor Moon and Togashi's wife) let Koenma wear the ever famous Tuxedo Mask outfit in one of the arcs. Koenma's wardrobe OOZED drama, with scarfs, capes, and snappy shoes. But the boys weren't just dressing up in the show; promotional artwork, OPs and EDs, art especially for character songs, their movie fashions.... if Togashi hadn't become a manga-ka, he would have made a fortune as a costume/fashion designer. The man has a gift.
Half-way through this comment I realised that somehow you've managed to weave in a narrative arc, with a premise, high and low points, climax, and resolution.
You can say whatever you like about Dekus fashion, boy dresses like a teenager- he wears a shirt that literally says shirt on it- but his shoes are ICONIC
Ah yes, the shoes that somehow won a few votes in the series' 'Favorite Character' poll. They shall live in infamy - especially the left one. It got more votes than the other
I like his casual clothes too. The maroon jacket and the pants that button off-center. The white jacket over the pink shirt is also pretty good. Lelouch just always looks great (unless he's unusually frantic -- you know the moment -- but that's not really a fashion issue, soooo....).
"Most of the characters just look dorky" that's because a majority of 15/16-year-olds can't dress for shit, it's ironically the most realistic element of My Hero Academia if you think about it. Adolescence is the age of terrible, hormone-fueled decisions and the sort of edginess that makes us look in horror at our past once we grow out of it.
I mean, I agree, but on the other hand, the adults are hardly better, for the most part. Maybe becoming a superhero / supervillain makes you especially attuned to your inner teenager?
as someone that recently marathoned the original run of Sailor Moon (we don't talk of Crystal in this house) can confirm it has drip for years. it covers basically every facet and trend of 90's fashion you could possibly want or need, like I'm convinced that half the reason there's so much filler is just to contrive new reasons to put the girls in new outfits
Cowboy bebop has very little costumes but they're all perfect. Retro, fashionable and represent the characters personality perfectly. Spike and Faye have some serious drip.
All the clothing brands releasing "gender neutral lines" full of dystopian prison jumpsuits need to take a look at Ed for an example of androgynous clothing that is simple and yet actually visually appealing.
lmaoo. For real though, the fashion in Naruto is actually really good at times, although it's also bad at times. I honestly think Naruto's regular genin outfit is pretty basic and not very creative. it's just an orange tracksuit. but the akutsuki coats are... wow.
Exactly. Most shonen outfits are something you stick on to go fight demons or whatever the plot demands, a human could conceivably dress like Eren Jeager and go to the pub for a beer. Nobody is going for a quiet drink dressed like Josuke. That's why its awesome.
JoJo's is *THE* anime that made me love fashion, before that I thought fashion was stupid and superficial. I have learned to see the beauty on what you wear and appreciate the individuality of it. I legit had different eyes while watching anime, I could appreciate the fashion sense, and that made watching anime and reading manga an even better experience. That aside, before JoJo's I didn't know the male body could be beautiful, I don't know what's with that, is like I was blind before?
Agree, i think his design also ties to the idea of gintama not being about perfect indivinduals, but rather flawed characters. It's not about the gold: a protagonist with the perfect clothing, a heart of gold, with a perfect weapon, who always does the right thing. It's about the silver, a lazy samurai, who can't even bother to use his kimono properly, carrying a wodden sword and doing any kind of job for money and spending everything in beer, gambling and candy. That's gintoki his design and main weapon fits him perfectly
I think I heard somewhere that Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, originally wanted to be a fashion designer, which explains why the Bleach cast usually look hella nice on the chapter title pages
I watched that, and then I watched the second season of Doctor Stone and then I was like...wait did it ever get explained if his hair is just naturally like that? Is the gymnasts hair anime pink or dyed pink?
Anyone else remember the "Sailor Mufti" series of tumblr posts? Iconic 90s looks, analyzed one senshi at a time. Perfection. ("Mufti" means "out of uniform, for those wondering!)
It's also particularly fitting for his character--we can see in flashbacks that he wore largely the same thing as a kid, so it stands to reason his family's control stifled his interest in and/or ability to explore that side of himself. His fashion is evidence of his growth into the man he wants to be
Naruto's fit only looks dorky because he wears it fully zipped up, lol. When he had it unzipped like a normal jacket and has his mesh top and necklace on display? Drip for days. I always thought Temari had the best fashion choices of anyone in Naruto though. The Akatsuki robes are iconic af. And SAI is a fuckin legend.
Ino's got a good look too- no wonder she hooked up with Sai, only guy in the group that had fashion in mind. Also, Sasuke's shippuden outfit had way more style than any of his others.
I love every single sasuke redesign even the one in The Last with the head wraps. Although start of shippuden white robe sasuke will always be my favourite.
I love how the characters in Bleach wear really cool outfits in the OPs, EDs and the cover pages of the manga. Tite Kubo even studied in fashion designing.
Meanwhile, in Kingdom Hearts, every damn person in the Organization wears the same black coat and does nothing to make it their own, making it nigh impossible to tell who's who.
Yu Yu Hakusho has some of the cutest outfits I've seen whenever the cast wears casual. It's like something you'd actually wear or see in a magazine i love them
@@shadek9278 I'm a massive Bleach fan and was super hyped to see it here And I'm not that big of a jojo fan But... man. I can't lie. Jojo's fashion is transcendent. Kubo does a FANTASTIC job but at the end of the day it isn't him getting the partnerships with Gucci.

I know we're specifically talking about shonen anime here, but any time someone brings up fashion in anime I immediately think about Card Captor Sakura. I'm still impressed by all the cute outfits in it, even years and years later. I love it when anime let their characters wear different clothing here and there. I get why they don't do it a lot, but fashion can tell you a lot about a person and I love seeing what the creators put their characters in.
In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle the main cast gets new outfits on every world they visit. Sakura in a classic Korea dress? It's Canon, Syaoran hunting monsters in a school uniform? Canon! Kurogane rocking postapocalyptic combat gear? Canon! And more awesome outfits on the cover, it's amazing.
I think that Hero Aca's rather lackluster fashion could be a way of reminding the audience that these are young teenagers. They dress like their parents still pick out their clothes, possibly because they do, at least partially.
@@Luffy-su1ho Even then, they still suck. The back of YaoMomo’s goofy ahh hero costume had to rip cause it didn’t accommodate to the fact that she needed her back open for larger things.

And shoutout to Hawks casual looks, few they may be. His hero uniform is a bit of a letdown colour-wise(brown? really?) but when the first time we see him in casual clothes he's wearing a leather jacket and fingerless biker gloves, you gotta give him props. His hero look also looks infinitely better when you remove the jacket, but he'd probably get cold flying without it
I don't know if it was intentional, but the ad placement right after "this guy..." and just before "...fucks." had me laughing really loudly, very nice use of a cliffhanger
Can’t believe you didn’t mention the DIVINE EMPEROR OF FASHION HIMSELF, Edward “you guys have a problem with my sense of style??” Elric. There’s even a running joke in the fandom that he would have spent all of his State Alchemist wages on ‘90s-era Hot Topic apparel and I can’t say I disagree.
Megumi isn't boring, his just a more subtle character than the others. Like introverts and extroverts. It's refreshing compare to the other overhyper trope characters

I had this exact same interaction. Funny enough an ad popped up before Geoff said Fucks so I finished it in my head. Ad ends only to confirm what I said lol
Yu Yu Hakusho still to this day has my absolute favorite fashion aesthetic in anime. It actually makes them feel like real people and not just characters.
This should be a series, honestly! Dunno who recommend for counseling whether the fashion actually works or not, but I'm sure there are some anime/manga fans that study/work at fashion, modeling or art that would be glad to help you tackling this topic in each of the series you mentioned and more!
For all the praise you gave the character design - not mentioning Soul Eaters Casual/off-day drip leaves out nearly half of the drippiness of the show. Black Star in a casual tank top, Soul with a circlet instead of his headband and the orange tee + black shirt jacket combo and DTK in a black open short sleeve shirt over a red henley were all quite stylish in their own right
Honestly, Jojo is so fashionable because of how out there the designs are, but in terms of coolness/practicality you can't touch Kubo. His whole appeal was how slick his characters looked.
I love how the AoT military uniform has are all matching jackets that denote what branch they’re in. I also love that they’re in the military and they were all given jackets designed not to fit properly. They can’t button up and the jackets don’t go down they’re body. It’s designed solely to flap in the wind while being only slightly more practical than a open trench-coat on a motor cyclist.
The aot uniform design is so fucking well thought. The jackets both fit loose and are cropped on everybody for practical movement reasons. If the jackets were any longer they would get in the way of their ODM gear and possibly endanger their lives if the hooks got caught up in the material. Also the straps going around all over their body are there to help distribute the force of the pull of the hooks everywhere, as to not strain any particular body part too much. Of course, for better balance in the air too. Even the high boots with the loose knee protector to provide better mobility while also acting as a light knee pad. It’s just so well engineered for their purpose. Contrast that with Marley’s classic military uniforms that aren’t used for any specific purpose outside of separating the civilians from the soldiers and you really learn to appreciate the design of Paradis’ uniforms. Isayama did a great job.
@@leviathann6435 Why not button up the jacket? If mobility is the issue just have the sleeves and collar. I was under the impression they wore the coat for warmth since they wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. Actually, looking at it more closely, they could attach the coat to the strap that goes across their chest or the at the intersection where the breast strap and the should strap meet. Maybe buttons could be placed on the strap that would insert into the back of the breast pockets.
@@grantlauzon5237 Yes, I also think the jackets are a warmth factor since you would get pretty cold going so fast through the air, look at bikers for example. It could be the hottest summer outside but when going fast you will get cold. They also are the only piece of garment that shows what faction they belong to. I think that’s the main reason all the soldiers keep it on. Regarding the strapping of the jacket to the chest, I think that would kinda restrict them actually, since the jacket is of a tougher material than the shirts underneath. It would be harder to move your arms. Think of having a denim jacket buttoned up versus having it open. I don’t think they would bother changing the design so much since the ones that use the odm in dangerous situations the most are the scouts and they don’t care if the scouts die tbh. Also, they are fucked if they get their jacket hooked on something while running from the titans and they can’t immediately get it off. I think they fixed all the problems regarding the jacket in the new designs where the main purpose of the uniforms is maximum mobility and efficiency while using the odm gear, while the old design, although good, was made to also allow odm usage besides being a casual uniform, you know what I mean?
I also think within fashion there’s a lot to talk about. Notably hairstyling I think defines a lot of characters (Bakugo, Zenitsu, and every JoJo character come to mind). And even more subtle hairstyles help define their characters.
Hairstyles are kind of interesting, because unless they're named Bulma most characters keep the same hairstyle during the entire run of the manga. It's part of their silhouette and helps make their face memorable even when the artist's got sameface issues. Note how even in the fashion-conscious series showcased in this video the hairstyles are largely static.
if anyone knows about fashion, it's definitely CLAMP though they're not exactly shounen but man, they've touched everything from haute couture to traditional japanese garments to streetwear and made it GOLDEN !!!
Shojo fashion is mega drip, some artsy haute couture drip like Nao Tsukiji's manga, or some street wear drip like sailor moon or cardcaptor sakura or banana fish
Yes! Thank you! Everything clamp touches is absolute gold! And then there's the official art which is just godly! I think xxxholic and x/1999 are my personal favourites. And I wouldn't say they're not shonen per se, it all depends on the title. Code Geass is definitely shonen and imo so is Tsubasa Chronicles.
Samurai champloos cast had some good looks with Mugen's messy but strangely modern look, to Jen's traditional samurai look, to fu's random but grate gag outfits
One of the things I love about One Piece fashion is how Oda uses it to unite groups of people! Whether that's helping to distinguish locations via people of certain islands dressing for the weather (like Punk Hazard, Alabasta, and Drum) and different cultures having different styles (like the Shandorans and the Skypieans, or the people of Dressrosa), or groups having a united style or theme (like the Newkama, Moria's crew, the Revolutionary Army, and even Foxy's and Buggy's crews). One Piece is wild with its character design but it still works in a way that feels logical and I love it for that.
Alright you're definitely right about My Hero EXCEPT that Deku's wardrobe plain white t-shirts that declare themselves to be other kinds of shirts is clearly peak fashion

@@Levyafan Gotta have a drip while punching the life out of people
Jumping Jack Flash was sent to prison for those shoes though.

Can we get an episode on anime hair? Is it natural or styled? If the latter, how many gallons of coloring and style gel do they go through?
This is entirely why I like the ED of Jujutus Kaisen because it means that Itadori has Spiky Anime Protagonist Hair because he puts like… so much product in his hair.
I also am so confused as to how Saturo's hair works because like… it's light and clearly pin straight, so it should be spiked up with a blow drier and some kinda hold hairspray but the moment he drops his blindfold his hair comes down. And in a show that treats clothing/hair as "normal" when everything else is straight up supernatural, I've been trying to figure that out for a bit.
EDIT:
… oh my god I realized why I recognized Gojo's hair!!

It makes sense for Jujutsu Kaisen characters to have taste considering the Manga artist has gone on record to say that Tite Kubo work inspired him.
Same with Black Clover, the character designs are unparalleled and the best in shonen jump right now.

The sad reality of naruto is that even tho sasuke is the worst character, he ends up with the most drip in Shippuden lol
Also that naruto loses his already sad excuse for drip after the time skip
Some one pointed out that Sasuke is a good character just a really really REALLY unlikeable one
I disagree! Itachi's the best in drip, skill, and legend. Only raging anime TB could make him nap for a couple hundred chapters.

@@savvivixen8490 There isn't that much to itachi's style tho, even compared to the other akatsuki and anbu. At least sasuke's style shows a little personality with the white snake colored kimono and purple sash.
The akatsuki are all dripping
I still think Spike from Cowboy Bebop has one of the coolest outfits in anime. Simple yet oh, so effective.
Bro Faye and Spike got enough drip to make up for the rest of the casts lack of drip
Sometimes the clothes make the man but also it takes a certain man to make the clothes. That's where the phrase "being able to pull it" off comes from.
Honestly even eds outfit was lit
Ok well I got to the end of the video and I at least appreciate the subtle shoutout to Beck cause that changed my life as a kid, drippiest anime was probably shaman king, esp if we count random manga outfits. Drippiest boyo is Spike from Bebop because I'm not even sure I knew what cool was until I saw him. Honestly maybe D.N.Angel as embarrassing as it is for drippiest overall because like even Daisukes dad had drip and he was barely in it. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk
So glad to hear someone praising Bleach’s fashion - I’ve been a fan for years and always loved browsing through Kubo’s art books.
Right before the midpoint ad, I was asking myself, "how has he not even mentioned all the streetwear in BLEACH yet?", and then right on cue, the instant the ad ended, Bleach took the stage.
Same. Bleach is only anime who's style i like.
Bleach has timeless, excellent fashion. You could stare at one piece of cover art for days.
I mean it’s in the thumbnail.

Personally I love Dabi's stapled clothes. Like this man COMMITS to the aesthetic and said "i'm gonna staple my jacket and pants so ALL of me match".

For April fools day, Geoff should publish a “what’s in an OP?” vid, but instead of it covering a opening, it instead talks about One Piece since OP=One Piece
I second this notion.
but first he must do a video on seven deadly sins
Considering the usual videos are 30 minutes of talking about a minute and a half clip, it would have to be several decades long... :)
"What's in OP?" Would be just similar enough for everyone to Fall for the joke and not be confused later

Yu Yu Hakusho still to this day has my absolute favorite fashion aesthetic in anime. It actually makes them feel like real people and not just characters.
On the Naruto headbands: Hinata did it right wearing it around her neck. I did that in school and got actual non-ironic compliments for it
Then there’s Shikamaru who wears it on a sleeve
The "dad using modern fashion slang to embarrass his kids" energy is off the charts in this video, and I absolutely adore it
This should be a series, honestly!
Black Star in a casual tank top, Soul with a circlet instead of his headband and the orange tee + black shirt jacket combo and DTK in a black open short sleeve shirt over a red henley were all quite stylish in their own right
When You're halfway through the video and you start getting real nervous that cowboy bebop hasn't been mentioned yet
Honestly, Jojo is so fashionable because of how out there the designs are, but in terms of coolness/practicality you can't touch Kubo. His whole appeal was how slick his characters looked.
“This guy...fucks”
Why I am laughing so hard??
Jojo's def Goated, especially with all of araki's collabs. Almost got me to buy some balenciaga lmao
In this regard, the new designs are a step up
The aot uniform design is so fucking well thought.
I think they fixed all the problems regarding the jacket in the new designs where the main purpose of the uniforms is maximum mobility and efficiency while using the odm gear, while the old design, although good, was made to also allow odm usage besides being a casual uniform, you know what I mean?
wdym not fit properly lol
cropped work / military jackets are pretty normal
bleach has the best fashion in anime everyone dresses fire when they are in casual clothes
nah seven deadly sins got the best fashion in anime
Takehiko Inoue's Slam Dunk would like to say hi
As a jojo's fanatic I can barely contain myself while reading these comments. Jojo has two Gucci collaboration. That's all I need to say.
Apparently Tite Kubo wanted to be a fashion designer so he put a lot of that love for fashion into his characters.
jojo > bleach
I also think within fashion there’s a lot to talk about. Notably hairstyling I think defines a lot of characters (Bakugo, Zenitsu, and every JoJo character come to mind). And even more subtle hairstyles help define their characters.
I like seven deadly sins fashion the most
Hairstyles are kind of interesting, because unless they're named Bulma most characters keep the same hairstyle during the entire run of the manga. It's part of their silhouette and helps make their face memorable even when the artist's got sameface issues.
Note how even in the fashion-conscious series showcased in this video the hairstyles are largely static.
I just love this guys speech pattern😂
if anyone knows about fashion, it's definitely CLAMP though they're not exactly shounen but man, they've touched everything from haute couture to traditional japanese garments to streetwear and made it GOLDEN !!!
